Those looking for some kind of challenge will not find satisfaction in Little Orpheus, which however, as at the time of its debut, remains an indie gem to which at least the admirers of narrative-based platform games, and of "sci-fantasy" stories in particular, they should not turn their backs at all. Humor and wonder come together to perfection in the latest effort of The Chinese Room, returning a brief but full of surprises experience, which on living room screens relives in an imperfect but content-wise form, certainly to be privileged when in the future it will be allowed to come out.

It is a very easy platform game which tells an exciting story setting in a vivid world full of fantastic gimmicks.

The journey to the center of the Earth in the Russian way is funny, entertaining, but above all with a breathtaking appearance and fantastic visuals that will enchant you.

A very narrative platform game with interesting artistic values, but also very short and light in gameplay mechanics.
  2. It's a very short adventure, clocking in at three or four hours. Precisely the right call for a story like this. It's smartly written as well (or maybe I just assume it is from the dozen references to Russian history and culture that went over my head…) I just wish the game's slumberous design was as enthusiastic with its verbs as Ivan is with his adjectives. For parents, or maybe anyone burnt out at the end of the day, or anyone seeking the cinematic beauty of Another World without the accompanying teeth-gnashing, this tall tale of a tiny terranaut could work as a pre-sleep chill-out game (psst, it's also out on Nintendo Switch, but you didn't hear it from me). But for someone who likes their platformers with more oomph, with trials of dexterity or twisty puzzle-thinking, then its straightforward tale might make you a little snoozy for entirely different reasons.

The dialogues are amazing, and the Russian accent voice overs are perfect. You have 3 commands for jump, slide and interact. Nothing fancy or hard, but it's in the mentality of the game. The graphics are really good but you have to remove chromatic aberration. The music is superb. There is no combat per say. I give it 82%. The game is worth the small price it demands, at least for it's fun story and a game well done. Full Review »

The soundtrack and art design are beautiful. The story is simple but charming, and the writing is way better than what we are used to in video games. The game is a walking simulator, and the gameplay is not even slightly difficult, but it's not trying to be. The only poor decision was to hide the collectible orbs until you finish each episode.
