Mar 19, 2024Eleventh Hour Games proves with Lost Epoch that greatness can be attained through perseverance, passion, and a clear vision. From the get-go, the game stands shoulder to shoulder with the best in the ARPG genre. It offers hours of high-quality entertainment, featuring deep character progression, diverse gameplay systems, and plenty of fun and challenge. Lost Epoch delivers everything you'd expect from this type of game and more.

Mar 13, 2024With Diablo IV starting to grow stale and my patience for Path of Exile’s impenetrable nature wearing thin, Last Epoch couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Its timely arrival and the fact that it is perhaps the most fun I’ve had with an ARPG since Diablo II speaks volumes. Satisfying progression where every build feels like it has the potential to be meta, rather than just a select few, and its accessible endgame that downplays the genre’s usual reliance on RNG have come together to create something that feels like a true middle ground between the extremes that current competitors represent. In expertly striking that balance, Last Epoch is already a huge threat in the ARPG space, and I cannot wait to see where the developers take it from here as we dive headfirst into future seasons.
-
Mar 8, 2024Fantastic action RPG with sophisticated systems, addictive gameplay, and an interesting setting. While Last Epoch somewhat suffers from issues stemming from its lower budget, it remains one of the best ARPGs you can currently play.
-
Feb 26, 2024Last Epoch is a compelling, addictive, and above all creative ARPG that more than deserves its place in the genre.
-
Feb 23, 2024Last Epoch offers a middle ground between its contemporaries in the action RPG genre, offering players plenty of deep character customization options while still managing to stay understandable and approachable. While its story might feel meandering, the endgame content is plenty fun on its own, and its dungeons are some of the most fun bits of content in the entire game.
-
Feb 19, 2024Last Epoch has grown to become the APRG game for ARPG fans with a very passionate dev team. This can be seen in the moment to moment crunchy gameplay, endless stash tabs, and sort button for every inventory. If you’re a fan of ARPGs, then you have nothing to lose and everything to gain from giving this gem a try.
-
Mar 8, 2024Even if there are problems with the story and its presentation, Last Epoch inspires in most other aspects and does not have to hide from the genre competition.
-
Mar 5, 2024Last Epoch's few flaws come from it being the first project by an indie team. These include long loading times for maps, server overloads causing wait times to log in, and missing translations and some bugs. But beyond these issues, the game is very rich and extremely fun, reminding me of the excitement of playing Diablo-like games for the first time.
-
Mar 17, 2024Last Epoch is a great ARPG and while it’s still a bit rough in certain areas and with some roughness to be smoothed out in the various game systems and subsystems, it combines admirably the immediacy of Diablo IV and the depth of Path of Exile.
-
Mar 13, 2024Last Epoch is an impressive aRPG that features a web of interconnected systems and activities. The game's time in Steam Early Access served its purpose and, rough launch and some rougher edges notwithstanding, it delivers a smooth and enjoyable experience. Not as simple as Diablo 4, and not as complex as Path of Exile, Last Epoch has something for everyone, from the casual dungeon divers to the minmax lovers ready to chase that elusive stat.
-
Mar 8, 2024All things considered, Last Epoch is in a good place a couple of weeks after its launch. With the launch issues mostly in the rearview, EHG can now focus on fixing bugs, sifting through player feedback, and putting together a plan for the future. I’m not a Traveler in real life, so I can’t tell you exactly what the future holds for EHG and Last Epoch, but I suspect that Last Epoch will be the go-to ARPG for many gamers. Will it become the best ARPG of all time? Maybe, maybe not, but I doubt that Last Epoch is just the next Steam flash-in-the-pan success that will be forgotten in a few weeks. No, I believe Last Epoch has what it takes to withstand the tests of time.
-
Feb 21, 2024Last Epoch is the perfect game for you if Diablo 4 has disappointed you and you're wisely waiting for PoE 2. After 4 years of early access and listening to the community, Eleventh Hour Games has succeeded in creating another great Hack'n'Slash, a perfect blend of the genre's ARPGs, Lost Ark and Dr.Strange. A well-stocked endgame content and thousands of items to farm follow an interesting but not memorable campaign. The game will easily hold you hostage for dozens of hours and more if you're a fan of the genre, and will suit veterans and neophytes alike, even without being as accessible as a D4.
-
Feb 19, 2024Accessible Action-RPG with complex character development, sophisticated endgame and motivating item spiral, but meagre story.
-
Apr 1, 2024With a large amount of skill paths, plenty of stash space for all of the loot you'll be picking up, and a lot more features that can make a player feel more than welcome venturing forth into this new world, Last Epoch may mean 'Final Age', but it can be the start of an adventure for many a player.
-
Mar 5, 2024Last Epoch straddles the midpoint between familiar accessibility and depth. There is plenty enough character customization to reward experimentation and repeated play. The basic, addictive ARPG loop is compelling, even if the narrative is a bit muddled. Once past the first few overly familiar hours, Last Epoch starts to really come into its own as an excellent hack-and-slash with lots of potential and staying power.
-
Mar 19, 2024Last Epoch is an isometric hack and slash RPG that is graphically well crafted but most importantly accessible to a non-hardcore audience. You can progress without much difficulty and dying does not bring particular penalty as seen in soulslike. The few trivial starting classes can generate thousands of different builds through specializations, crafting, perks, and talents to be assigned in the skill tree. Story as always plays a marginal role, but the introduction of time travel will make wandering through the same regions in various eras interesting. Endgame management will determine long-term success, but at the moment it is an RPG worth trying.

