A finely struck balance of the grim dark expanse between the stars and the whimsy to be found on far away planets, definitely one worth your time and money. I just wish Isao would shut the hell up from time to time!

Singular and therefore quite striking, "JETT Le Rivage Lointain" in French in the text, is a journey that should not be missed. It will not remain as a lasting memory that will mark the life of a player forever. It looks more like that nice walk we took on the weekend and which leaves vivid memories. It is a game that has a soul and brilliantly composes a striking musical and aesthetic blend.

Jett: The Far Shore deftly blends exploration and narrative elements, telling a story of struggle and hope against the odds. Small issues aside, the game shines with great writing and believable characters who press on even as challenges arise.

A sci-fi odyssey of great vision and promise that proves to be its own worst enemy.
  2. But alas, bugs only exacerbate the sense of freedom curtailed. One prevented essential resin from spawning that made a sequence unfinishable until I rebooted the game; another saw Isao pause in uncharacteristic, eternal silence during a mandatory conversation. It’s testament to Jett’s great strengths that, in the language of the scouts, I adapted and persevered through its severe lows. Once the story finished, I hoped an endgame would open up and allow me to play freely in its world. That I’d have more opportunities to watch great Ghoke, the red sun, rise in real time, and to ponder the Far Shore’s fascinating mysteries at length. Instead, I could only replay previous chapters. If only Jett had embraced a rhythm as organic as its inspired ecosystem.

Gameplay though is nothing special, pretty boring, clunky feeling while flying your ship, trying to figure out what to do, all the while trying to read small subtitles on screen. Bit of a nightmare to say the least. Played the game for about an hour. Have no interest in playing any more. Full Review »

All of the dialogue lasts twice as long as it needs to and ultimately adds little to the experience. The gameplay is needlessly strung out; you're forced to spend overmuch time on tasks/areas that don't have much to show. There are some good ideas in Jett, but none of them are polished very well. The result is like 5 different gameplay elements all failing to work together, none earning the player's time or interest. Full Review »
