A sometimes frustrating and often fun experience.

Human: Fall Flat is weird and it embraces its oddity enough to make it worth a full playthrough.

Human Fall Flat is a game that’s aware of how unusual it is and builds to its own strengths. Bob’s ungainly controls work particularly well in the invitingly designed worlds that let you play around, cheat and conspire with a co-op buddy.

Human: Fall Flat is without a doubt an interesting little game. The dream-like tone is achieved to great effect, and the core gameplay hook is a solid one that has theoretically limitless possibilities. It is a shame therefore that there are only eight levels, which can be quickly played through in around five hours, and that only a few feel like a true sandbox.

A fresh take on the physics-based video games we’re used to, but gets tied up with awkward camera angles and tricky movement.

As weird as ridiculous, Human: Fall Flat is more fun to watch than to play it because its random controls, something not very good for a puzzle game albeit its puzzles are not challenging.

A competently silly, physics based puzzler. Its wonderfully simple dreamlike aesthetic and solid physics make it a joy to play for the majority of the time. The longevity of the experience is somewhat lacking and puts it at risk of becoming frustrating over longer play sessions. But taken in bitesize chunks with friends, it stands on it’s own two legs as a wonderfully stupid party game.

Ultimately, it’s a little difficult to really understand what the developer was aiming for here. It seems more like it was a project from someone who was simply inspired by the entertainment value of stuff like Octodad than a game that is really looking to break out with its own identity. The potential’s there, but it’s all a little to raw for its own good.

Human: Fall Flat just doesn’t have the humour of Octodad: Deadliest Catch or the challenge of Surgeon Simulator. Whilst it does have a few good ideas, especially with the incredibly fun swinging puzzles, and it’s obvious a lot of thought has gone into how the few mechanics can be used to their best effect, it just doesn’t make up for its many flaws.

Human: Fall Flat has awkward controls and camera angles that make even basic actions a chore to execute. Luckily, the ragdoll physics puzzles, combined with a fun co-op function, can keep you entertained throughout Bob’s short journey.

  1. Human: Fall Flat is unquestionably charming, and tremendous fun when it’s not annoying me so much I want to find the developers and put staples in their toes.

    The Game does too
Human Fall Flat is a Physics based puzzle game where you control both arms separately of a blob like character…
You look around with the light stick, move with the left, press buttons, pull items, and platform to progress through this 3 and a half hour long game…
And if you fall or die you fall or respawn right where you were which is nice... no having to repeat puzzles or re throw switches or pull items…
The first few levels here are pretty short and my actual preferred levels…
These levels really just introduce the mechanics and physics of the game, and slowly teaches you new moves like how to climb…
    And the length was perfect...
It was satisfying completing these levels and then from the castle onward, the game just becomes a chore…
There are some pretty neat physics puzzles here, none will give you much trouble in terms of figuring it out…
and if you do run into trouble you can look for a remote to give you a clue..
the challenge here is in the executing your solution…
the physics feel as you’d expect them too…
but there are definitely frustrating moments especially when it comes to climbing or trying to reach higher ledges…
    No story here,
There isn’t really much to this game other than moving awkwardly through environmental puzzles..
And I enjoyed most of my time with it...
But the final 2 levels were like pulling teeth...
I was just over the game by then as the levels get larger as you go and they drag on for what feels like forever…
Human Fall Flat would’ve been a great experience with a bunch of short levels stacked on top of each other..
But overall suffers from final stretch pacing problems...
    I give Human Fall Flat
    a 6.0/10

Thinking about how to use the objects in the stage, and the act of putting it into practice stirs the imagination of the player. The behavior of the control character is like a twisted clay doll, and it is also interesting that it is not straightforward. The fluffy feel of the controls can sometimes be frustrating, but that's part of what makes this game unique. Full Review »
