    This is an incredible experience, but I'm not so sure that it's an incredible game. 10/10 on the visuals, voices, and exploration of psychosis. Maybe 6/10 for the puzzles and combat? At some point you realize that the only way to survive is to dodge continuously, trying to get a whack in here and there. Multiple enemies were basically hopeless.     One of if not my favourite game at the moment. If you want a game that genuinely messes with you and has an actual note from mental health professionals on the launch screen, and you like the setting, it's a must. As a standalone game, it's a bit linear and repetetive, and if you're easily scared or disturbed, steer clear.

    One of the few games that made me cry. Super intensive! The combat is great and fun, and you don't have to keep looking at the ground to grab items and stuff. I found this as a bad thing at the beginning due to being so used to do the same in all other games, but this made me enjoy more the scenery (which is stunning) and really immerse myself in the story. I really can't wait for a sequel.

    Historia em si nao entendi, mas a nota se da pelo roteiro diferente de fazer um personagem original que sofre de psicose. Voce se coloca no lugar dela e sente as coisas que ela esta passando. As coisas que ela imagina, que para ela sao reais. Muito original, muito legal
    A trilha no comeco nao te pega mas no final ela da show, adorei. A nota alta se da tambem pela dublagem impecavel e pelas vozes que ficam falando com voce como efeito da psicose.
    Muito capricho pela producao no audio do jogo, fiquei muito satisfeito e surpreendeu.
    Os graficos sao um dos pontos altos , tanto no 2d como no 3d. A senua parece real, nao parece um boneco e seus movimentos te convencem. Em nenhum momento eu fiquei com a impressao de que ela fosse um mero boneco. Suas expressoes sao absurdas e os detalhes nos seus olhares tambem. Muito bom
    A gameplay apesar de cansativa (porque no meio do jogovoce ainda nao entende bem o que esta acontecendo e se sente perdido sem motivacao para continuar) no final te presenteia e tudo faz um sentido. O combate eh muito divertido e eh gostoso faze-lo os erros te punem e os acertos te fazem sentir bem

    What a beautiful game. Everything is in the atmosphere. It is a slow paced game, but that makes sense since it's a rather short game. This is the kind of game that you need to take your time with and find all the lore to fully experience the story and game play. I had a very good time.

    Good game, but it has its flaws:

    1. Lots of Puzzles, not very difficult of you can get easily stuck in a few ones, I hate puzzles but this ones are ok, until it gets pretty frustrating and repetitive. 2. Combat is feels good, until it sucks, aka can't move the camera and you have 3 enemies behind you and you can't turn around nor move because you are also stuck in a wall. 3.     An almost perfect production. The graphics are awesome, sound is great, fights feel fierce, story pulls you along, but does not last longer than necessary. Final fight and story conclusion are satisfying.
    Sure there are some downsides:
    * Walking/Running feels pretty slow in puzzle moments where you have to go around * Target selection could be better. there is no support for mouse-wheel    An almost perfect production.     * You are pretty left alone to find out, what the game wants you to do, but this is part of the game design. so I guess this might not everyone will be happy with that. For example I started pretty late in the game using focus in fights.
    * I personally do not like mixing rendered and filmed characters. For me that somehow breaks the immersion.
    So although there are some points where I might reduce my score, but i just feel this game does not deserve it. They did a great job. I will definitely play the successor.    … Expand

    Beautiful.
    I played it in 2 days.
    The labyrinth and some backtracking sucked.
    I liked the fight mechanics and the enemy types.
    The rest was very gut.

    le jeu est tres bon, bon gameplay, effets sonores et bo excellentes, son 3d qui nous met en total immersion, l'histoire est confuse de maniere a nous faire vivre la confusion et le délire de senuen, mais cette derneire s'eclairci a la maniere dont le personnage se libère de ses ténébres/délires. je vous invite a regarder le documentaire du jeu fourni avec le jeu qui ecclairci les zonesle jeu est tres bon, bon gameplay, effets sonores et bo excellentes, son 3d qui nous met en total immersion, l'histoire est confuse de maniere a nous faire vivre la confusion et le délire de senuen, mais cette derneire s'eclairci a la maniere dont le personnage se libère de ses ténébres/délires. je vous invite a regarder le documentaire du jeu fourni avec le jeu qui ecclairci les zones d'ombres et explique les nombreuses métaphores presentes dans le jeu ( le jeu entier est métaphorique)… Expand

    I really liked this game! This is an independent project, to some extent a breakthrough in the gaming industry. I would recommend making the puzzles a little more complicated and interesting, but it was played very well.

