En general, mi impresión del juego es positiva, disfruté de varios aspectos y considero que es una experiencia sólida. A pesar de algunos aspectos que podrían mejorarse, siento que Killing Floor logra mantenerme entretenido y comprometido con su acción y atmósfera.

When it comes to co-op zombie survival games, "Killing Floor" holds a special place, and I used to compare it to other popular titles like Left 4 Dead and Zombie Army. They form the big three in the genre, offering thrilling undead encounters. However, as time has passed, more contenders have emerged, expanding the choices for co-op zombie game enthusiasts.

In terms of visuals, "Killing Floor" is undeniably beautiful, capturing a dark and eerie atmosphere that sets the stage for intense gameplay. And speaking of gameplay, it's where the game truly shines. The experience is incredibly fun and addicting, drawing players into a world of relentless action and endless hordes of zombies.

The satisfaction of taking down enemies and witnessing the slow-motion effects is incredibly rewarding, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the game. The adrenaline rush that comes with each successful kill is a major highlight for many players, and I couldn't agree more.

Throughout my time with the game, I found myself immersed in the experience, finding little to dislike about the title. "Killing Floor" stays true to its identity and purpose, offering pure rampage and relentless zombie killing. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not, which is refreshing in a world filled with games trying to be everything at once.

While "Killing Floor" might not have as much co-op gameplay as Left 4 Dead and Zombie Army, it carves its own niche with a focus on fast-paced action and combat.

As for the current population numbers, because of the existence of a sequel, I am not entirely sure of the details, but my time with the game left a lasting impression, and I can confidently say it's a game worth exploring for any fan of the co-op zombie survival genre. "Killing Floor" delivers on its promises and provides an exhilarating experience for those seeking relentless zombie mayhem.

Killing Floor is a true classic and, in my opinion, one of the best wave shooters today.

The principle is simple, hordes of mutated zombie-like monsters, called Zeds, are on the loose and you must survive their onslaught in a certain number of waves. After each wave, you earned some cold cash that you can spend at the trader that then opens. You can buy ammo and new weapons here. Be quick tough because she will only be there for a few minutes before closing and starting the next wave.

Killing Floor has a simple story, set in London, about a scientist who created the Zed’s but then the experiment backfired, the Zed’s mutated to their grotesque forms and they break out of the facility. The scientist, Kevin “The Patriarch” Clamely is behind the experiments and is also twisted and genetically modified. He is the end boss of the game after completing all the waves.

Besides from the standard wave mode, you can also play trough some story missions which holds the same principle, but with an actual goal to complete. Find samples, find the exit, bring gold bars to a certain drop point, that kind of stuff. It is a nice diversion from the standard game play.

In Killing Floor, you can play as many different classes that you can level up to unlock more abilities. You can be a medic, a firebug, a sharpshooter and many more. By killing enemies with weapons that fit your class, you earn experience for that class and, on higher levels, unlock special bonuses to become stronger.

The graphics look great and detailed and they have a grim and dark atmosphere, fitting the game well. There is all kinds of stuff going on in the background like captive Zed’s in tanks, burning cars and spooky fog in the forest level. The animations and gore is perfect and the added rag doll makes the game feel more realistic.

Sound wise, Killing Floor nailed it. Bullet impacts, weapon fire, explosions and enemy screams and grunts are solid and bone chilling at times. It really enhances the experience. And on that note, the music is epic. Many tracks are heavy metal songs and for me, it cannot get wrong. My personal favorite is the “Infectious Cadavers” track that plays throughout the story missions and sometimes in the wave modes.

The controls are fluent and the extra challenge comes from the fact that you do not have a corsair to aim at enemies. You need to aim down your sight to aim properly, a unique feature as far as I can tell.