Game World Navigator MagazineApr 23, 2024“Modest” is the first word that comes to mind. Modest graphics, modest story about EEEEVIL, Diablo-esque gameplay... Except it’s not – the amount of skill customization is staggering, and unlike Path of Exile, you can change your build on the fly. [Issue#263, p.48]
-
Apr 19, 2024Last Epoch is an ARPG that has great ideas on paper but often stumbles when trying to implement them. But if you somehow persist in climbing that first ramp, the rest goes downhill anyway.
-
Mar 5, 2024Last Epoch has a good chance to compete with Path of Exile and Diablo IV. The game offers extremely diverse character development options and an endless number of builds that encourage you to immerse yourself in the vast world of Eterra for a long time.
-
Mar 4, 2024An accessible ARPG that has huge potential for player customisation that does a few unique things to keep it feeling fresh.
-
Mar 4, 2024Last Epoch is a must play ARPG for fans of the genre, and can be considered an excellent starting point for newcomers.
-
Mar 1, 2024Last Epoch is a fantastic ARPG that cleverly introduces interesting new features to a genre that tends to get stuck in its roots. Deep and at the same time accessible to less experienced players, it has a surprising diversity of gameplay, anchored in ingenious gameplay loops that will keep you hooked for days.
-
Feb 22, 2024Push past its one-note campaign and Last Epoch is an impressive, time-bending action RPG that combines rich customization with modern action.
-
Feb 21, 2024Last Epoch is simply a very good action role-playing game. If you're a fan of Path of Exile or Diablo 4, Last Epoch will probably be right up your alley.
-
Feb 21, 2024For a small team to develop an ARPG as polished and as player-friendly as Last Epoch is astonishing. To do it with the complexity that the genre demands as a prerequisite is something else, and I'm truly, truly impressed by what's on offer at launch - and can't wait to see it grow.
-
Feb 19, 2024Last Epoch is an ARPG that puts mechanics first, and does so with a resounding sense of class identity. Its player-friendly design ensures you have all the tools you need for the job, and rivals such as Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 would do well to pay attention to some of its smartest innovations.
-
Apr 7, 2024Last Epoch is truly the perfect middle ground between Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, but this feature is not enough to make it an action RPG masterpiece. At present, the Eleventh Hour Games title is nothing more than a good hack and slash that entertains for several dozen hours, but which fails to leave its mark due to a lackluster artistic direction and a rather monotonous endgame.
-
Mar 1, 2024Last Epoch delivers an innovative ARPG experience with exceptional build customization and accessible crafting, bolstered by its refreshing time travel mechanic. However, a weak narrative, limited character customization, and repetitive endgame loop somewhat hold it back.
-
Feb 28, 2024Last Epoch is a quarter-view ARPG designed for genre enthusiasts who may have grown weary of games that are either too easy or too difficult. While the game proves itself by providing immense core gameplay built over its five-year early access, the unstable online server and the worst-ever Korean localization hinders the overall experience.
-
Apr 8, 2024Last Epoch takes the genre dominated by Diablo IV and Path of Exile by surprise, with a proposal that, thanks to its accessibility and variety in character development, manages to become a more than interesting alternative.
-
Feb 23, 2024There’s a strong foundation to build on, both from narrative and combat perspectives, and more than that, I just want an excuse to spend more time in Last Epoch.
-
Feb 19, 2024Last Epoch convinces despite a weak story with its action-packed time travel and diverse skill system.
-
Feb 21, 2024With its emphasis on crafting and trading rather than action, Last Epoch puts the cart before the horse.
-
Feb 21, 2024A versatile build system allows for experiments with deep skill trees and unusual crafting mechanics - but after the initial excitement of creating those builds, momentum fades.

Feb 21, 2024Mostly, I really like the high drama and high fantasy of Last Epoch. It's much less depressing to stare at for hours as you blast mercenaries and ice wolves into trembling ragdoll corpses that some of its contemporaries, and the the mid-complexity crafting and gear systems, along with the character building, makes it easy and, dare I say it, actually fun to engage with minor percentage increases. I never thought I'd see the day.
