    I dont think ive ever said wow after finishing a game before but it would be impossible to not after playing this masterpiece.

    This is truly what a triple-A VR game can bring to the table and knows it. The story, the mechanics, everything. This is the first time something has truly not felt like a gimmick or demo in VR to me.     I would also rate the game with 9.5/10.
    Its a really nice game with a Lot to interact with.
    Until this day there were a lot of small games wich made Fun but there was no real VR game. I thought i was wasting my money for buying the Rift S but finaly there is a game wich i can enjoy. Especialy the possibility of teleportation movement (you also can move with Joystick or half teleport)    I would also rate the game with 9.5/10.
    Its a really nice game with a Lot to interact with.
    Until this day there were a lot of small games wich made Fun but there was no real VR game.
    I thought i was wasting my money for buying the Rift S but finaly there is a game wich i can enjoy.


    Especialy the possibility of teleportation movement (you also can move with Joystick or half teleport) allows me to play the game at all.

    The game is well polished, the only reason i remove 0,5 Stars is the missing Feature to manually de/-activate the flashlight and also the Bug that i cant See the shotgunlasercircle when the flashlight is on.

    Easily one of the best games i've ever played. Valve always succeeds in creating amazing experiences for their fans, and this one is just absolutely exceptional.

    Finally I had the opportunity to play with it.
    This is one of the best game, I have ever played. When you start the game you will touch everything, this is already insane, after that you start play, and you don't want to play with anything else. :D
    If you have the opportunity, play with it, you won't regret it

    Played about 2/3 of it in 15 days with a 200$ second-hand Oculus cv1.
    It's a truly Valve game: careful attention to detail, vast and realistic landscapes, beautiful graphics, good story, excellent gameplay, incredible detailed sound, the full HL universe. And then the VR plus: Great inmersion, very easy to control, you totally forget of yourself for hours, very intense but not scary. I    Played about 2/3 of it in 15 days with a 200$ second-hand Oculus cv1.
    It's a truly Valve game: careful attention to detail, vast and realistic landscapes, beautiful graphics, good story, excellent gameplay, incredible detailed sound, the full HL universe. And then the VR plus: Great inmersion, very easy to control, you totally forget of yourself for hours, very intense but not scary. I end really tired each sesion.
    But the best off all I think is that there's still room for improvement: Physics can be better (some stucks and plane crossings), story can improve (might be too lineal and less humorous than previous chapters), inmersiveness can still be bettter (not very realistic to store things in your wrists. What about a belt?).
    So I'm eagerly waiting for a HL Alyx 2 and I'm sure I'll be to HL-A as HL2 was to HL1.

    Update: Just ended it in a four hours continuous session. Physically and mentally wasted. It was good enough from the start, but man, after passing Jeff, the last two chapters shines.    … Expand

    I was dipping, diving, sliding peaking up behind cover pop pop popping heads before crouch running to new cover to reload like I’m freaking James bond after a line of crack. This is one of the most intense, exhilarating, heart racing, immersive thing I have ever played and I'm living for every second it.    I had to come here and talk about the most insane battle I had with the combine.

    This is one of the most intense, exhilarating, heart racing, immersive thing I have ever played and I'm living for every second it. This game is a new standard and it may become one of my fav games of all time.

    I am also pretty new to VR so can get motion sick sometimes on continuous motion games however I don't get one bit of motion sickness running around in this game. Continuous motion is a must to play this.

    Best VR game I’ve ever played. Took me a day or two to acclimate to the controls and not get motion sickness but after that the game was a blast. Wish there was some more post game content but can’t win them all.

    When Valve released Half life 2 they forced player
    Using steam or when Half life 1 released, PC gaming was not a thing. So lets hope in future VR will be cheaper for everyone.

    One of the best games, not just in VR, but of all platforms! This was one of the first VR games that made me forget I was just standing in a empty corner of my bedroom with a box strapped to my head! Absolutely amazing writing and gameplay that you just can't get with a keyboard and mouse or a controller!

    I love this game! It has a amazing combat system which is both fun and strategic. Plus the upgrades effect all of the combat from having sights to a grenade launcher.

    I have sunk hours into this game because you're always having such amazing time playing this game.

    It has teleportation for all of you that have motion sickness like me, it makes wonders.

