Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact offers a good fighting experience, but with its poor story mode, unbalanced characters, and obviously low-budget, weak content, it is far from being a game I can easily recommend.

HUNTER×HUNTER NEN×IMPACT is fun when it works, but its lack of content, polish, and dysfunctional online make it a hard sell, especially at its price point.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has potential in its gameplay, and it's possible to have fun with the freedom of its combo system and how distinct the characters are from one another. However, fighting games need an exciting presentation to keep players engaged. Add to that the technical issues, lack of content, limited character roster, problematic online, and the extremely high price, and we end up with one of the most disappointing fighting games of this generation.

At the core of Hunter X Hunter: Nen Impact lies a rather solid and fun tag system, which might have been enough to make the title appealing to fans, even though it doesn’t really reinvent anything. Unfortunately, all the other aspects of the game are seriously lacking—from production values to content—culminating in one of the most unstable online experiences we’ve tried in recent years. In its current state, Eighting’s game simply can’t compete with the ruthless competition. It’s a pity for long-time fans of the series, who have been waiting for a quality game dedicated to Gon and company for a long time.

Long-time fans of HUNTER x HUNTER have waited for a video game adaptation that does the franchise justice. Sadly, it seems they’ll have to wait a little longer, as this one is plagued by numerous modern fighting game pitfalls and its unjustifiable price.

Is Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact fun? Yes, definitely. Is it reasonable to sell it for 60 euros when online matches are practically unplayable unless you live in a Google data center? No. Indexing the final score on the sale price is not always relevant, but in this case, the comparison with the competition - on similar price ranges - really stings the bank account and makes you feel like a big sucker. Buy full price if you are truly a fan, if you intend to grind the disc locally for hundreds of hours, or if you want to get angry with your spouse.

HUNTER x HUNTER NEN x IMPACT struggles to find the fun. While its core gameplay concepts feel like a great framework for intense battles, the lack of balancing sucks the joy out of its 3v3 fights.
