Time will tell whether or not Hearthstone will keep appealing to new players. With Whispers of the Old Gods the game feels new and fresh once again that two years after the release of the vanilla game still makes it worth playing.

More effective than any other Hearthstone expansion so far thanks to the new Standard and Wild modes, Whispers of the Old Gods brings some necessary changes in addition to keeping things fresh for Hearthstone veterans, all while making things more welcoming to newcomers.

This will change how a lot of us play the game, but there’s always the Wild format if you aren’t ready to let go of any of your cards. With a new set of nicely designed cards and a noticeable improvement in the artwork, this is a great addition to the Hearthstone Stable.

Whispers of the Old Gods is an impressive expansion for an awesome game that’s continuing to grow in a very clever way.

Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods manages to bring a breath of fresh air to a stale metagame. Design seems to have shifted from useful all-around good cards to more unique cards that you build your deck around, creating new and refreshing archetypes. Another solid hit after League of Explorers. [June/July 2016]

Whisper of the Old Gods is the new exciting expansion for Hearthstone and introduce the player to the new standard mode.

Unfortunately the newest expansion of the popular card game not only does little to provide additional depth, quite the contrary as it rather reduces the variety of top decks. We wouldn’t be surprised if in the near future we will only see a handful of identical decks on the virtual tables.

My reasoning is very simple - they've ruined the balance. Basically, Blizz forces you to use new cards by making them so much stronger. Some of the older cards can as well be deleted from the game and very few will notice that they're gone (since nobody uses them anyway). Full Review »

You can only play 1 card in pretty much every turn,so if RNG decides that your opponent draws better cards or cards that counter your cards, you just lose the game and vice versa. Also, the community is retarded (I mean, they still play the game, duh). Full Review »

    Hate it due to...
    1) old cards becoming irrelevant.
    2) the whole xpac being centered around one card. 3) some OP cards forcing you to play

    3) some OP cards forcing you to play C'Thun (3-mana minion with 3/4 & win condition)

Don't get me wrong, I love Hearthstone, but this is just a terrible product.