I feel that at points the game is stale, but the graphics are gorgeous and the novelty of seeing a vortigaunt never wears off and the ending is up there with the greats, my jaw was dropped the whole time. Summary: If you have a VR it's a no brainer, but if you don't have one maybe waitFantastic. This is the first major VR game and it is great. The story is fantastic, gameplay is great.     I am 35 and I have been playing PC and console games since I was 10. I have played a ton of PC and console games of all genres and started playing VR a year ago. After playing Alyx, and replaying it 2 more times, I can only say that this the most amazing gaming experience I have ever had.     Played on the Rift, the game looks unbelievably good. The graphics from that first look out across the city, to the infested tunnels and decrepit hotel, they blew my away.     It was everything that I ever hoped a VR game could be and I have now played through 3 times, and not been bored for 1 second.
    Thank you Valve, as a Half Life fan, and a VR user, this was everything I dreamed of when I bought the Rift. I hope more developers can reach these dizzying heights.    … Expand

Este es el mejor juego de realidad virtual hasta la fecha, y una necesidad de comprar para cualquier persona que posee el sistema de realidad virtual, incluso si nunca jugó los juegos anteriores.     Half-Life: Alyx is an incredible demonstration of what can be done with virtual reality. Nobody, so far, has put the amount of resources and research that Valve did. This might not be the killer application VR needs, but it’s an excellent game, worthy of the main series of Half-Life.

    밸브가 정말 오랜만에 “밸브”했더군요.
    사실상 포탈2, 도타2 이후로 정말 오랜만에 보는 명작입니다.
    만약 밸브 인덱스 혹은 VR를 큰맘먹고 사실 마음이 있으시다면, 밸브 인덱스와 이 게임을 사는것을 추천합니다.
    정말 그럴만한 가치가 있는 작품이니깐요.

    I bought my VR headset because of this game, after almost 13 years, Valve just nailed it as a VR game and a Half-Life game, it has all the atmospheric these we miss all these years, also the gameplay mechanics and physics are out of this world, its a must play game not only you are interested in the Half-Life Story, but as a perfect video game..

    And about the story, it solves some    I bought my VR headset because of this game, after almost 13 years, Valve just nailed it as a VR game and a Half-Life game, it has all the atmospheric these we miss all these years, also the gameplay mechanics and physics are out of this world, its a must play game not only you are interested in the Half-Life Story, but as a perfect video game..

Putting ammunition into your weapons while sprinting behind a wall for cover. You crouch, you turn, you gasp and I was amazed by the high quality textures in VR.

    HalfLife Alyx shows what's really possible in vr as the first real AAA title. Only other big games are overpriced ports (see skyrim and fallout 4). I would prefer it if for these sections you had more ammo because I want to focus more on the fighting and being able to strafe the area with bullets and have some fun. But this is rare and most of the time you'll have used up all the ammo and will be left to try and take out 2 guys with only a few grenades.

    Overall though it is a fun game and the best bit for me was the start of the quarantine zone until you get to the hotel. This was honestly the best gaming experience i have ever had and will no doubt replay it many more times :)    … Expand

    I've had my Vive since 2017, and every game I pick up has been the same. They all feel like a tech demo, and the devs forgot that the game is meant to actually be played in VR. Half Life: Alyx? Nah. The gravity gloves in this game actually gets rid of all of those problems you would experience in other games, trying to pick something up off a table or the ground, especially since youI've had my Vive since 2017, and every game I pick up has been the same. The gravity gloves in this game actually gets rid of all of those problems you would experience in other games, trying to pick something up off a table or the ground, especially since you have to constantly recalibrate the ground in VR making it impossible to pick things up 75% of the time. But, having the gravity gloves to just flick something to your hand is one of the best features I've ever used in any VR game, and even with its flaws, no other game has come close to this. Besides this game actually being a properly, well thought out designed game that was fully intended to be played in VR with as little headaches as possible, that's not the only reason why it's good. The game is a full, real game. The soundtrack was jaw dropping the first time I heard it, I didn't even know Valve was capable of such things. The UI/HUD is really well done in this game as well, ammo and health are really easy to find and keep track of, same goes for any other objects you may want to collect. The story as well, it is written just as good as any other Valve game, so if you loved the other Half Life stories or Portal stories, you'll love this one. So the real question is, is this game really worth spending $400+ on a VR headset, then the extra $60 on top of that? To just buy a headset to only play Half Life: Alyx, no, I'd say you're an idiot who's wasting their money on a single game. But if you're already interested in a VR headset for more than just Half Life: Alyx, then yea, it's worth $460~.… Expand

    i love vr games,and this one is the best i have played so far. The graphics is so good. I loved the story,and i loved the puzzles and the combat. And i cant wait to se if we get another half life vr. Awesome game. I have played this game 4 times now and im not getting bored of it. 10 of 10 from me.

    it made me spend £919 on a headset, both posters anther £70, and the OST £7. I played it twice. I have all achievements. It's so good it makes all other VR games in the genre boring. It has a lasting impact on me. This is up there with Minecraft. I'm going to say it again, this is up there with the greats. This truly an epic experience.

    Best game yet! the same jaw dropping feeling from riding the train for the first time in the original HL.

    but this time you really are inside the Half-life universe! i loved every second of it and replayed it as soon as i finished it!

    only downside is that no other game can compare.

