    Still a headliner when it comes to great FPS with co-op, there's no real point having this one when you can get L4D2 as cheap with all L4D1's content now ported by Valve as free dlcs.

    This game is flawless! The game play just seems more smoother then in Left 4 Dead 2 and the characters are more attractive Bill a Vietnam vet, Francis the Chopper dude, Louis a successful black man and Zoey a pretty young girl that loves zombie movies.. I would give it a 10 but the game lacks more weapons, more types of zombies, more items, ect that Left 4 Dead 2 provides. Besides thoseThis game is flawless!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Like the main concept, the charachters and like the game itself. The modified Source engine is really impressive and it has a great graphics. But til the end of the map it is sometimes pretty boring and your teammates really stupid. But at the end of the map there is always a huge ambush and if you want to use the "leave no man behind" rule, you simply die.… Expand

    An amazing game that started the whole zombie survival horror boom. Valve proved beyond doubt that they are masters of quality. Play with friends if you can.

    Overall one of the best games ever made, and pretty much evolved the zombie genre to a point towards even making Resident Evil run for its money when it comes down to zombie genre games.     It's a shame this game's community is nearly non existent now since Left 4 Dead 2 replaced it, but in it's time it gave me hundred's of hours of FUN. This game just has such a high replay-ability, it just never got boring for me. Playing this with friends just makes the experience even more enjoyable. 10/10

    Absolutely amazing zombie game that reminds me of the movie 28 days later. The only way to improve this game would have been to add various routes, and more weapons. If you want to get the most out of left 4 dead, play online with friends, single player gets boring.

    Funnest single/multiplayer/co-op zombie game you'll ever play! Play with your friends: 4 vs 4: humans vs infected. Also if you know where to look there are some incredibly fun servers with different and personalized game modes. This game never fails to amaze unless you have a useless tool on your team. The only bad thing I have to say is not about the game itself but the developers, forFunnest single/multiplayer/co-op zombie game you'll ever play! Play with your friends: 4 vs 4: humans vs infected. Also if you know where to look there are some incredibly fun servers with different and personalized game modes. This game never fails to amaze unless you have a useless tool on your team.     Excelent game, I am giving a 9 only because the 10 belongs to the second release of Left 4 Dead, since the only thing this game was failing at is some bugs inside it and the poor hand to hand combat weapons, both upgraded in the second release.

To most in the modern shooter genre, a team is just a bunch of loners with guns who can't kill each other, going up against a dozen or so loners with guns with the same constraints. Valve has a habit of challenging this, and the end result is Left 4 Dead, a game that not only requires you to work as a team, but outright beats you over theFew games even make the effort to enforce teamwork. The characters and the hours of dialog alone are worth the buy, and don't even get me started on the fun and frustration that awaits you in the versus mode. You can play as the infected too! Alone, it's a damn good game and packs at least a hundred hours of gameplay, but its little brother quickly blew past in both the community and the developer's eyes. Before then, the limits such as weapon selection and special enemies didn't exist. But who can pass up mentioning akimbo assassin, probably one of the most fun achievements available in modern shooters, and the plane crash in Dead Air. Truly classic.… Expand

    Left 4 Dead est pour moi, le meilleur jeu de coopération. Il nécessite beaucoup de stratégie et de reflex pour jouer en Versus. Mais je ne le conseille pas à ceux qui ont une mauvaise connection ou aux débutant de ce genre pour jouer en versus

    For fans of the traditional LAN party, rejoice, for now there is a game built from the ground up for co-op! Just make sure your friends sign a contract to say they'll continue to play this game for the next couple of years or so to get your money's worth! :)

    I love this game and the people who made it. Once again Valve has created a master piece of a game. This game has fun campaigns very good survival mode which you fight off a ton of zombies and last as long as you can. Versus mode is were up to eight players play, four players the humans and four the mutated ZOMBIES. Yes the mutated zombies like hunters,smokers and boomers [MY FAV]. Or justI love this game and the people who made it. Once again Valve has created a master piece of a game.     Play L4D at your peril! This game is completely addictive at least it is for me. Shooting zombies is just so much fun, especially when it’s made possible by such a well-crafted game. The premise is very simple: you and three fellow survivors have to make your way from one safe house to another until you are finally    Watch out for the Incredible Purple Hulk (you’ll see what I mean!)

