I enjoyed Hatoful Boyfriend Holiday Star as a fan of the original. It was great getting more back story for several characters that were underdone in the original, as well as meeting new characters all in the holiday mood.

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star succeeds at providing base-level fan-service, but in a way that doesn’t feel as particularly compelling or essential as the original. If you want more pigeons in your life, it’s pocket change for a few laughs – just don’t expect more out of it.

If you are new to this franchise, you'd better run away fast or play the first one first. But for the fans of Hatoful Boyfriend this is a nice addition to the original. It might be hard to understand, cause the translations are not top notch.

It's mainly fan service for those who loved the original game.

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star is a game that is made just for fans of the first one and does not stand on its own.

A novel interactive unsuitable for all audiences. With pigeons.

If you enjoyed the original game, this sequel will probably hold a certain amount of interest. For everyone else, I’m not sure it’s worth the time.

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star isn't a lump of coal by any means. Rather, it feels more like unwrapping a present and getting socks.

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star is a click your way through several absurd, linear stories about pigeons.

It’s sad to say, but I can only recommend Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star if you’re either a) extremely bird to death over the holidays, B) extremely drunk over the holidays, or ideally, c) extremely both.

While technically sound and well put-together, it’s little more than a digital comic that doesn’t capture the replay value and engaging emotional tale of the first.

This game transcends genres, and the realm of dating sims altogether. To say that cried only once would an aggrieves understatement. I criedThis game transcends genres, and the realm of dating sims altogether. To say that cried only once would an aggrieves understatement. I cried many times. This game is beautiful and whimsical. I would compare it to Harry Potter, the Twilight Saga, and Percy Jackson as material that defines our young generation.
The story of a girls sexual lust of her avian co-ed's could be seen as a generation tale that will be remastered time and time again for generations to come. The holiday atmosphere of the game truly sets a wonderful tone for the ensuing romance and "nest making". In conclusion, this game has something for "everybirdy" and you should flock to buy this game.

It's something original and has a good story line for a joke of a game. The Hatoful Boyfriend series has been my first, and hopefully, my last dating sim game I will play and I really enjoy it. It's a good game for a joke and fun, but getting the average gamer to play it probably won't work. Holiday Star, to me, is better than the first one. Yes, it is a visual novel, but it was quirky and fun in its own way. I really liked and enjoyed my time spent in this game. Worth the money, but only if it is on sale. Full Review »
