May 7, 2021Insurmountable is a very irregular experience, sometimes it succeeds in what it’s trying to achieve; sometimes it’s just boring. However, it’s a nice mix of genres with good ideas.

CD-ActionDec 7, 2021Insurmountable suffers from the “pretty syndrome”. Pretty nice graphics. Pretty good music. Pretty cool idea. Pretty solid execution. And pretty much no emotions. [07/2021, p.34]

May 3, 2022This rogue-lite survival’s ideas definitely feel fresh - its mountain-climbing setting is imaginative and the atmosphere is gripping. It gets repetitive soon, though, and boredom becomes a scarier threat than an avalanche.

May 2, 2021Insurmountable is an intriguing product on paper, based on a particular idea but with a slow and not very interactive game structure.

Jun 7, 2021I’m probably not the best person to rate the physical ins and outs of a mountain climbing game. But as a consumer of pop culture tales of derring-do, and a horrified audience member to that callous motivational speaker, I dig ByteRockers attempt to find the right genre fit for the singular, intense mindset of a potentially lethal hobby.

May 21, 2021If the developers stick with it, I believe they can fill in that content in the spaces they’ve carved out for it. And hopefully they do, because I think they’ve really got something here. Insurmountable has a strong, foundational bedrock, and it already shows how even that, piled high enough, can amount to something quite striking.
