I won’t sugarcoat things: I hated playing this game. But I recognize that part of my constant misery was due to the roguelite elements corralling gameplay into certain styles and rhythms. In Death: Unchained asks a lot of you, in terms of practice, patience, and persistence. When it comes to roguelites, I am mostly sapped of these things. But that doesn’t apply to everybody! You may hear my dire warnings as a clarion call, a war cry demanding your full attention. The lack of progression between runs, the unforgiving aiming system, and the complex controls all proved an insurmountable barrier. Hardier souls than myself are welcome to scale this mountain, but be warned: the ascent is a treacherous one. Download In Death: Unchained if you’re not afraid of a little suffering and strife mixed in with your satisfaction.

This game is super tough in Oculus Quest console (VR).

    Pros:

    * Fun bow and arrow gameplay

    * Killing an enemy or getting a headshot is extremely satisfying.

    Cons:

    * No casual setting. The game is always in hardcore mode. Health potions / special arrows are extremely overpriced. To make the game fun it would have been better if they were priced at 20% of the current prices and didn't have a price that exponentially scales up penalizing you for buying the items.

    * A slight amount of AI aim help would have made it a lot more fun (like in Pistol whip). I frequently found my arrows passing through the monster's groins, grazing the neck and other areas of their body. It is irritating when this happens. The least they could do is do the damage because I'm not really using a bow and arrow which would allow me to aim more consistently (because the resistance by the bow can allow you to pull in the same direction each time). Here even a 1 mm of hand movement can cause your arrow to be fired in a completely different direction.

    * Pulling your bow fully causes your hand to go out of screen area of the Quest. This can cause your arrow to point in a completely different direction than where it should. A solution can be to implement bow sizes based on your height

    * Archers can hit you straight on from a mile away. If an archer has spotted you they can shoot arrows directly at your head. It's ridiculous! A solution can be in lowermost difficulty don't have archers / mages etc. snipe directly at your head from a mile away. It's ridiculous and extremely frustrating when this happens because you can't aim so perfectly with a VR bow.

    * Plus they can teleport directly behind you which doesn't give any indication on the screen. Solution: have some red arrows pointing to enemies behind you or a 12oclock map that shows you red dots if enemies are nearby.

    * Enemies don't need to shoot teleport arrows. They can immediately teleport in the middle of their shots. Solution = give me a bookmark / recall option to me so that I can teleport instantly when needed.

    * Health could regenerate slowly in lowest difficulty. If you're someone who works a hectic day job and is looking for some casual relaxing fun, this ain't it.