    Play L4D at your peril! This game is completely addictive at least it is for me. Shooting zombies is just so much fun, especially when it’s made possible by such a well-crafted game. The premise is very simple: you and three fellow survivors have to make your way from one safe house to another until you are finally rescued. Along the way you have to fight off hordes of slavering zombies. In single player mode the AI is pretty good, although your teammates don’t always behave as you might wish them to during the incredibly hectic campaign finales. There are 4 campaigns with 5 maps to each one. Replay value is good due to the fact that the AI changes the zombie attacks and spawn points with each play, so you never know where the horde is going to come flooding from or where the bosses are lurking. When you get bored with the maps supplied there are loads of 3rd party maps and campaigns available on the web. On top of all this you can even play as one the various types of zombies (on a random basis). Personally I find this less satisfying, but it is worth a go just to get the other perspective. This is a simple but truly great game. L4D2 here I come!    … Expand

    Excellent co-op multiplayer game where players are required to team up to actually win unlike many other "coops". However it's biggest flaw is the community where players are not punished for leaving games thus having lots of leavers when things start to go bad for a particular team. Much better than the sequal game that was released shortly after this one.

    Decent zombie game. Most playable with friends you actually know over live chat. Cause the L4D community has many people trolling. Non the less ,the different campaigns you can download from the modding community, will make it up to you. Its an solid shooter ,but it starts lacking of replay value after few hundred hours.

    Despite already having played Left 4 Dead 2, Left 4 Dead is still an excellent game. Of course it's essentially just more of the same, but that's more or less what I was expecting, honestly. The game features four playable characters, Bill, Zoey, Francis and Louis, DLC campaigns (screw you EA) and an abundance of zombies to tear to shreds. Recommended 100%.

    As I said from Left 4 Dead 2, the guns are smooth and the reloading are great, there is no workshop in Left 4 Dead, like Left 4 Dead 2 had are different, u got to download some mods and maps to be able to play, and of course the best zombie game so far 10/10

    Highly anticipated and hyped on gametrailers and youtube. One of the best games of all time. You could expect nothing less of Valve. Put around 1500 hours in the original game. Quality is what this game is about. Voice acting, narrative, graphics, programming systems. It worked out extremely well.

    A good game. I've played it a lot on Steam, and I think it's one of the best zombie games of all time. How could anyone disagree with me? You know, the game only costs like 20 euros or 22 dollars. Not bad at all! Some say Left 4 Dead 2 is better but I haven't tried it yet (I must buy it as well as soon as possible).

    Really fun shooter, especially in the co-op mode! Pretty basic mechanics, like in HL2, but that makes it more pure in a way for me, and certainly not less enjoyable! A very short campaign though, and pretty outdated visuals for 2008.

    Left 4 dead es un excelente juego de PC y debo admitir que la versión de PC es mil veces mejor que la de consola permitiendo mas contenido al usuario, el juego trae 4 campañas únicas con varias dificultades para disfrutar, en mi caso lo complete en normal y el juego se trata de ir avanzando por 4 niveles si recuerdo bien eliminando tropas de infectados y mutantes aveces debemos completar objetivos en ese escenario pero al final siempre no sale de esa formula que esta bien explotada aqui, la cantidad de armas es un poco pobre pero se disfruta igual tenemos pistolas doble, escopetas, rifles francotirador y fusiles de asalto combinando con molotov y unas bombas caseras que al lanzarlas atrae a los infectados, la ambientación me gusto mucho típico de películas zombies de hollywood el online es muy estable y siempre hay personas jugando otra cosa porque la versión PC es mil veces mejor es debido a la capacidad de poder meter campañas personalizadas por la comunidad del juego obligándote a echar mas horas en fin por ultimo los gráficos están geniales para su tiempo y siguen siendo buenos a pesar de la actualidad.    … Expand

    You can play this game by yourself, as other characters can be controlled by the program, and there is a kind of mini-campaign here. But this game is not about that. Left 4 Dead is a very cool cooperative shooter in a zombie-apocalypse for 4 gamers against different types of zombies and in different situations and locations.

I like the dark and scary scenario, it feels just like night of the living dead. Great and fun campaigns. Awesome single-player-mode as well as co-op. You can even play as special infected.     It is a bit weird to review a game released in 2008 eleven years later, yet I'd say that it is still a reference game for 4 players cooperation. Only the characters' move speed feels a bit slow, but apart from this you have fun and intensity, still feels great. To be played only in multiplayer though, the game loses most of its interest if you play alone.