Сюжет очень непростой в понимании и освоении изза расстройства главной героини, но все равно интересный, к тому же, авторы сделали небольшой фильм о создании игры и дополнительно раскрыли внутренний мир Сенуи. Геймплейно игра простая - мы гуляем, слушаем истории,Оригинальная, очень атмосферная игра. Отличная постановка, скандинавская мифология, музыка и общий аудио- и видеоряд на высоте. Сюжет очень непростой в понимании и освоении изза расстройства главной героини, но все равно интересный, к тому же, авторы сделали небольшой фильм о создании игры и дополнительно раскрыли внутренний мир Сенуи.     One of my favorite games. I love Viking based games. The story is really interesting and makes you wanna play non-stop. Gameplay is so fun, never getting boring. Puzzles are adding extra challenges. Surroundings are really well made, the atmosphere is breathtaking. The portrayal of mental illness shown at its best. Norse stories to spice up the atmosphere and binaural audio with excellent voice-overs will make you feel like listening to ASMR.
    On the other side, the gameplay is a bit repetitive and boring. The story doesn't go for the plot but more for the realization and understanding of what already happened.    … Expand

    Атмосфера в игре на самом высшем уровне и главная причина по    Одна из самых лучших и оригинальных игр, что я когда либо играл. Даже на конец 2021 года графика в игре просто шикарна.. я ощутил уже давно потерянное чувство восхищения графикой в играх.
    Звук в игре один из самых лучших вообще в истории игровой индустрии и советую всем играть исключительно в наушниках для полного погружения.
    Атмосфера в игре на самом высшем уровне и главная причина по которой любой геймер должен хотя бы попробовать поиграть это действительно невероятный опыт после которого я остался под большим впечатлением, а если учитывать, что аналогов у игры нет это становится действительно уникальным проектом.
    Главное героиня прекрасна и ты проникаешься ей на все 100% и хочешь ей помочь в этом тяжелом путешествии. Не буду врать пару раз я даже пустил скупую мужицкую слезу из-за судьбы героини из-за всех преград на её пути.. просто невозможно не сопереживать ей и хотелось бы выделить актерскую игру Мелины Юргенс она невероятная!
    Естественно в игре есть минусы и это боевая система. Не могу сказать, что боевая система плохая она просто очень консольная, но если вам понравилась боевая система в God of War, то проблем с этим не будет. Боссы в игре не самые интересные кроме разве что одного который мне показался довольно оригинальным. Фоторежим в игре слишком навороченный и трудно было в нем разобраться.
    Но эти все минусы не имеют никакого значения потому что игра дает настоящие эмоции, а это самое главное.    … Expand

    Fantastic experience. What a game, ladies and gentlemen! A chance to experience psychosis without being a psychopath. Maybe it's not for multplayer gamers and people who like to think they're the champion of games, but it's true for everyone else as an amazing experience.

    Что с сюжетом? Интересное и местами жуткое повествование о психическом расстройстве. Игра в сеттинге скандинавской мифологии, здесь и северная природа с невероятными видами, и небольшие истории о богах и чудовищах, которые можно услышать вне основного сюжета. Графика отменная, окружение раскрывается по полной.    Меланхоличное произведение, давящее своей холодной, мрачной атмосферой.

    Графика отменная, окружение раскрывается по полной. Стоит отменить анимации главной героини, выглядит очень реалистично, особенно глаза! Звуковое сопровождение на высоте. Интересно сделаны голоса в голове, которые шепчут на протяжении всего прохождения, играют важную роль в восприятии сюжета и оказывают сильное действие на игрока. Играть обязательно в наушниках.

    Игровой процесс состоит из размеренной ходьбы по небольшим локациям, головоломок, многие из которых скучные, некоторые ужасно бесят, но какие-то довольно интересные. А также из боев, которые выполнены на хорошем уровне. Выглядят как в кино, очень приятно сражаться. Можно делать ловкие комбинации, но иногда камера мешает, особенно в маленьких пространствах. Под конец бои превращаются в полнейший эпик.

