Hitman 2

It's a solid expansion pack with all the merits and flaws of the original game. And for some reason it has "2" in the title.

It’s more like a Season 2 to Hitman (2016) than a proper sequel, so there isn’t a lot of changes – just a few new story tidbits (in case anyone actually follows the plot), as well as 6 new incredibly detailed levels. [Issue#234, p.52]

There are moments to savour throughout Hitman 2, and they all have a corpse lying somewhere. [Jan 2019, p.112]

All told, Hitman 2 is a heck of a treat for Hitman fans, offering the most refined mechanics, craziest antics, and most complex levels yet seen in the franchise. Each of the five core levels can be played for potentially a dozen or more hours, offering fantastic replayability for those who like to mess around with the Hitman formula. There’s an argument to be had that Hitman 2 plays it a little self, but when it’s so damned good, and unique, at what it does, you’ll hear little argument from me.

Hitman 2 improves everything that was introduced in the previous game. Looks like IO Interactive has found a perfect new recipe for the series.

To be honest, Hitman is an eternal, few game franchises have ever used the same set of mechanics as successfully, and the focus on improving them has led them to this revamp, which makes assassination newer and fresher than ever. If you like Hitman, you will love this.

This is HITMAN 2. A remarkable game and a sequel that is mainly aimed at those who played and loved the first game. On the contrary, those who did not get crazy from the previous adventure of the bald agent, will not do so now either.

Hitman 2 has learned from its previous installment in the Hitman-series by releasing with more than one level available. More and larger levels provide traditional and fun gameplay, but new elements such as Ghost Mode are underwhelming.

Hitman 2 is a good game. One of a kind. Enjoyable play with good level design.

Hitman 2 is a new coat of paint and an updated model of the previous year’s racing car. Sure, it may look similar to its predecessor, but it is improved in almost every facet of production, allowing the player to marvel in its familiar excellence.

Hitman 2 successfully builds upon the foundation IO Interactive laid in 2016. The sandbox structure of each map will surely facilitate several playthroughs before it gets stale. Meanwhile, new additions like Ghost Mode add multiplayer to the Hitman package. It's not perfect, but it's damn close.

Hitman 2 tells the best Hitman story since Silent Assassin and offers strong and wonderfully creative assassin sandbox missions.

Hitman 2 is an excellent more of the same, a game that pushes the boundaries of the freedom given to the players in delivering the perfect assassination. The level design reaches new height in the genre, and the plot is compelling. Sadly the two multiplayer modes are a bit shallow.

Hitman 2 is the perfect game for fans of the franchise that are looking for an excuse to dive back in. It doesn’t do much to improve on the original formula, but the original formula is still fun and exciting enough to carry the game when combined with IO Interactives attention to detail, level design, and NPC AI. The whole game feels like you’re wandering around living, breathing environments that are built to challenge your skills and creativity as an assassin, but that manages to do so in a way that feels fun and addicting even after multiple runs through the same level.

With Hitman 2, IO Interactive didn’t take much risk. The team simply and smartly refined its formula, rubbing away some of the first game’s flaws. And it works: Hitman 2 is a generous and fun game.

Hitman 2 is a good stealth playground, although it missed some of its best chances to be a great game.

Hitman 2 introduces a wealth of meaningful new toys and systems, generously reshapes the first season with them, and then throws in a couple of sturdy multiplayer modes to boot.

Essentially more of its predecessor but with a more consistent quality of levels. Which is fine: its predecessor was great.

The second chapter of the recent Hitman (2016) is a “more of the same”, with some minor adjustments and more multiplayer support. IO abandons the episodic format but the sensation of playing a fragmented game is still there. Except for this, Hitman 2 presents spectacular scenarios and some challenges worthy of note. The level design is still wonderful and compensates for a certain lack of innovation.

Hitman 2 is a familiar experience, but in the Hitman world, familiarity is an incredible strength.