Режиссёр - творит чудеса и создает кучу необычных ситуаций. Даже не удивлен, что игра все еще имеет хороший онлайн, даже спустя 13 лет.Шикарная игра, в которую наиграл с друзьями десятки часов. Атмосфера очень тягучая, играть реально страшно, особенно на высоком уровне сложности. Режиссёр - творит чудеса и создает кучу необычных ситуаций. Благодаря этому в неё играют до    Легендарная игра с которой мне довелось познакомиться в детстве.
    Она великолепна во всём:
    - Сюжет;
    - Интересные главные герои и их взаимодействия друг с другом;
    - Разнообразные и интересные кампании;
    - Великолепная графика и музыка;
    - Разнообразные и интересные противники, режимы;
    - Отлично воссозданная зомби-атмосфера;
    - Отличные сетевые режимы.
    Благодаря этому в неё играют до сих пор несмотря на то, что ей уже почти 15 лет!!!
    В эту игру можно играть одному, но куда лучше и увлекательнее — с друзьями.

    Игре надо ставить две оценки. Как кооп шутер, где за зомби играет компьютер, игра заслуживает девятку. Кровища, толпы монстров, боссы, взаимодействие между игроками... Зато в режимах, когда две команды сражаются друг с другом, оценка падает до пяти, потому что баланса нет и не будет, т.к. зомби безбожно слабы против тех игроков, которые знают, что делают.     One of the best zombie shooters I've ever played. The single player is extremely intense and riveting, and playing online is even more fun and addictive. It has solid controls, incredibly realistic zombie animations (even by today's standards), and charismatic characters.     This game is really good, the gunplay feels really nice and i really liked how the pistols have infinite ammo, the really only problem i found is that it gets really repetitive and people always vote to put the difficulty to impossible even though they cant even play easy mode.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fun Zombie shooter and the first one I ever played.

    When Left 4 Dead came out, it was a new concept for me. Fully rendered 3D zombies and a series of stages to progress through with your friends, in order to be rescued. I had so much fun with this game and its original concept back then, inspired many other games to follow the same or a shared format.

    In Left 4 Dead, you play as one of four characters who, as a group, need to travel to an extraction point from where they are rescued. There are a lot of maps to choose from and each map consists of five levels.

    On your journey you come across hordes of infected and, every fifty steps or so, one of the three special infected this game has, appears and tries to make your life miserable. Those three are the Smoker, which uses his long tongue to reel you in and choke you, the Boomer (no not a sixty year old man with forty grandchildren), a bloated fat sack of pus that explodes on you, covering you in goo and attracting other infected, and the Hunter, a hacker-man type dude in a hoodie that jumps and claws at you with the most deafening screech. You find scarce resources like health packs and pills to keep you going, and later on, you find some better weapons.

    Left 4 Dead features two mini boss type infected that appears once in a while. Those are the Witch, a mutated girl that sobs and sits on the ground. When you startle her, she goes apesh!t and charges towards you. If she hits you, it’s a one-way ticket to the floor. And then there is the Tank. An oversized bodybuilder zombie on steroids. He is the Left 4 Dead variant of “Hulk Smash” and one can quickly understand what will happen if he successfully shows you the way of the fist.

    You can play Left 4 Dead with friends or random people, where each person takes over one of the four characters. You can play solo, in which case the other three survivors are filled in with bots. The AI of those bots is surprisingly decent, although they feel a little lifeless, which is to be expected from playing with bots.
    The action is intense, and the tension builds up when you are almost there or your whole team is down, and everyone is depending on you. This feeling is enhanced on higher difficulty levels.

    The graphics in Left 4 Dead are dark and grim and fine to look at. The animations are a little sluggish and zombies dying, do so in a scripted motion. When you encounter the Witch for example, and you pump her full of shotgun hail, she casually falls down to the ground on heir knees and dies. She should be flying to the nearest planet in a “realistic” situation.

    The controls are smooth and work very well. I really like that you can stomp zombies that get to close, so you earn yourself the necessary second to blow their head off.

    You also got a versus mode in which you can be one of the special infected and need to let the survivors fail their journey at any cost.

    The sound design is excellent. The grunts of the zombies, the ambient music and weapon fire, all sounds very good.

    Like I said, I had so much fun with Left 4 Dead and can play it anytime for a few rounds of old-school fun.

    Loads of fun. Chaotic hordes and creative super-zombies make for frantic team-oriented gameplay that is as addictive as meth. It has a solid amount of highly replayable content and sells the zombie apocalypse better than most games out there.

    Buen juego, tiene buenos zombis y buenos efectos, buen gráficos para su época, buenos sonidos y personajes, pero siento que una campaña con mejor historia pudo haber perfeccionado el juego, yo lo consideraría una excelente opción para jugar un rato o con amigos.