    Уникальное творение, это пример игры как искусства. Ощущение, как от просмотра авторского кино. Очень смело вывернуты на изнанку проблемы с психикой. Игра дает возможность прочувствовать, что происходит в голове главной героини. Это ужасно и прекрасно одновременно. Не всем понравится, но однозначно рекомендую попробовать.    … Expand

Audio yang diberikan sangatlah realistik, bisikan dari kiri kanan yang didengar oleh senua seakan akan dapat kita dengar. Beautiful visuals, perfect sound design, interesting plot and narrative and cool and engaging fights (even tho it gets a little too easy as soon as you get the hang of it. The fights look and feel so good that makes you wantwhat a good surprise for me. I don't like reading or watching anything about the game before playing it myself, so I can have some wonderful surprises like this one.     Now, for starters, this game has no HUD or the typical hand holding most people expect from a game these days. But the game more than makes up for it with the excellently designed audio ques that play as the voices inside Senua's head. It's a way for the game to convey the character's psychosis and also, helps you (the player) sort out what you need to do at a given moment. The game is a sensory experience in the way it immerses you.

    I had fun learning the lore and the character's motives, though i'll be honest i didn't fully understand the story. But that's not a gripe.

    The majority of the gameplay revolves around puzzles and combat. The puzzles are not complex but will demand your attention. Also, the combat makes up around 30% of the game. The combat is basic but it is visceral fun when you do get to fight! I was always looking for the next sword fight. Its minimal, efficient, smooth and packs a wallop. It never overstayed its welcome for me. The actors and voicing are superbly done too. The controls are smooth and i never encountered a bug. Infact, this game achieved more than what most Triple-A games barely manage to reach.

    Let me wrap this up by saying this. Gamers looking for a fast paced action sword fighting game will be disappointed, but if you can look past that and open up to the experience of what this game is trying to offer, then you might end up having one of the best single player experiences ever.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are plenty of reviews that talk about how good this game is. They reference many of the incredible details that make this game such a masterpiece. I just want to share some of my own thoughts about Senua's Sacrifice.

    I came into this game not really knowing anything about it. I had seen the trailer with the fans that emailed Ninja Theory regarding mental health but I brushed it off as promotional material. It was way too intense and strange to actually be real.

    I've since come to believe that Hellblade should represent a new epoch in gaming. A moment in gaming history that needs to be studied and understood in order for other development studios to achieve similar results. Because on its surface, Hellblade really isn't that great of a game. The combat is pretty basic. The puzzles are very easy. The boss fights follow very predictable patterns. And the story isn't even the greatest I've seen in a game. So why the hell would I even suggest that this should be considered a new epoch in gaming?

    One word. Empathy. I felt true empathy for Senua almost from the start. Where it really kicked in was her first fight. I found myself standing up almost in tears by the time the fight was over. When Senua dies and then you see her walking up towards her dead body is one of the most powerful scenes I've ever experienced.

    From that point on, it doesn't matter what the game throws at you. You aren't playing it to have fun. You're playing it to help Senua. I've never felt that amount of immersion in a game before. And I'm a VR enthusiast (This game is available in VR as well which is just insane)

    Senua's character development is the best I've ever seen in a game. I'm not talking about stats and spells. Her actual character becomes stronger as she faces insurmountable tasks that often lead to complete failure. But each time she fails, she gets up stronger than before. It's inspiring and absolutely unheard of to see this in a game.

    I would think that studios would at least take away the fact that games are exponentially better if as much time and passion is put into the character you're playing as is the world your playing in. Ninja Theory went the extra mile to work with mental healthcare workers throughout the development of this game in order to bring together a truly remarkable character that you will fall in love with, empathize with and ultimately lead into hell.    … Expand

    Even if not perfect, it's a really special game that deserves more appreciation. Senua's journey is highly emotional experience that brought me to tears with it's almost every aspect. Truly one of the masterpieces of art of videogames.

