Horizon Forbidden West is utterly gorgeous and builds on the original's intense combat, but a lack of ambition and a flat narrative hold it back as a sequel. It provides more of the first game but bigger, with a few new inclusions struggling against the tidal wave of familiarity.

Technically impressive but just not as fun or innovative as its predecessor.

What Nixxes achieves is, once again, a tremendous success, and it was not easy with a Decima Engine that is demanding even for the best PC. The port of Horizon Forbidden West to computer is as good as it is beautiful. [Recommended]
  2. So if I'm honest, and despite my allegiance here, I do think Horizon Forbidden West is probably better on PlayStation, but only marginally. If you don't have one, but you want to play a rip-roaring, morally uncomplicated post-apocalyptic hero's journey, where you get to clear a huge map and ride around on a giant boar that spits fire - and why wouldn't you, frankly? - then you should get this game.