The only issue I had with Killing Floor is the terrible matchmaking for online play. It is one of the worst kinds of systems in place. When joining a game, it works fine. You refresh the list of available servers, choose one and you are good to go. But when you want to play with friends for example, you need to make a killing floor server with open source tools, all kinds of next level Linux scripts and even then, it may not show up for your buddies when trying to join. I get that dedicated servers are not for everyone, but as far as I know, Killing Floor is the only game that uses this kind of matchmaking.

But overall, Killing Floor is a fantastic game and, by now, a real classic. Its successor resolved all the issues and has far more content now, but I can always return to this blast from the past.

    Absolutely recommend this game.

For the same reason, it currently suffers from the recent free giveaway as the servers are full of newbies trying to learn the game.

What I loved the most about Killing Floor was the shooting mechanics. I have played shooters for more than 20 years now and rarely have I seen games where it feels so satisfying to shoot an enemy. This is not just about the weapons, but also how the enemies and sound & visual effects react to your bullets. It really feels great.

The game also has great gameplay value. You can’t just jump into it and expect to do anything more than licking the floor if you are playing on a difficulty higher than normal. Your approach should be to start with easy or normal, learn the game mechanics, get accustomed to your perk and gain some levels on your specific perk before you move to higher difficulties. Otherwise, you will simply not survive as Killing Floor is a quite unforgiving game.

Talking about perks, I have tried Sharpshooter, Firebug and Demolition in my 75+ hours of Killing Floor and each perk felt like playing a different game. If you don’t like your perk so much, definitely give a chance to some of the others (firebug being my favorite). And finally, the maps. There are dozens of maps with unique atmosphere. Beating one game in each map for the first time should take you around 30 hours. To conclude, Killing Floor is one of the best online shooters out there. If you liked any of the Left 4 Dead titles and you are ok with a similar but much darker game, look no further.

PS: Toy Master DLC is quite boring, imbalanced and in my opinion is not suitable for the Killing Floor mechanics. Feel free to ignore it.

I do honestly think co-op is where the game shines its brightest, not only because it makes it easier to survive, it's because then you get to feel the magic feeling of teamwork, with players constantly sharing money, just because it helps everyone on the team out. The varying monster types are intresting to see as well, because you've got your fat zeds, crawler zeds, screaming zeds, invisble zeds, rocket-launching zeds and your normal every-day zed (there is plenty more zeds after that, but you get the gist).

There are holiday events that will happen on (who guessed it?) holidays or in the same month as the holiday. These events give you the opportunity to get a new character when you get all of the achivements, which is pretty awesome, not to mention the holiday maps that are always unique and intresting. I think the gameplay is enhanced when you play with friends, because communicating will be a lot easier and it's just fun to blast some zeds with you buddies.

Overall this game is pretty sweet, but it is a good idea to buy it on sale in case you think it's a little too repetitive for your taste.

If this game would have more content, I could have given a real nice score. Something like 9? But this got to be a joke, 3 maps and 1 boss?

So anyway, the game still reach 7 for me. The graphics are great and very dated. The sound effects are nice too but the music could have be better. For the gameplay, it does not reach the greatness of L4D2 imo but still we have something real good.

However the game also has perks which you can level up by dealing damage with certain weapons or killing specific enemies. These perks give you huge boosts which drastically alter good of a job you can do. These perks also have insanely high requirements. This turns the game into a huge grind where you're just trying to level up perks so you even have a chance at surviving on higher difficulty levels. I don't think it helps the game at all and only adds to the repetitive nature. The game has a server browser which is nice, however teams only consist of 6 players, so lobbies fill up quick and it makes it a pain to try and play with friends unless one of you is able to host a server. If you don't host a server, plan on having other players join in as well. Overall I enjoyed my time with it but it was too repetitive to warrant a high score. Expand

One of the funnest co-op shooters I know. KF has good gun mechanics and a fair amount of maps to choose. The recent introduction of Objective Mode has added an extra degree of variation to the gameplay, and the seasonal events add a welcomed cosmetic change to the Zeds. Although the overall gameplay formula is rather simplistic and repetitive in nature, the game manages to somehow remain entertaining even when playing the same maps over and over.