It have all: story, puzzles (even too much by my opinion), shooting, horror parts, stealth parts and its look like complete solid game and not like tech demo or separated levels.     First game in VR that is not just a gimmick but is actually a proper game great gameplay and storyline. game of the eon hands down. Valve did it again, and I hope they actually make more this time. This is one of the best experiences I've have on a videogame.

    The Game offers a really immersive gameplay, accompanied with the Best Graphics i have seen in any video Game, audio design is one of the best i have heard, a truly amazing experience and a must play for half life fans and players that are going to play a half life game for the First time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game. it takes a while to get really started but the Story is amazing. It has plenty of believable horror aspects that will leave you shaking. A lot of the review bombs are from people who don't own a VR headset and are triggered by the lack of WASD (btw there are mods for this! but I don't recommend it because it ruins some parts of the games) Although it is a prequal it is incredibly important to the story of half-life and isn't really a prequal. Some people complain that the FPS is generic but they haven't really played for very long and near the end it gets really exciting and once you start fighting with the combine it gets even better and that's in the middle of the game. Also the reason that you have been disappointed that it wasn't half-life 3 is that you would be disappointed if it WAS half-life 3 as Mark Laid law spilled all the beans for the story and now there is no excitement for half-life 3. Half-life Alyx fixes this and even paves the way for a sequel to HL:2 Ep 2.

    Compared to PSVR and native Quest games, Half-Life Alyx, even on medium fidelity, looks pretty good. the art style and use of light and shadows is done pretty good. The controls, even on a Quest set-up, also work very well, with smooth locomotion options and some pretty nice VR interactivity. Shooting feels nice, although I would have much preferred body mounted UI with holsters, shoulder holsters, and a utility belt to the button swipe weapon switching. Mild nitpick anyways, the game lets you eject your magazine, place a new one in and slide the rack back, which still is not done by every vr game. While I'm nitpicking, as a left handed shooter, a body mounted UI would have let me freely switch hands between weapons, (right hand for handguns, left hand for shotguns, just like in real life for me) but as it is with a lot of VR games, your weapon is stuck to your primary hand. If you want the gun on the left side it switches locomotion to the right controller, and considering character movement has been mapped to the left side of any controller since the NES, I cannot adapt to that. So I'm stuck shooting right handed, which works better in this game than most for me, but not ideal as I am nearly blind in my right eye. Overall, the controls work well, are easily memorized and never lose tracking or otherwise fail me.

    The gameplay is very good, but not great. If you've played other Half Life games, I'll have you know that general level traversal is pretty much the same. Linear paths, broken up with secret item caches, enemies, and a decent amount of problem solving and mild puzzle elements. I think VR suits the problem solving aspects of Half Life very well. Little gimmicks like pushing barrels over to pull a valve handle off of a broken railing, turning it with your own hands, smashing boxes and throwing trash away to find missing batteries and ammo work really well and are really immersive. The combat, however, can be a bit generic. This is the kind of game you get as a full package, because if you were expecting top of the line VR action and mechanics, this is gonna mildly disappoint. The combat is very slow paced, and really spread out. You'll only be fighting 2-5 enemies at one time for the most part, and they aren't nearly as aggressive or resourceful as in past Half-Life games. The combat IS fun, but compared to the past Half-Life games, Robo Recall, Sairento, Superhot, even the general feel of Pavlov were that a singleplayer game, it just felt like combat in Alyx went in safe and didn't take any risks. Probably in the name of character legitimacy, since Alyx Vance is not Gordon Freeman. Combat is functional, nice, and in character, I just thought it could be a little better.

    Exploration on the other hand is done much better. The gravity gloves are REALLY gimmicky. But damn, they are fun. Just flick that object towards you and catch it, it doesn't get old. I'm always on the hunt for Resin, a material you collect to upgrade your weapons. It highly rewards slow, methodical exploration, and going out of your way to look through every nook and cranny. It's satisfying to come by in a well hidden spot, and in my opinion, prevents the game from feeling too much like a walking simulator. Hunting for resin is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game for me.

    Overall, it's a very solid game. It's a full length game, not just an experience, and it has AAA level design compared to some other decent VR games that feel like mobile games made for VR. I do think if it wasn't for the VR gimmick, people wouldn't be as impressed by the game, and neither would I. A game like this just wouldn't be as fun to play on a flat screen like the other games, because it's a lot slower paced and personal than Half Life 2. As a VR game though, it goes leaps and bounds above what most games made for VR do with their world building and gameplay length. Worth a buy? Yes.    … Expand

There is more comedy than I'm used to in my half-life but that's not a bad thing. Some other parts are downright terrifying and I had to take a break after.     A special mention should be made of the game's dialog, mainly consisting of Alyx herself and Russel, a scientist who Alex remains in constant communication with throughout the game. Their relationship feels genuine, the conversations between them are enjoyable, and almost all of the intended comedic moments land perfectly, which is something most video games seem to have trouble with.
