One of the best sim racing games out there, hands down the best race organization so you'll always have something to race any time you log in, however it comes at a price, in my opinion too high, I would even call it price gouging. They know their competition is failing to provide the organization that is required to have a proper racing atmosphere and so they charge what they like about it. On top of that there are small nagging issues that have been there since day one five years ago, like net code issues that often ruing races in combination with the overly sensitive damage system. Example you're are in a tight race with someone else you both do your best to give each other racing room yet the net code registers contact and bends the suspension geometry even though you had a full meter between the cars.
Overall if you're a die hard sim racer and shoddy business practices don't bother you, you'll enjoy iRacing. I myself find myself going back to it mostly because as I said above there is no competition in the organization of the races, in between those periods when I just want to lap I find rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa more than adequate and even better especially with rFactor 2s live road feature.

    Too expensive.

Firstly you have a subscription which isn't too bad at first, only $15 for 3 months. However after your sub is up you better be prepared double that because making a new account will just mean starting all over again. If it was just a subscription then I wouldn't have a problem with any of this, however for that sub you get next to no content, you'll have to pay $10-15

If it was just a subscription then I wouldn't have a problem with any of this, however for that sub you get next to no content, you'll have to pay $10-15 for each car and track. The costs just mount up so much and all the sub promotions are for new people or people who haven't subbed for months. They do not seem to reward your loyalty.

A lot of the content isn't even worth the money, I don't understand why but a lot of it is very dated. Why haven't we got the latest version of Silverstone? Just seems odd racing on the version from, many years ago. I bought that track in excitement because I was doing a track day and wanted to be prepared.... then I found it it was the old version. What do we pay you for? Update old content already.

When is there going to be a new engine? When are we going to have improved sound? It all feels very 2005, we have games like Project Cars, Forza 5 and Assetto Corsa out there now, while they aren't directly competing, they are making iRacing look and sound old.

All this is such a shame because iRacing is the only racing game out there with the online structure in place to mean you can race, have it be clean and also have it be meaningful. You have a penalty system in place, you have rankings and you can progress your career in the game. No other racer has this, I mean most you do like 3-5 laps, everyone crashes into each other and that is it....

I can understand the barrier to entry, if you make the game too easy to get into, you'll end up with hackers and lots of idiots trolling. However I feel like as a loyal player, I don't get a good deal..

iRacing claims to be the best racing sim out there. It surely has plenty of tracks and cars. However, there are many things about iRacing that are not so great. So really a subscription is going to make the player pay more money. At $12 a month you get access to about 5 cars and 5 tracks. Compare that to other MMOs like World of WarCraft were your hardrive loses half its space with each expansion. Such little content. You can gain access to later cars, but you have to cough up $12 per car and $15 a track. Nothing is done for the consumer. Everything has a price even hosting a game ($3). This leaves me thinking that the developer is trying to squise money out of me. Expand

Iracing suggests its the best driving game on pc as reviewed by pc gamer. No where on their site does it suggest its the best and with a raiting of 80 I wonder what they be smoking home at iracing.

The games great although speed doesnt translate like it does in asseto corsa. The cost is a pain, 15$ a month, 15 a track and 10 for a car. Iv spent over 200$ in 6 months of playing and getting to class b, still im short on tracks and cars available.
As mention the races are great, and there isn't a game online that makes you feel like If u crash out u wanna cry due to safety raiting. If you want to create a game with friends in a range of cars at a certain track, u have to pay for this 1$ for 2 hours, although this isnt much it soon adds up and to be honest just makes them look like greedy basts. Even when u have created a race of your own with 3 cars. You, re stuck with the model u choose and cannot rejoin in a different car. I feel whilst I have a year sub going, given project cars and ac coming out that I wont be resubbing for another year as well the game looks dated compared to other. Game looks 5 years old easy. Hope they sodt their act out and also do summin about the price or im gone. Paying to host friendly session lol bloody joke aye.

good points physics, cars, tracks. And the good old community

cons, cost, reacurring cost, hosted session, the service has been down a lot over the past month, not able to see your friends racing etc. Unable to logon n race. Contact to support takes 2 days for a reply ( kinda standard this ). Seen better graphics on a ps2. Maintenence. Although many series are available, lets say 15 or so for road race, only 3 series or so will ever be full. Basically if u own a lotus 79/49 you can forget about racing it as no one ever joins. Like I said I have my issues with this game. Feel free to pm. Also I use 290x i7 4930k with a t500rs wheel. Forget his game if u dont have a forcefeedback wheel. Nuff said im out, happy racing

i love sim racing, but this titles does not do anything for me, Ive had it for several yrs spent $100's of dollars just to rent digital content that i dont even get to use once my membership expires.
The game is out dated graphically and is missing many features that most modern sims have like dynamic weather, dynamic road and day to nigh transition. FFB is decent tho the physics in some

A fantastic online platform is held back by cars that never feel quite right to drive, and a community that borders on obsessive. You'll certainly get your NASCAR fix and you'll certainly have close races against like minded human opponents, but for those wanting authentic race car behavior, where real world setup tricks and driving techniques work, you're out of luck. Tire physics have morphed into an on-going project for the dev team, with cars changing rapidly from one build to the next. This is par for the course with the "games as a service" model, but for a company who claims to be at the forefront of auto racing simulation, handling characteristics drastically shifting from one extreme to the other with each passing build says more than any of their marketing ever could. You can try to bring this up in the forums, but the obsessed fans convinced this is their ticket into real NASCAR won't let you get very far. Expand

Despite of the great simulation, but there are 2 downfall for this game:
    1. Subscription based game
    2. Pay-2-Win
*Note: If you are a rich sim-racer, you can buy it :)*

So realistic it's almost a professional tool more than a game. Still the best realistic racing experience out there.

An impressive game, but not one that will be to everyone's tastes, especially not those after a quick thrill. [Sept 2010, p.88]
  3. iRacing is a very tough simulation and can only be recommended to gamers immune to frustration. Only real motoring fans should pay a monthly fee and even more for additional packs. The graphics give the impression of an unfinished beta, but at least the atmosphere between the players is always friendly.