    Con respecto a la jugabilidad, como dije al principio, es un walking simulator semi lineal; algo muy importante es que este juego cuenta con muerte semi-permanente, al principio del juego te avisa de esto, por lo que agrega mucha mas tension a los combates que a pesar de ser super super simple, esto hace que no nos confiemos en los combates y que podamos morir facilmente y no sabremos si esa muerte va a ser la ultima, tenemos un "indicador" que nos avisa cuando es que podamos llegar a perder el progreso y es con el brazo de Senua, a medida que morimos se va volviendo negro.
    El juego esta repleto de puzzles que a pesar de que algunos son muy sencillos, son desafiantes.

    El juego es bastante corto, en 6 7 horas lo terminas y si ya te sabes los niveles y demas, en 4 horas lo terminas. Es fundamental jugarlo con auriculares ya que los efectos de sonido envolventes que tiene son espectaculares, eso si, las voces solo estan en ingles con subtitulos en español, para mi eso no es un problema pero para algunas personas si.    … Expand

    Story and scenario also are a prowess. They take roots in the celtic and viking mythologies and are deepen by the analysis and expression of Senua's symptoms of psychosis and life as a rejected person. All of this offers us an amazing lore and a gorgeous never-seen-before atmosphere. The auditive and visual hallucinations are particularly perfectly illustrated and incorporated: the multiple voices in Senua's mind are omnipresent and almost always persecutive (the sound with a headset is so intense) while the setting and environment can change at any time as Senua dives into her memories and emotions. The parallel between Senua's mental issues and the demons we constantly fight is brilliant.

    The game is simply magnificent: the lighting is perfect, the colours are wonderful, the environment, the sound and music are all pieces of pure art totally contrasting with the violent and dark themes tackled. The attention to details is amazing.

    No spoil but I found the ending long, kind of boring, confusing and in total opposition with the rest of the game. In addition to that I watched the documentary and also found it disappointing as we can't even see how much time it lasts and we can't choose the topic treated. In the end we have a documentary of indefinite duration tackling all the subjects of the game at once (the psychosis, the making-of, the long phase of searching for information, the mythologies, the locations, etc), making it seem really shallow and unstructured.     Przygody Senuy wzbudzają strach. Zimny, mokry, świat wraz z całą to otoczką staroskandynawskich religii. To wszystko pomaga twórcą wywołać u grających skrajne emocje. Nazwanie tej gry horrorem byłoby dla niej obrazą. Growe horrory najczęściej bazują na najbardziej prymitywnych metodach zastraszania, podczas kiedy tutaj nie spotkamy się z ani jednym jumpscarem. Trzeba też przyznać że tempo jest dość powolne, a strach z każdą sekundą narasta. Kolejną ważną cegiełką w murze strachu jest ciemność. Gra jest oskryptowana w taki sposób, że w momentach w których powinniśmy się bać wszystko staje się jeszcze bardziej bure, na ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pojawiają się chmury, a wszędzie pojawia się przerażająca mgła.
    GRAFIKA I PRACA KAMERY
    Hellblade jak większość gier AAA celuje w grafikę realistyczną. Nie jest to mój ulubiony styl, ale muszę przyznać, że Hellblade robi wrażenie nawet dwa lata po premierze. Idealnie zastosowane filtry, zakres kolorów który idealnie pasuje do ciężkiego klimatu całości. Jednakże coś co robi największe wrażenie to praca kamery. W żadnej innej grze nie było to aż tak dobrze zrobione. Głównie jest to widoczne w cut-scenkach, gdzie kamera pokazuje nam tylko to co trzeba, czasami buduje napięcie pokazując nam tylko twarz protagonistki, a czasami po prostu pokazuje scenę z ciekawej perspektywy lub popsuje się efektowny przejściem. Poza przerywnikami filmowymi kamera w jasny sposób pokazuje nam co mamy robić. Delikatnie pomaga nam w zagadkach logicznych, a w czasie walki zmienia położenie, dzięki czemu zawsze wiemy na co się przygotować.
    DŹWIĘKI
    Hellblade było reklamowane jako gra pokazująca choroby psychiczne. Nie wiem na ile zapewnienia twórców pokrywają się z rzeczywistością, ale na mnie jako na graczu robi to olbrzymie wrażenie. Wykorzystanie słuchawek stereo i dźwięku 3d oraz głosy które słyszymy z każdej strony świata podbijają wcześniej wspomniany strach. Już w pierwszych minutach gry dźwięki spowodowały, że musiałem obracać kamerą, aby sprawdzić czy nic się za mną nie znajduje. Szybko jednak orientujemy się że głosy w naszej głowie są bardzo pomocne. Pomagają w zagadkach logicznych, w czasie walki informują jeżeli ktoś się znajduje za nami.(być może tak to widzą ludzie z schizofrenią?)
    WALKA ORAZ PRZEWIDYWALNOŚĆ
    Dość tego słodzenia. Walka w Hellblade ssie pałę. Jest niemiłosiernie nudna, łatwa(nawet na najtrudniejszym poziomie) Przeciwnicy powtarzają się za często, a nagła blokada kamery na przeciwnika potrafi wybić z imersji. Modele przeciwników bardzo często się powtarzają i prezentują bardzo archetypowe klasy postaci.(tank, dps, minion, ninja) Kolejnym problemem jest dążenie deweloperów do balansu między zagadkami logicznymi a walką. Jeżeli walczyliśmy przez 10 min to czeka nas krótka zagadka logiczna, jeżeli walczyliśmy 30 min to czeka nas dłuższa zagadka logiczna. Wygląda to trochę sztucznie i nienaturalnie.
    DŁUGOŚĆ GRY
    Kupując Hellblade trzeba pamiętać, że jest to gra krótka, aczkolwiek intensywna. Mi udało się ja skończyć w 8h, i szczerze mówiąc nawet nie za bardzo zostało co maksować. Wszystkie osiągnięcia są połączone z danymi punktami w fabule(i w tego typu grze, bardzo dobrze!).    … Expand

