    The first hour or so shows a lot of promise. The story seems like it will at least be somewhat interesting (though mired in tropes) the combat seems like it will be pretty fun. And the art and character design seem amazing. But the further you get into the game the more you realize it's all flash and no actual substance.

And the art and character design seem amazing. But the further you get into the game the more you realize it's all flash and no actual substance.

    The characters can range from charming and interesting to boring and bland. But who cares if any of them are interesting since you seem to pick up characters like a crazy cat lady picking up strays. They just never stop coming! And each one has to give you an exposition dump and a contrived reason for joining your group.

    Combat seems promising at first but then turns into an endless slog of slamming buttons down with no real discernible skill or thought behind them. There is almost no depth to combat at all. It's like they decided to take the worst parts of fighting games and put them together with the worst parts of turn-based RPGs. At least gameplay has a saving grace in the platforming sections which will often leave you having some fun and also leave you wondering why they didn't just make a platformer.

    The one thing that really kills the world is the Cameos. There is a never ending slew of cameos from other indie games or deviantart or some obscure artists throughout the entire game. It makes the world feel like it isn't a world at all but rather some sort of fanfic. Every time I encounter a character in the world I have to ask myself "Is this some weird world-building? Or is this some insert from another franchise that I don't care about at all." It completely destroys any kind of weight to the story and world.

    I want this game to succeed, but I just simply can't see it. The gameplay gets really repetitive. But first, let's get this out of the way. The animation, the music, the background, and the characters are all fantastic. However, they blew all the budget on the animation making the game have a lack of enjoyment and the tutorials. The level design is terrible when going through very tight obstacles with stiff and awkward jumps. The combat is extremely repetitive with no risk and rewards when doing combos because you simply button mash which will lead the same results as during normal combos. When you reach halfway through the game, there will be a lot of backtracking that will drain the excitement away and the same goes for a side quest. (Which I did them all) Making it feel like a choir than a fun adventure. In my experience, the game isn't fun because it feels Lab-Zero blew their budget on the animation than the gameplay itself. I want this game to succeed, but it just needs more content and a challenge in this mechanic. Finally, I kinda force myself to complete the game hoping the story would be good. It's alright not satisfying confusion for my take. Expand

    exploration is a blast, the overworld abilities all feel crazy powerful and make for some very unique puzzle-like platforming. definitely the high part of the game combat is fun, very customizable thanks to the multiple characters you take control of. you have plenty of ways to avoid enemies and engage with them in the overworld, which helps with the issue of a lack of

    checkpoints are frequent, and the save system is smartly implemented, allowing you to reload almost any save made on the same slot

    very fun writing and story. entertaining characters who vibe off of each other nicely, plus a couple very fitting twists and turns. wordy but lighthearted, with the occasional pinch of seriousness in particular when it comes to Ajna's character arc.

    stunning animations full of life, lovingly designed characters, and a slappin' soundtrack. not perfect - there's some glitches here and there and a few other minor issues - but a great game that honestly just keeps getting better the more you play it

    terrible keyboard controls. terrible menu for rebinding, ONLY PAD PROMPTS INSTEAD OF KEYS ARE SHOWN and you don't overwrite the keys when rebinding so it makes some keys do two things at once. due to this and only gampad prompts the controls are incredibly confusing. this is a terrible job, an insult to pc players and incredible incompetence.

    Indivisible is an RPG / Metroidvania fusion that is unlike any other game, but is handicapped in a few spots by subpar UI design and middling writing. Overall it's a very well made game that, after its DLC's and patches come out, should be utterly brilliant. I will briefly cover each element of the game in its own mini paragraph.

    Combat: Indivisible's combat is a throwback to an old
    Indivisible is an RPG / Metroidvania fusion that is unlike any other game, but is handicapped in a few spots by subpar UI design and middling writing. Overall it's a very well made game that, after its DLC's and patches come out, should be utterly brilliant. I will briefly cover each element of the game in its own mini paragraph.

    Combat:
    Indivisible's combat is a throwback to an old game called Valkyrie Profile, where each of your RPG party members is assigned to one of your face buttons. Each character has three attacks (holding down + their button, holding up + their button, or just pressing their button). This game also has nearly two dozen party members, so it quickly becomes a blast to put different party members together to try and combo their widely different moves together. One could just 'mash through' the game, like a standard RPG, but going for stylish combos to more quickly build up Iddhi (a mana bar which you can spend on super attacks for each character) it extremely rewarding. The combat can be as deep or shallow as you want it to be, and you'll be rewarded either way.

    Exploration:
    Indivisible's world sports a highly unique and beautifully rendered Southern-Asia style, which on its own makes the world a joy to explore since this is a setting you never get in video games! You get a grand host of metroidvania style powers in order to jump, dash, and twirl your way through new obstacles. Even better, these exploration moves blend seemlessly into combat. Did you just learn to run so fast you can run straight-through solid rock? That same run will damage any opponent you run into before starting battle! The only downsides to the exploration is related to UI, which I'll get to...

    Writing:
    Indivisible's story gets the job done with a few rather touching character moments, with several characters having complete, well-written character arcs. The story writing is above average for video games, and some characters have well above-average writing for video games. Some characters, however, are just two-dimensional trait or quip machines with no third dimension to them. Perhaps things will get fleshed out further in later updates, but at the moment Indivisible's story is good, with characters that range from amazing to kinda meh.

