Half-Life: Opposing Force was a brief (but in my opinion just-right) expansion for the classic FPS Half-Life. The graphics are dated, but if you are a Half-Life fan, you should definitely give it a try. It's not as good as Half-Life itself, but it comes close. HL: Blue Shift is another good one. Give them a try if you're a Half-Life fan.

New weapons, levels and enemies in the Half Life universe, **** yeah. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of some of the design choices, and the new enemies range from ok to bland. This was an amazing game............almost two decades ago. Don't expect so much from this game, as it can't really be compared to modern games. It's was revolutionary a long time ago and it set the standard for the fps games for a long time, but in this day and age it is nothing more than a decent game that didn't age very well.....

A great addon where we can now look at the events from the side of the soldier. Long enough addon, lots of interesting events, training mission is just gorgeous.

    Phenomenal.
Gearbox has literally outdone them self on this masterpiece of a game. With strikingly superior graphics for this games time and innovative story telling, this game honestly deserves a ten.

The story is fantastic, showing a different perspective. Instead of being the protagonist Gordon Freeman, you now take place as an antagonist known as Adrian Shepard. Moving on the the multi player, it is insanely fun. The excessive amount of explosions going on around you is an exciting add-on to this game. With servers still running eleven years later, this game is fantastic. Don't think that Opposing Force lacks a cooperative mode, because one Coop server is currently running with a maximum slot of 32 players per match.

Overall, this game is a splendid masterpiece and I would recommend anyone buying. It's a ten dollars worth spending on a game such as this one.

This game was almost as good as the original Half Life. There's a whole new side of the story to explore, and what happens to Black Mesa after Gordon Freeman leaves for Xen. Also, the new protagonist and huge selection of weapons make Opposing Force feel more like an actual game than an expansion pack.

Adrian Shepard- i played this game when it first came out. Its been quite awhile and to remember the main characters name says it all. For its time it was one of the best, and storyline and pacing blow away alot of what is out right now. This is a GREAT classic...

My favorite of the original Half Life and it's expansions. It's a unique spin on the traditional add-on where you play through the original campaign path from the military's view point. Less box puzzles and more squad based combat make this a more straightforward shooter but still stands strong as a fantastic expansion.

Gearbox has really done a good job on this game. It's made by a third party, but it still rivals Half-Life. There is a ton of action, you get to command a squad, and there are those ever-tense moments. Must buy if you loved Half-Life

Almost as good as the original Half-Life, with at least 10 new guns and 5 new enemies. You can still make guards or scientists follow you too, as well as medics, engineers, or infantry soldiers. Absolutely fantastic, only thing is that the gameplay isn't quite as completely amazing as the original Half-Life. - 93/100

An excellent expansions for a pioneering and enjoyable game, I finally got to play as the marines I so despised. No longer did we have to "Follow the Free Man", I could instead be part of the assault on the doomed facility. And of course, we had CTF in Half-Life. And a portal gun. YES!

Graphics is not great, but it's cool enough and the level design with brilliant color schemes and lighting styles makes up for it.

Music sets the mood nicely, especially dynamic themes when something serious is going down.

It's 2015 and I definitely enjoyed playing Half-Life: Opposing Force!

    Bad and stupid.

That it was made by a third party company rather than Valve bleeds right through. Weird, confusing plot, until someone explains it I think it breaks canon. Dumb gameplay additions; There are way too many new weapons, which makes the gunplay unfocused, and the barnacle grappling gun is not only very poorly implemented (it is only used about 7 times in the entire game),

    Dumb gameplay additions;
There are way too many new weapons, which makes the gunplay unfocused, and the barnacle grappling gun is not only very poorly implemented (it is only used about 7 times in the entire game), but is a stupid idea in itself.
The new monsters go unexplained why Gordon never encounters them.
Most of the security guards are fat, because security guards, amirite lolxd?
The military squad feature is glitched to hell, as there were several times when I was shot and killed by them because I was "in the way", and they mostly get killed within 30 seconds of real combat.
The enemy AI is completely broken, which is very apparent in open areas where they can stand completely still while you shoot their brains out, and when they try and chase you through labyrinth areas, where everyone seems to forget about you.
The rope physics are pretty cool, but climbing ropes feel pretty awkward, and the ropes sometimes spaz out.
Most of the puzzles are arbitrary, and/or stupid, with the ending boss being one of the dumbest boss fights that I can recall.
The only moment that I really liked was the ending sequence, which gave some needed closure for the Black Mesa chapter of the Half-Life saga, and was overall pretty good

While it had it's moments, it is dreadfully bad most part. Stay away unless you really, really would rather pay 4.99€ and 5 hours of your life, rather than just read the storyline on the Half-Life wiki.

An excellent expansion for an excellent game. It's like Half-Life but with unspeakable amounts of added spice. There's so much content that this almost qualifies to be its own game and not an expansion. Gearbox worked wonders here. In many ways, it surpasses the original Half-Life itself.

In their attempt to make HL more action orientated Gearbox added a ton of new weapons and enemies to fight as well as a handful of memorable bosses. To be honest I would have been happy with any amount of extra HL content luckily OpFor clocked in at just under eight hours for me, not quite as long as HL but certainly a hefty bit of content considering its original and even more so current price. If you you're looking for a good hl1 engine shooter that isn't hl1 I'd be extremely surprised if you could find any better than one of if not THE best pc game expansion of all time Half-Life: Opposing Force. For an expansion, Opposing Force has literally great potential and game play value.

Can't say a lot of things if you played the original game, basically is the original plot re-told from the eyes of the HECU soldier Adrian Shephard. As is a expansion, beyond the relatively new story, it also features new characters, new places, more multiplayer maps and weapons. Like the original

I think the Half-Life games from Valve are really better than from Gearbox. Opposing Force has for me less remarkable scenes and less variety. It just can't compete against the original. Nevertheless it's a great game!

A great expansion pack to the main game . Worth playing even to this day ( same i say with goldeneye for n64) , very fun to witness the events from a different point of view. Just long enough. Just hard enough, great level design. Good weapon variety and enemy variety.
The only minor complaint is arguably the aiming. While the aiming works, sometimes the autoaim is a hindrance.
However a great fps game. And while fps isnt my fav genre , sometimes fps , especially when the fps is good and hard they tend to stick with me. Like this game , moh frontline, nolf, golden eye, perfect dark etc.
    Recommended.
PS: play it after you done with the orginal.
    Thanks for reading.