    Loved this game and it's use of audio to simulate psychosis for the player. There are some weak areas in the game but overall it was a super unique, super compelling experience and I'm really glad I decided to pick this game up and give it a try

    Let us look deeper into the essential of art. Actually, every piece of art can’t exist without person or observer, who can understand the piece of art and maybe be impressed. Lat’s imagine a book with the best Shakespearean tragedy in empty room. Is it a piece of art or a dirty paper? I think, the second one… subject to lack of observer, who would be able not just to read, but understand the greatness of art.
    And I really don’t want to describe here the right setting, the right music etc. which create the right atmosphere. Just beg you to be the right kind of observer with intention to understand and empathize.

    [Right size]

    Very possible be the game longer it wouldn’t be better, like a small and tasty candy: one is good, but twenty…) It wouldn’t be possible enjoy the game let say 50 hours with the same quests and fights. However, the shorter timing wouldn’t reveal Senua’s story at all and number of fights would be too small. So the size is perfectly right ;)

    [Human after all]

    I think the reason, why Senua’s story is so easy to believe and to empathize, is the fact that she is so normal. I mean, yes, she’s not quite healthy with these voices and so on. But you see, she is not hyper sexual female with lack of clothes, hyper lips and hyper boobs (though Ms Juergens is pretty enough) and nor hyper cocky with ton of equipment, armor and magic abilities – just normal human being with story, quest, experience and emotions. She is afraid, full of doubts, needing support – exactly like all of us. So you truly want to believe, want her to succeed in the quest and feel really relieved at the end.

    [More than a game]

    If you see, you’ll find out that true piece of art isn’t just thing in itself. The picture of one of the famous Russian artists “The Apotheosis of War” is not just a picture of pile of skulls. It is something bigger, which you may or may not see and understand: story, exhortation, invocation… Likewise Hellblade seems to tell something more than just a story of one person. I think I can’t explain exactly what it gave me personally… Maybe understanding that avoiding negative emotions is not the right behavioral pattern… Or that when life is hitting you and breaking your sword – it’s far from the end of the story… Or that fear and doubts are totally OK but again not the right reason to turn back. Anyway, I hope you’ll find something for you personally and bring it outside the game setting.

    And couple words I’d like to add in favor of Ninja Theory. Dealing with the problem of mental decease, no doubt, changes a lot of lives in a positive way, bringing something valuable for society in general and making this world better. What the art should do.

I consider this game a must play experience, but recommend taking time to enjoy it. Don't use a walkthrough or guide unless you are really stuck. While for games like "The Walking Dead", "Life is Strange" and "Detroit: Become Human" we came up with a perfect term - 'an interactive drama', for games like "Firewatch" or "Hellblade" we still have to come up with a better word for these 100% pieces of art. I just don't want to use the same word to describe products like "Hellblade" and "Forza Horizon". Don't get me wrong, "Forza Horizon" is a great game but the problem is "Hellblade" isn't a game - it is an experience, it is a story, it is a challenge, it is a puzzle, it is art.

