Apr 26, 2017Kona is taking the best elements from the walking simulators, survival games and classic adventure games and putting them all in one place. It relies heavily on the setting and the atmosphere of isolation and even builds a nice little detective story on top of that.
-
Mar 24, 2017Kona is a wonderful and lovingly crafted accomplishment. It's charming, magical, and smart enough to instill real motivation in its players and layer its cast in realist ways. Kona might be the first of four planned games, but it also happens to be a great standalone adventure that'll have you reaching for the thermostat in no time.
-
May 25, 2017Kona is a well-done mix of survival, mystery and crime which makes you interested in the next parts of the series.
-
CD-ActionJun 7, 2017Despite some flaws the incident at Atamipek Lake is definitely worth experiencing, as long as you rank atmosphere and discovering a gloomy mystery above shootouts and car chases. [06/2017, p.53]
-
Mar 24, 2017Kona stumbles along the way and its "low-cost" feeling makes it look worse than, say, Ethan Carter or Firewatch, but still it's a pretty cool piece of game for lovers of short, but intense and mysterious adventures. A trip to Canada is a good opportunity to face some urban legends and forces of nature.
-
Mar 24, 2017All of Kona’s survival-mechanics are implemented well enough, and the atmosphere of the game draws the player into its world. Sadly though, the most motivating factor in Kona – the story - falls apart towards the end of the game. Nearly any route you imagine the plot to go will be more thrilling and satisfying than the actual reveal. This is very unfortunate, because the story is the driving force for even continuing the game.
-
Mar 28, 2017Kona takes you on an atmospheric adventure where answers to the mysteries are always just around the corner. Although searching for items is a bit tedious, and side tasks muddle proceedings, it creates a frozen world that begs to be exposed.
-
Mar 27, 2017Kona is an excellent survival game. It knows how to stand out from the crowd with his mysterious and captivating story. Too bad it suffers some technical weaknesses.
-
Mar 20, 2017Kona aims to satisfy those users who do not like narrative adventures, but ends up failing in their attempt. Unfortunately the narrative goes in the same way, leaving serious plot gaps after a few hours of interest. However, just to feel the recreation of a humble Canadian rural village is worth going into it.
-
Apr 27, 2017Detective adventure game with lots of –on a first sight– interesting game elements that are not finished or meaningfully used. The result is a solid game with an interesting atmosphere that would need the devs spent more time with it. Perhaps the impression will improve with the upcoming sequels/parts.
-
Apr 21, 2017Kona is an interesting action adventure that sports a good atmosphere and some survival elements: unfortunately it is also marred by uninspired combat, technical issues and unsatisfactory narrative.

Mar 24, 2017It’s tremendous at creating its distinct atmosphere and then drawing you deeper in. It’s witty, spooky, and achieves an ideal sense of urgency. Weird, clamant and intriguing, this is well worth a look.