Now for the negatives. Firstly, enemy hitboxes can occasionally be wrongly placed, and although the user interface is perfectly functional, its presentation is a bit crude and unrefined. Visuals are slightly dated, and some maps are poorly optimised, causing unreasonable levels of stuttering and framerate drops even in high-end PCs (Steamland and Stronghold in particular). I would also prefer if the game encouraged mobility in teams, as the most efficient method of surviving seems to be just finding a good place to camp, even in HoE difficulty. This is fun for a awhile, but certainly does become a little stale.

The difficulties are merciless which I wish was done more but once you go through it so many times, it becomes predictable. I personally loved the game enough to buy all the DLC but then again I also wound up playing the majority of the game solo.

The game itself is fun however there's alot broken in the game too. The server select is a mess, often not working properly. The zombies often get in fights with themselves and even rarer they'll tag along beside you like a faithful pet for some unknown reason instead of attacking you.

    - Gameplay = The gun play is strong and does its job well. Sure it might not be as flexible as L4D's more fast-pace style and gun bunting ability. BUT this game has its own fun mechanic which is "ZED Time." When you blow off a head of a specimen(The Enemy) you have chance of slowing down time which is very handy most of the time. You can pick off multiple enemies at once or kill that one pesky and annoying specimen out in the distance. It is a great way to make you feel like a strong badass especially if you use guns like the revolver or lever-action rifle. The two problems are on hard or lower difficulties it makes it really easy and reloading during ZED Time takes forever to reload making it drag to wait it out. The guns were nice but the lack of guns were a problem with its dated physics, although this is an old game so I can forgive this(Used to be a mod too). The gameplay can get tedious, be warned there is only horde mode for this game. There is Objective but not a lot of people play it and it isn't that good(The lack of ammo crates was the biggest problem). The perks are important in making your teammates live for another round. Some Perks need a lot of balancing especially when you get to a higher levels. But the perks take way too long raise and feels like a cheap ploy to increase replay value which it is. It should have been more levels and spread out perk benefits rather than packing them all together. Oh! and the Enemy A.I is pretty terrible but they are different deadly. You should play on smaller maps because it gets more intense and fun this way. But if you play on maps that a big such as Farm or Mountain Pass, you could tell the A.I and pathfinder is terrible. All they do is charge towards with little to no strategy. Some might charge behind you but that's because they spawned behind you or teleported behind you. Don't get me wrong, it is soo satisfying to blow off their heads, a true stress reliever. I wished there was more darker maps with new throwable items such as flash bangs to stun enemies and flares to temporarily lit up areas. The flashlights don't have much use even though the game has good dynamic lighting. 7/10 (Sure it is an old game but they sometimes update it so a lot of these problems could be fixed by patches or PROPER DLC).

What the hell... metacritic is cutting my review in half. I apologize to you guys, I wish I can write more but this dumb website keeps cutting my review in half even though my review is only 4900 words. I put a lot of work in my reviews so I'll start writing less on my reviews here. As much as I want to put in every detail.

