Apr 20, 2026Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is not only brutally challenging but also very satisfying that is made for people who enjoy this genre and it plays remarkably well on the Steam Deck with responsive controls and only occasional performance hiccups. It’s not without frustrations as the difficulty spikes, reliance on RNG and late‑game grind can make the experience uneven once the early novelty wears off. But if you enjoy survivor‑style games and want something with a darker, more atmospheric twist, this is absolutely worth your time, so expect a mix of triumphant runs and the occasional boss that ends your hopes before you can blink.

Oct 23, 2025Jotunnslayer is, first and foremost, perhaps the most visually striking Vampire Survivors clone, set against an appealing Nordic backdrop. Unfortunately, the game as a whole lacks the polish it deserves. Individual abilities are so powerful that they rarely demand strategic thought. Still, the title guides players through worlds that differ mechanically and feature engaging boss encounters. Once these worlds are completed, however, the experience loses momentum, as the endless mode barely functions.

Sep 11, 2025Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel doesn’t break the mold when it comes to swarm survivor games, but it doesn’t have to. It offers plenty of replayability, and addictive gameplay that will keep you coming back for more. Plus, if you love norse mythology, then this game is steeped in it.