    "Hellblade" is perfect. It has perfect audio design. Perfect visuals which are worth to be called next-gen-ish - the main charachrer doesn't even look like an in-game charachter. I bet if someone saw her without knowing it is a videogame he would certainly think she is a real person. Your monster-enemies look as good as they only can look - and it all was produced by independent developers with a budget many times less than major AAA projects have. The absence of any HUD feels fresh, immersive and brave. The developers don't consider their cunsomers stupid which is really rare in videogame industry nowadays. The story this game tells or to put it more correctly THE WAY the story is told is worth to be praised not just by gaming community but by cinematography experts as well.

    "Hellblade" is intense. This game will make you burst into tears in one way or another. I personally cried a couple of times after beating some of the toughest challenges. You know, that sort of crying people get into after being milliseconds or millimeters away from death. Some levels are just morbidly dificult and can feel like a dead end through which you will never get pass through and considering the fact you are sure all your progress will be lost after a certain amount of failures the experience can get pretty intense and stressful (no joke - I don't think I will ever decide to go through Hellblade ever again just because how stressful it gets sometimes).     This game is an absolute masterpiece. The story is immersive from the very opening credits. The combat is not complicated but is very enjoyable and each boss fight has a unique challenge to overcome. The environments and storytelling are what shine the most and I can't understate how amazing the game is.

    Underrated game, the combat is unique and doesn't have a hud wich is great, the multi enemy combat is the best ive seen from other games nowadays, the bosses are also really good and the story is incredible and well told, you have many storys told by different people about a world full of gods, recomend

At some point you realize that the only way to survive is to dodge continuously, trying to get a whack in here and there. Multiple enemies were basically hopeless. The story is really well executed (especially with what it has to say about perspective) with one of the best audio designs in video game, a great soundtrack and an amazing performance by the lead actress. It's not a horror game but there are sections of the game that are terrifying and rely on your hearing to get to somewhere safe. The only negatives I can think of is that sometimes the puzzles can get a bit repetitive and the live action parts can be a bit cheesy.… Expand

    The only real downside is the rather repetitive boring combat. Bosses are a little different, but you quickly learn their patterns and dispatch them easily as a result.     The story, graphics and atmosphere absolutely make up for the dull combat.

    This game will not be for everyone. It is a slow burn, and you will have to put a lot of yourself into it to get something out of it. That being said, it is one of the most meaningful experiences I have ever had with a piece of entertainment. The puzzles and combat themselves are good enough, but the sights, the sounds, the story, and the emotion are second to none.

    This game is kind of a game changer when you know the budget it was made with. I found the animations to be even better than even some more recent games made with higher budgets.

    Puzzles are also clever and well thought.

    Sound design and music are also top notch. It's definitely a game that stays in your mind for a long time and again, when you consider the "small" budget they had, they put to shame many many many other games.

Players expecting this game to be like any others fail to see how this game is independent of any other Ninja Theory games. Every part of this game regarding puzzles, challenges, and areas are worked around the psychosis that Senua faces.     If the puzzles weren't frustrating, I would give 9 out of 10 to this game. Anyway, it was a cool experience for me. I really liked the story-telling, atmosphere, environment and music. 10hrs on record.

    Hellblade can disappoint you with repetitive puzzles, linear structure and the fact that it was stripped down to most basic, indispensable mechanics. But Hellblade is not about gameplay. It’s about darkness and fear and despair. The emotional weight of this game is unbearable. Forget about The Last of Us, To the Moon or Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Hellblade is soul-crushing in a way I never thought a game could be. Remember Requiem for a Dream? That’s what Hellblade does to you. I will NEVER forget Ninja Theory’s masterpiece. [10/2017, p.38]

    If Heavenly Sword had an opposite, it would without a doubt be Hellblade. A dark, gritty, psychotic, atmospheric hell-ride through the forest of insanity. It looks great but plays like a gloomy record. Not everyone will enjoy this dark adventure. But what it does, it does great. Maybe even too great, if I may say so.
