PC GamerOne of the best values you'll ever find in a $10 add-on. [Feb 2005, p.72]
-
Sabre Squadron's main claim to fame is its new multiplayer options, which allow you and some friends to play any of the nine new levels co-operatively. With the team AI problems eradicated, these levels become far more calculated and precise affairs (so long as your team-mates work together of course).
-
The real reason to get the wallet out and evict those moths is the co-op, still the best part of the H&D series and perhaps the best squad-based multiplayer title out there.
-
Unsurprisingly, it’s a hit and miss affair. That’s just the internet for you.
-
The patient gamer will likely look past the indiscretions I have previously discussed and find a mostly enjoyable, tactical, shooter expansion pack in Sabre Squadron.
-
A good expansion to the original game. It's true that the new missions feel like ones you've already played before, and it's also true that major micromanagement and AI problems--again--rear their ugly heads.
-
A well-timed cue to buy the original game, but not worth buying by itself. [Dec 2004, p.101]
-
It is impossible to shy away from the realisation that H&D as a franchise needs a bit of a pep up in several areas and is gradually being left behind in a genre it once dominated.
-
If you loved H&D 2 but are wondering if there’s any point buying this – the co-op feature makes this well worth the purchase and will see you take up your addiction once again.
-
Overall, the game needs some more technical polish and more extensive AI.
-
The game's graphics are now dated as compared to the latest technical offerings from the likes of "Half- Life 2."
-
BoomtownSo Sabre Squadron is preaching to the converted, playing on the strengths of its predecessor but without trying too hard to smooth its rough edges, edges that are starting to look a little rusty now.
-
Computer Games MagazineUnfortunately, you need human players to get away from the awful AI. [March 2005, p.88]
-
The game does have a multiplayer mode, but no one on the Internet is playing it. When you refresh the server list, you get nothing.

BARSPAMOct 1, 2004I gave it a 10, because it's still the best WW2 game out there by a mile.
