Dec 18, 2017As with most releases on modern VR hardware, it’s easy to pick flaws in the videogame due to the control systems and lessened visual quality, but to do so would be to ignore the huge leap forward L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files makes in the creation of a real-world playground. The delivery of unique characters impresses a sense of urgency, empathy and often distain unlike any other videogame experience, playing into the strengths of the VR medium by placing the player face-to-face with convincing digital human beings. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files presents an unwavering argument for VR as a compelling entertainment medium, and should be welcomed as a yet another stepping stone to true presence in digital worlds.

Dec 29, 2017L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files simply looks stunning.
-
Jan 25, 2018There would have been no shame if LA Noire: the VR Case Files was Rockstar's experimental venture into Virtual Reality, leading to an okay experience. But instead it looks as if the seven year old game was specifically made voor VR and it even sets a new standard. Only Rockstar can accomplish something like this; unprecedented.
-
Jan 10, 2018There’s little doubt that LA Noire was the perfect game for Rockstar to try VR with. But is it the killer app the ecosystem needs to get most gamers to invest? I’d say no. But for those looking for a game that’s worth playing on their Vive (and Rift with some trouble), LA Noire: The VR Case Files is right up there with A Mage’s Tale and Robo Recall as one of the best.
-
Jan 3, 2018L.A. Noire: The VR Case File is a bold, inventive, and engaging VR title, marking the first tentative steps into the next step in VR gaming. You'll feel like a true 40's detective, and you'll love every second of it. Being able to drive around a realistic take on LA is just icing on the cake, but it's some pretty sweet icing.
-
Dec 19, 2017When it comes to gestures and the subtle VR changes, some of the wonderfully campy moments are actually enhanced by the ability to point fingers and draw old timey glasses/beards on suspects in your journal with a pen in your right hand.
-
Dec 27, 2017The VR version of L.A. Noire is amazing and introduces something new that will probably be taken in the future from other productions for Virtual Reality.
-
Jan 9, 2018Rockstar’s done a great job of retooling it to make LA Noire: The VR Case Files feel less like a port and more like something that was always meant to be played this way, and the effort shows.
-
Dec 26, 2017This is a great way to rediscover some of the best cases from L.A. Noire. We would've loved to play the full game, but it is definitely a very solid experience.
-
Dec 20, 2017L.A Noire: The VR Case Files is clearly one of the best VR games of the year, making the police work even more immersive. A true VR game, and not one of the VR experiences for sure.
-
Dec 19, 2017L.A. Noire The VR Case Files represents the next step forward for VR. In a world filled with wave-based shooters, stationary puzzlers, and simplified interactions, L.A. Noire offers instead real-world interaction with real dialogue and head-scratching problems to solve. Easily one of the best demonstrations of the potential of VR, I just wish it had some more legs to it.
-
Feb 26, 2018L. A. Noire: The VR Case Files focuses on the strengths of the main game, but the story suffers.
-
Apr 11, 2018While selecting individual cases from the full game leaves the player with a disjointed and incomplete story, enough of the 1940's ambiance and the rough and tumble crime fighting of that era is included to offer up a compelling preview of what will hopefully become LA Noire 2: VR. There is some work to do on some of the mechanics, most notably the way in which weapons are handled, but this weakness is easily offset by the compelling, immersive world and some of the action sequences that occur in it.
-
Jan 22, 2018This adaption of LA Noire is terrific fun, with Rockstar putting a lot of work into its detail and implementation. This is a game perfectly suited and definably improved by virtual reality. Its fleeting and occasionally disjointed nature, however, betrays that this is essentially a testbed.
-
Jan 19, 2018La Noire: The VR Cases takes back eight cases of the original game and adapts them to a virtual reality handling. The result is surprisingly realistic: the player is able to interact with many items, and the boring driving phases are now thrilling to play. The examination sequences are also so much better, even if they kept a few minor flaws form the original. Wherever you play the original game or not, The VR Cases is a must-try for the equipped players.
-
Jan 19, 2018VR Case files is a great LA Noire experience full of impressive moments and wonderful moments.
-
Jan 10, 2018Space will likely be the issue that prevents users from experiencing L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, but while it isn’t a perfectly controlled VR experience, it’s impressive that we’re seeing a VR game that utilises Room Scale VR in ways that make sense. To actually be part of this crime drama, investigating crime scenes and apprehending criminals, was more enjoyable in VR. Here’s hoping the next time we see something like this, it’s a dedicated experience.
-
Jan 10, 2018The VR Case Files is a good short version of L.A. Noire with a perfect usage of the virtual reality.
-
Dec 26, 2017If you are looking for a VR experience that exploits the best from HTC Vive and that works in the most disparate situations, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is highly recommended.
-
Dec 26, 2017While L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files has its flaws, it excels at making you feel and think like a detective in a way that the base game can't. The VR version isn't a replacement for the full game, but it's a great companion that allows you to play the greatest hit moments from Rockstar's noire opus in a welcomed new way.
-
Dec 25, 2017Overall, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is far from a perfect game, but as a virtual reality title I found it to be an ambitious as well as a good first virtual reality title for Rockstar Games.
-
Dec 18, 2017LA Noire VR is a special kind of VR game that we’ve yet to see on any platform. With a massive, sprawling open world that’s laid out before players, waiting to be explored, the sense of scale is wonderful — even if the world itself is empty and lifeless. Interrogations, crime scenes, and action moments all feel great, but they’re too few and far between with only seven total cases. But given the scope and abbreviated implementation of one of gaming’s most unique properties, LA Noire VR is an absolutely riveting adventure.
-
Jan 23, 2018This is an excellent VR game with good movement options, fist fights and the possibility to really look a suspect straight in the eye. It is such a pity this game is only limited to a few cases instead of the full game.
-
Jan 17, 2018Despite the limitations in terms of content, the developers were overwhelmed by the countless actions you can perform. Bugs interfere on a regular basis and there´s nothing you can get from exploring the rather interesting open-world. What saves the title and makes him, despite the flaws, worthwhile for HTC-Vive-owners is the immersive feeling of the game, at least when you’re not being interrupted by one of the third-person-cutscenes.
-
Jan 2, 2018L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files has a few technical problems, and a rather empty world, but shines in it's detail oriented implementation of VR. Driving, the handling of weapons, fighting, and investigating seems immersive and satisfying.
-
Dec 21, 2017L.A. Noire: The Case Files is more a VR experience than a full game. Specially recommended for those who have not played the original.