This is simply a well made, challenging, unique game. Graphics are nothing to marvel at, but as it is a 2009 game they are pretty good. But the game play more than makes up for it: think of those intense gaming moments, the ones that speed up your heart, when you maybe embarrassingly yell at your screen and brag to your friends about the next day. Every game of Killing Floor is like this. Nothing is more exciting than pulling out of an impossible situation and having everyone on your 6 player team cheering you on. Or, even just playing solo is intense, but I like co-op better. Every perk is unique and fun to play, with a new skill set to be learned for every single one. This makes the game never get old, because you can always get better. Every game is unique; there is never a time where you feel like, same old same old, done it a thousand times. It's a whole new experience.
And stop comparing this to Left 4 Dead! It's not at all the same. More weapons, boss fights, tactical coop, so many features... I've spent more time on Killing Floor than most mainstream, $60 games I own.
    There are some drawbacks...
-Specimens often get glitched, leading to long delays searching a huge map for a stuck mob.
-Connection issues. Often a friend will be on a server, and I'll try to join only to get a server not responding screen. This is clearly bugged, because often I can find the server on the list and connect I just can't join a friend's game.
-Crappy sorting; It can sometime's take forever to find a server, even if I'm just looking for a low ping with some other players on it. You have to wait forever for the list to load. There should be a matchmaking system or a more specific server searcher.
There are some other annoying ones but those are the ones I notice the most.
In conclusion, It's a good game. It really leaves you to your own devices (my devices in this case often are automatic shotguns) to do what you will, with a dynamic gameplay system that lets you play your own way, whether it's holding down a building with a sniper or sprinting around the map with a katana. It's completely worth it for $20, plus, it always goes on sale for $5 or at least $10 on all steam sales, so you've got no excuse. Go buy this game now!

Theres several classes and each class gets a bit better as they level up, decreasing costs of weapons, reload times and eventually starting out with weapons or armor when they spawn.

Other than that, the game is such a winner for its simplicity. Every round starts, you kill, you hit the shop, rinse and repeat.

Throw in holiday zed events in which you are awarded new monster skins and a new level [maybe some weapons and character skins too!] and you are gonna have fun all year round.

Im not saying the game is absolutely amazing for everyone, but i am saying that everyone must try this game! I saw it and dodged it forever, but while playing on the free weekend i was hooked and i have 170+ hours on steam right now.

There is nothing more exhilarating than sitting alone in your dark room on Skype playing the game when a scrake jumps out of no where and you nearly piss your pants. The game shines the best in custom servers though, I would recommend first getting some experience in vanilla servers to get the idea of how the mechanics and classes generally handle.

Custom servers are a heck of a lot of fun since most of them have tons of custom weapons, perks and have huge population caps compared to vanilla, which has a cap of 6 people.

The only issues I have with the game are the sketchy hit-boxes, which are a problem when enemies react to getting shot, shooting the enemies in the head while they are flailing about from getting shot does not necessarily count as a headshot since the hitboxes are not where the actual model are when moving. The other issue they have is the derpy AI, since the Tripwire isnt all that well known for putting much effort into AI programing, you will often find enemies getting stuck, causing issues with spawning.

The overall tone of the game is a weird mixed bag, on the surface it seems pretty serious with its dark atmosphere and creepy looking enemies, but the voice-acting and the situations are almost always done in a silly feeling. The voices are all super stereotypically British, often using more British slang than what normal British people use. It gives this really funky but enjoyable feeling to the game.

One thing I have to complain about when it comes to the developer/publisher (Tripwire), is that they haven't been at their A+ game recently. Their best releases are the original Red Orchestra and Killing Floor. Before, they were a very consumer friendly company, the issue that has come up recently, starting with the release of Red Orchestra 2, is that they stopped releasing polished content, they stopped continually patching issues, they also started introducing "paid DLC" for Killing Floor that keeps some weapons locked unless you have purchased it, and this isnt a $1 or so cheap add-on DLC, they ask for $8 for a weapon pack... this kind of thing is against everything that Tripwire has done and claimed that they would do. Anyways, thats the end of the rant against Tripwire, the game as it is right now is more than good, its just something to keep in mind for the future actions and releases of Tripwire.

Overall, I think this is a great game if you like co-op shooters. If you could just stomach the somewhat dated graphics and engine (it runs in the Unreal 2 engine). I think this is well worth the price they ask, I have gotten hundreds of hours of entertainment out of this game, and if you like co-op survival wave-based shooting games, you will likely love this.

