Sep 3, 2025While its mechanical satisfaction and feeling of power could use some work, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel still serves as a solid entry into the survivors-like genre, being especially visually excellent and showing remarkable growth from its Early Access run.

Sep 4, 2025Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is fast and mostly good fun, especially for anyone who’s looking for a new survival action experience that understands the genre’s core appeal. The heroes play very differently, and the game features a ton of godly powers to choose from, leading to many builds, some of them impressively overpowered. The Norse theme fits the mechanics well, although the enemy designs, other than the bosses, are relatively uninspired. Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel doesn’t try to be revolutionary in any way, but its mix of atmosphere and gameplay is solid, and it’s very easy to spend hours testing build ideas and learning boss patterns.

Sep 11, 2025Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel doesn’t break the mold when it comes to swarm survivor games, but it doesn’t have to. It offers plenty of replayability, and addictive gameplay that will keep you coming back for more. Plus, if you love norse mythology, then this game is steeped in it.

Sep 2, 2025Brave warriors raised by Slovak developers and with the support of the Norse gods set out among monsters and gigantic Jotuns. If you are a fan of auto battler games, Jotunnslayer might entertain you. Although somewhere above it stands Achilles: Survivor, which has somewhat richer content, extra gameplay elements and half the price tag.

Sep 7, 2025Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel stands out in an overcrowded bullet heaven landscape by blending fast-paced action with a structured system of classes, divine abilities, and permanent upgrades. Its Norse mythology setting isn’t just a visual choice but a thematic backbone that gives coherence to every run. The gameplay is rewarding, with enough variety to keep players engaged, even if progression can feel slow and objectives tend to repeat over time. Boss fights, especially in the later realms, deliver intensity and tactical depth, while the overall balance between chaos and strategy makes each session meaningful. Not every run feels memorable, but the game offers enough substance to position itself as one of the more distinctive and ambitious roguelikes of recent years.

Sep 4, 2025Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a roguelike bullet hell set in Norse mythology, where each twenty-minute run takes you through uniquely designed worlds with fitting enemies and missions. The gameplay offers variety through different classes and divine abilities, each with distinct combat styles and upgrade paths. While the game includes permanent upgrades and unlockable weapons, it lacks satisfying long-term rewards and progression tracking. As a result, it may not sustain long play sessions, but it's still an enjoyable game to play in short bursts.

Oct 23, 2025Jotunnslayer is, first and foremost, perhaps the most visually striking Vampire Survivors clone, set against an appealing Nordic backdrop. Unfortunately, the game as a whole lacks the polish it deserves. Individual abilities are so powerful that they rarely demand strategic thought. Still, the title guides players through worlds that differ mechanically and feature engaging boss encounters. Once these worlds are completed, however, the experience loses momentum, as the endless mode barely functions.
