Overall, Heavenly Bodies is a triumphant puzzle game. Its setting and premise are novel and excellently executed. The games succinct 5-7 playtime allows the game to not overstay its welcome and the excellent theming gives sensibility to what would otherwise be wholly nonsensical mechanics. Heavenly Bodies is a welcome addition to an already vibrant indie puzzle scene.

It is, in many ways, an exercise in frustration. But it’s a far more controlled one than QWOP or Getting Over It. Those games leave me feeling useless, unable to achieve, always thwarted. But Heavenly Bodies makes its goals possible, and a sense of progress always available. It is, ultimately, a chapter-based puzzle game, intended for you to win. That’s crucial.

Heavenly Bodies is a surprisingly enjoyable physics-based puzzle game about an astronaut fixing a space station. Unusual controls and weightlessness can be frustrating, but most of the time they are really fun. The game shines especially in local co-op, where clumsy interactions between two astronauts are often amusing.

Heavenly Bodies has a single task: to make us struggle with gravity. Our astronaut must drag, throw, grab, pull, press and more, with the ultimate goal of getting a series of abandoned space stations back on their feet. If you're not afraid to put yourself to the test and are ready for a low gaming pace, we recommend it.

Personally, I played on Newtonian mode with realistic physics - where nothing can stop you if it's not solid. While the PC controls are a bit fiddly without a controller connected, you can pick them up fast. I always felt like when I failed to do something, it was my fault; I could never blame it on the controls or the game. Heavenly Bodies not only looks beautiful, but the sound design is amazing and the soundtrack too. Full Review »