That aside, let's talk about the game.
It's a co-op horror survival game, it strives to be itself, comparing it to the likes of Left 4 Dead is wrong. They are completely different games by far.
Repetitive gameplay.. Well, this game is old. It was built by a generation of modders that loved their work and everything they did.

The graphics are non-consequential, the gameplay itself makes up for the lack of "amazing graphics" however they are still pretty damn good.

But don't just take my word for this guys.. ask any of the 2000 people that still play online every single day. Regardless of how old the game really is, the fact is that it's survived for this long.
Tripwire interactive still update the game, that's right.. they still update it. They even run events at key points in the year which change all the Zed's skins and even give the players new maps and sometimes new gamemodes and guns altogether!

I'm not saying the game is perfect, by any means. But this is a pretty damn close hit towards perfection in regards to a survival game. Bring a friend.. no, bring 5 friends and see just how much fun it can be!

I'm no fan boy of this game, i've played it on and off in the past as i've been busy elsewhere, but i can always see myself coming back to this game, just to enjoy the fantastic content!

Very fluid gameplay, a leveling system which means everyone starts off at the same level, with just a pistol but you use the type of gun you want/play the part you want (e.g. healer, sniper or close combat) as that game progresses through the waves, and a slo-mo mechanic that affects all players, and makes for some epic situations. Some say its over-used in the game, but I think its at the optimal level. It doesn't interrupt the game, and it just makes lining up headshots easier.

Killing Floor. The name suggests a brutal, violent game... and that's exactly what Killing Floor is. While I've seen many of these reviews comparing it to Left4Dead, I think that this is a somewhat unfair comparison, because the games are actually rather different. Left4Dead is a first person shooter where your goal is to escape, and blocking your path are hordes of the infected. Killing Floor is about staying alive over a number of rounds, before facing off against a boss, and several other minions, in an extra round..While Left4Dead follows a story, Killing Floor has a completely minimal story; just enough to explain the situation (although, this you need to look up the story, as you won't find it in-game, beyond character bios).

Killing Floor is actually more similar to Call of Duty's zombie mode. Think about it; you can take on waves of zombies or specimens, fortify certain areas, purchase weapons, and fight by yourself or with friends. But the way I see it, Killing Floor has several advantages over Call of Duty's zombie mode; for starters, you can actually survive, as opposed to fighting a battle that will just result in you being overrun. Not to mention the perk system, improved cooperation online, and what I feel is a better weapon system. Although, it must be said that there are some parallels between the enemy types in Killing Floor, and Left4Dead... Bloat, I'm looking at you, but this doesn't take away from the experience.

I've also seen many people slating the graphics... I know I'm playing the latest version, but they're quite respectable, and they're certainly "good" for what my computer will run. However, I do believe the HUD could still do with some refinement, and does look a little on the cheap side, but it is still functional, and displays everything you need to see, and the lack of a crosshair slightly ups the realism.

Overall, I rate Killing Floor 9/10, because It is an enjoyable, and occasionally manic experience with plenty of guns, plenty of maps, and enough enemies to keep you going for a while. That said the final boss is a bit of a dick.

The co-op element of this game is strong and well developed. Games like L4D2 promote teamwork by using cheap tactics from "special enemies" that completely disable a player, forcing them to be rescued or die. Killing Floor encourages players to work together through sheer enemy numbers and the necessity to have someone watch your back. You DO NOT want to be caught by a flesh pounder alone, not because he is cheap and will disable you, but because he is a complete badass.
This is also just really good game design: the leveling/progression system is balanced and gives players an edge but is not a replacement for skill, the weapons are all viable although some are better than others especially when regarding classes, and waves/difficulty is adjusted to the amount of players in the map giving anyone the option to play with as many people as they want without ruining gameplay.
I just got started at this 4 year old game and have sunk more hours into it than a large majority of the newer games that have been released. This game has a lot of playtime value for its buck.
My only real complaint would be about the dated feel to the menu and match browsing feature. It almost feels...retro. But once your in game you forget about it.

