[Anonymous]Oct 31, 2007Poor graphics, bugs that carried over from the beta, horrible memory leaks, and boring, derivative quests and gameplay doom this one to the mire of average at best games.

LukeY.Oct 31, 2007This game is the first online game that has actually been fun since the WoW expansion. It definitely takes the Diablo concept to the next level, and the quality of the past Diablo releases has carried forward to this release.

AndyH.Oct 31, 2007Gets boring to fast. I dont like the idea of charging people either. Graphics are ok, but was looking more for an adventurous game. This game is all hack and slash and nothing else. Dont waste your money.

BrandonM.Oct 31, 2007Game is beautiful, and if you are worrying about the subscription fee. You're paying for constant "expansions" onto the game, new levels, new features and etc. They charge a subscription fee to those who chose to subscribe so that they can access new content, and be involved in other sorts of goodies.

NathanP.Oct 31, 2007If you're looking for Diablo 3, this is it. No it's not an MMO with open persistent worlds, but it is a highly addictive hack and slash treasure hunt game. Honestly, don't listen to the naysayers, if you loved Diablo 2 for years and years like I did, you'll love Hellgate London.

PeteF.Oct 31, 2007For two years I looked forward to this game. I can't remember being this disappointed in a computer game - ever. 3rd person interface is unresponsive. Bland graphics. Terrible voice acting. No story. But worst of all is having to pay $10 a month just for character slots, a 3rd difficulty, hardcore mode, and a shared stash. Electronic Arts ruined this game. What a shame.

AndrewBallingerOct 30, 2007Based on the demo alone, I have a single piece of advice to anybody considering getting this game.
Don't.
Go load up your old copy of diablo 2 / Buy a new copy of diablo 2.
Diablo 2 is a more polished and action packed game that already comes packed with a large community and lots of features. The game play is the same, only the world is much richer. -

MarkT.Oct 30, 2007Static and boring. You'll need good friends in order to enjoy any of this online. Subscription is a joke. Think i'll stick with Solitaire.

BobbyJ.Jan 9, 2008The most fun I have had in a long time. A game that I can just load up and make some progress, without devoting hours a day.

ChrisS.Nov 1, 2007I was expecting diablo 2, what I got was a watered down world of warcraft with lazers. Horrid game.

SteveW.Nov 1, 2007Honestly, this game is finally a decent replacement for Diablo 2, so I'm quite happy ;-). Dungeon crawling, getting rare loot, playing with friends, thats what makes this game fun. If you don't like that, you will not enjoy this game.

AndrewNov 13, 2007Flawed Diamond. Needs work still, especially multiplayer, but the core game is excellent. Playing as an Evoker (the game's high damage magic class) I regularly use almost every spell the class has, each in a different situation - not just TheBestSpell endlessly like in Diablo or Titan Quest.

PC GamerIt doesn't redefine the action RPG, but in a genre laden with derivative games, Hellgate is a refreshing concoction that's likely to have enduring appeal. [Dec 2007, p.48]
-
You might get sucked into the online world of competing slayers and level grinding for a while, but the tedium will kill you far quicker than any member of Hell's vast.

Pelit (Finland)Hellgate: London takes the elements that made the Diablo series classic, and puts them in new, invigorating setting of demonic threat, dark magic and high technology. The fresh world of Hellgate: London is its greatest asset, but sadly the game fails in capitalizing it properly, with quite shoddy plot and generic missions outside the main story. Nevertheless, Hellgate: London is a good action RPG with plenty to enjoy. How the multiplayer system works when the game hits stores will ultimately determine the staying power of the game. [Nov 2007]