    Notable problems:
    The game is currently a bit unstable. In 22 hours of playtime, I had two crashes. As with all PC games, your mileage may vary.
    The game's pacing is absolutely stellar, until you hit mid-late game where you start doing sidequests. The sidequest pacing is messed up, not to mention that some sidequests will have quest markers while others will not, making it hard to keep track of what needs done. Sidequests require a fair bit of running back and forth.
    The game's map is also imperfect - there are many areas of the game where the map will show you as being off the map. Some areas may appear broadly connected on the map, but can only actually be entered through very specific areas - while other areas may appear to not be connected at all, but actually are. The map needs an across-the-board overhaul. (speaking of, do yourself a favor and use the pause-menu map and not the "hold up to access" map. Yes, they're different, and the pause map is far better)
    The game is a little on the easy side. I never died once in combat, and there are no difficulty options.
    There is no UI indicator that shows when NPC's have new lines of dialogue, and considering that there are dozens upon dozens of them scattered across the world, that is a quality of life feature that would improve the game immensely.

    TL;DR -
    The gameplay is good if you like RPG's, Valkyrie Profile, or if you want to try something you've never seen before executed well.
    Exploration is fun, but hampered by a poor map! Boo. But your exploration options also tie into combat. Yay!
    The story is above average for games. Some characters are written amazingly, some are living joke machines (but never in a really cringey way like Borderlands)
    22 hours for a 100% completion. 16 hours if you want to gun straight to the end.
    I never died in combat in the game, and there are no difficulty options.
    There is confirmed free DLC on the way, 12 new party members (likely meaning 12 new sidequest as well) and 1 new boss.
    Game's been out for 3 days now and they've already patched a few requested features in, so they're dedicated to fixing problems.
    EVERYTHING is hand-animated and the game looks beautiful for it.
    Best Metroidvania I've played in years

    Very Good!
    Shining animation and kinda warm graphic with slappin' soundtrack that was made with love.
    A lot of checkpoints with smart save slots.
    Fun battles and light story with some good twists and turns.

    The platforming and the ATB-style combat with live-action elements meshed surprisingly well--much better than I was afraid they would.

    Mechanically and visually, the game is stellar. The characters are mostly interesting to look at and visually distinct. Narratively, the game is not very strong. The writing holds the game back considerably, making it a good game when it could have been

    But at a fundamental level, the game is incredibly fun to play and has enough depth to keep me invested for a long time in spite of its flaws.

    I'm playing with a Hori Fighting Commander, and it's perfect.

    Indivisible is a game that takes you to the good old rpg times when you need to farm points in order to make easier the boss fights, also the art made by frame by farme looks gorgeus. the controls are kind of uncomfortable but when you get used to it frustrates you not because the game has difficult mechanics but because you need to improve

    It might be more precisely described as a metroidvania with an active-time party battle system that a friend of mine said was very much like Valkyrie Profile. What I have played thus far is a successful blending of mechanics I've seen in things ranging from Metroid to Paper Mario, and some things that feel truly new, like being temporarily pulled out of a battle with a boss and having to dodge projectiles in real time. While it drags a bit towards the end owing to a lot of backtracking and recycled enemies, It comes together at the end in a big, emotionally moving way. It might not be as heart-tugging as CrossCode, but it is more so then almost anything else I've played this decade.

    The player takes the role of Ajna, a bullheaded but well-meaning village girl with the power to absorb personages of power into her inner realm and summon them forth to do battle. When her village is attacked by the armies of the domineering Lord Ravannavar, Ajna springs into action, wielding her mother's axe and a chip on her shoulder.

    Ajna and each of her party members have a certain number of action points that recharge at different speeds, and enemies can attack you at any point during those recharges or when they are full but you are not attacking. You are actually able to, and should, block enemy attacks, with additional damage reduction if you time your block correctly. The game is very simple to play, using inputs that correspond to the WSAD and arrow keys, or the face buttons of a controller. Different characters have different input commands and functions, and it seems like you are encouraged to switch up your composition if fights aren't going your way.

    Scattered through the game are red gems called Ringsels that can be used to upgrade your offense, enabling up to five attacks per character, and defense, allowing you to not only negate damage on a perfect block but actually heal. Mastering these guards is essential towards the end of the game. You also obtain a large variety of movement abilities throughout the game, obtaining the last and flashiest mere minutes prior to the final boss encounter. Many areas throughout the game test your use of these abilities with hazard courses vaguely reminiscent of Hollow Knight, but not nearly as infuriating, especially since if you die you simply respawn at one of many checkpoints.

    There are a huge number of party members to find, and while you get about half of them through progressing the story, others have to be sought out and can be missed, most notably the aging gunslinger Latigo, who is not even marked on the map like other optional characters. I would have liked more time to get to know much of the cast, but the story tries to make the best of the time you have with them. The mark of a great RPG in my book is whether you are saddened to see the story reach its end, because it feels like saying goodbye to friends.

    I really enjoyed this game. Some balancing is definitely needed, but might be handled in further patches since they've been rolling them out periodically since release. I think this affects the first half of the game the most, since the gameplay is really more of the focus in those areas, but the challenge seems to plateau pretty quickly once people understand the basic mechanics. However, I will say from watching videos of other people play, I don't think a lot of people really grasp the deeper elements of the game as much as they think they do, which is where they get the impression that areas such as combat feel tedious. Right now the game doesn't punish inefficient strategies as much as it could, so you can get pretty far just by mashing, but that will result in slower fights, and a number of characters seemingly less useful if you don't know how to combine their abilities well. It's a satisfying gameplay loop at the core, but the current difficulty doesn't push you to learn it too deeply unless you want to.

    The second half of the game I found really enjoyable in the narrative, and there were some satisfying platform challenges. Overall, it brought me back to the feeling I got from a lot of PS1 games, except a bit more polished in many aspects. I feel like people from that era might appreciate where the game is coming from a little better. Once a harder difficulty option is added, I think it will fill in most of the gaps for me.

    Beautifully designed, Indivisible combines successfully platform mechanics and RPG combat. Story might be plain, but gameplay execution turned out great.