The game can be fun at times but the repetitiveness bogs the game down a lot. At first when I visited the in game weapon shop I thought there were a lot of choices but once I started using more guns, I realized I didn't like some of them and that I'd often stick to one or two certain guns depending on my class. I also thought at some point even more weapons would be available in the shop but I couldn't have been more wrong and it all just resorts in using the same guns all the time, playing the same mode, killing the same zombies, over and over again. There are also classes but this doesn't really help the game much and there aren't really any worthwhile perks to them except for spawning with armor or maybe a gun but other than that, leveling up perks just increases the amount of damage you do overall. So the lack of game modes (I'll remind you there is only one), repetition and lack of any real depth is what kills an otherwise somewhat enjoyable game. Expand

But now, the game has gone from one of my favorite horde shooters to one of my #1 examples of how pay-to-win is killing this industry. A little under a year ago, a weapon DLC was added to the game, adding 4 blatantly overpowered weapons, such as a ranged weapon for a previously melee-only class and a scythe with greater reach than any melee weapon in the game. This was added under the guise of "supporting the modders who made them", despite the fact that said modders had been perfectly contempt with releasing their previous weapon mods for free prior to being bought out by Tripwire. Yesterday marked the release of a second weapon DLC, and the weapons are as overpowered as ever. If you're alright with being at an objective disadvantage to the players who forked out an extra $10, then go ahead, buy this game, as you'll probably enjoy it. But if you can't stand watching game-after-game fall to awful practices like this, then send the devs a message through sales figures, and don't buy Killing Floor, and hopefully we may see improvement in the future. When each player is playing a needed role and everyone cooperates the game is great. More often than not, unless you have friends, this just doesn't happen all that often. The game has 7 perks to choose from that all serve an important role in a team. Sharpshooters deal with the big nasties, the firebug slows enemies and makes them easier to kill, the support specialist and demolitions help with crowd control, the medic heals, the berzerker soaks up damage and doesn't require ammo, and the commando which has automatic guns. Not every perk is required to win but all serve a good purpose. The max level of each perk is not very high and slow to level, but with only 6 levels in each taking a long time to level only makes sense.

The game can also be repetitive, but with different people in different games, it feels like a different game every time. And with the developer constantly doing seasonal re-skins of the zombies and a new map release for different seasons, there's no shortage of maps to play at all!

You can get stuck by zombie "grabs" or just overwhelmed with too many zombies, but it does at all feel nature--it just feels broken, and you never feel like you have a fighting chance. The zombies spawns are random or something, and sometimes they end up spawning behind you, and you have no idea, and then you get raped. You have no sense of there the zombies are around you. There are no hit indicators, the random spawning, and I guess the directional audio isn't that good.

It's a low budget game. You just have to accept that sometimes you will just quit because rage via game unfairness. So make sure you have a back up game to play when that happens.

Just kill zombie-ish creatures in survival mode? That's it? Booooooring! I completely miss the point. This is just a waste of time: no puzzle, no story, no fun. Just kill waves of creatures, run to the shop and purchase more powerful weapons to survive next round. I paid like $5 for the game and would gladly get my money back.
Put your money elsewhere, Killing Floor has no replay value and actually has no value whatsoever.

  1. Killing Floor is a zombie game that lacks brain and own ideas. In the main part it's simply a Left 4 Dead clone with boring maps and graphics. But Killing Floor's emphasis on tactical gameplay, the solid coop mode and the cheap prize make the game worth a look.
  2. Tripwire Interactives Killing Floor is what you would expect of a polished mod, but doesn't exceed expectations as a retail game. It's good, but unfortunately far from perfect. A nice addition to the survival-horror genre though, and it has an attractively cheap price tag.

While the single-player experience is pretty much non-existent and there are still a large number of bugs that have to be contended with, there's enough of a foundation here for players to enjoy. Hop online and kill monsters for Queen and Country.
