    Incredibly immersive, atmospheric, very sensory, great music, smooth (Valve index), TON of comfort options for playing (plenty of movement types to fit your wants), intuitive. It's a great game. Was worth it.

    Right as you get into the game at first, it feels great, even the start screen is impressive. The first scene of the games lets you familiarize with the controls, and more importantly, let's you have fun with the physics of the object around you, you can grab the stuff around you, change the station on the radio, etc. This is a very good way to teach the game in a very natural way, and it gives such a big WOW factor too when you realize how great the controls and physics are (well at least with the index controllers).

    The physics are so great, seriously, of all the games I've tried so far, this is the only one I've felt that throwing stuff felt natural, and the stuff actually went the way it was supposed to, with the strength I wanted it to. This is especially important when you use grenades.

    The difficulty cure is perfect, when you start the game, you get only one very slow enemy at the time, eventually the get faster, smarter, and more of them come at once. the combats at the end are super challenging and fast paced.

    The story is great. loving to learn more lore about the Half-Life universe.

    The ending is incredible gave me goosebumps. Overall the game is probably even better than HL2, and it being VR and making you be able to live it, places it even higher.    … Expand

    They really did it. Lived up to the hype. I'm running a 3-year old rig, i5, GTX1060, and the experience is amazing. Scaled and optimized very well. Incredibly immersive interaction and positional audio. Makes you really 'live' in the world, and it's scary as hell.

    This is the new standard for FPS VR.

    Half-Life: Alyx is such a great return to the Half-Life series and every aspect that we love so much about the previous entries is enhanced by VR. This is a step in the right direction and a must play for everyone invested in this chain reaction of unforeseen consequences.

    If you are rich like me you will enjoy the game, If you are poor, Then go watch pewdiepie's gameplays of Half-Life: Alyx, Either way it is a fun game, And don't worry, VR will get cheaper in 3-5 years, It's like SSD which was expensive in early 2010s and now SSDs are cheaper than HDDs :D

    VR is the future. HL:A is the future of VR. Absolutely the most fun game I have played since Portal. I didn't care about Half-Life 3 until this game. I am ready.

    Wow wow wow. This is truely the next level for the art of computer games. Valve got it 100% right. The immersion factor is incredible, the gameplay fun. Having played games for 15 years I found myself quickly losing interest in almost every new game, it's almost always more of something we've seen 100 times before. Not so with Alyx. I actually felt like a kid again. Couldn't wait to get upWow wow wow. This is truely the next level for the art of computer games. Valve got it 100% right.     My only hope is they continue to take the hit on sales (VR community is small) and produce more content of this callibre. I'd love to see another chapter in this story with the difficulty ratcheting up a little more :)

    This is, without question, one of the best experiences I've had with a PC, ever. Period. The fantastic story telling combined with the sheer creativity, bolstered by perfect performance makes this a fantastic ride that sets the bar so, so high for VR games, it's unreal. Buy it. Play it. Play it at a friends place if you can't yourself. Do. It.

    This is my first VR triple star game (i only tested demos and small games) and i am a huge Half Life fan, so this can bias my review.

    Having played Half-Life back in the days this was like a trip down memory lane - just in the next generation gaming technology VR!

    This was an amazing experience and I will be looking forward to more content like Alyx.

    What a game! what a year for game!
    it looks stunning in VR as well, plays well, maybe i wished there was some more fast passed action but overall great game!

    Half-Life Alyx is by far one of the most amazing and immersive games I have ever played, and I think it will be a long time before anything else comes close to it. Between the story, the graphics, the gameplay and the setting, HL:A is a must play for anyone who has a PCVR headset, and a great reason to get into VR in the first place.

    The most immersive and in depth VR title in existence. The tech, level design, audio mixing and ingenuity are among the industry's finest. Small quirks in textures and tracking doesn't set this game back in any way. As of this moment, this is the front runner for game of the year and will be looked back on as one of the groundbreaking games of the decade.

    The story hits right in the nostalgia feels of returning to the settings of Half Life 2, albeit prior to the events of Half Life 2. Some enemies are familiar, some are new, but all take advantage of the new gameplay mechanisms and immersion offered by VR.

    I don't want to give away too much in this review but Alyx is a long single player VR title which is well worth picking up any headset you can get your hands on - even if it's Windows Mixed Reality (or better) an Oculus Quest with a Link cable.    … Expand

I don't really know what I was expecting from it, as the company that made it has notoriously been out of the game making loop for years, and Alyx definitely shows that. The game's mechanics all feel next to identical, if a little dumbed down compared to previous HL games. You go through a set of linear levels solving puzzles and fighting both human and monstrous foes with an assortment of weapons. The only difference is that this time you only have three weapons to choose from, with only two being particularly viable for most of the game. Combined with a slight ammo drought, the lack of melee feels kind of jarring.

    Although the game doesn't break boundaries in terms of gameplay, it still feels that way just due to just how damn polished it is. It's the little things that you don't even think about that sell it best. The enemies react to everything in a super natural way, with hundreds of procedural animations that play out in front of you in real time. The sound design is fantastic, with every step feeling just right. Overall the entire game just is an experience to play, and the fact that you're not even conscious about it all makes it all the better.

    I do have some complaints. While the teleport movement is some of the best I've seen, I still vastly prefer the smooth locomotion option which feels like an afterthought. Several points, namely jumping, absolutely require teleporting, and as Alyx cannot sprint the movement speed is far too low. You'll end up having to teleport anyways, especially in combat, which isn't ideal in my mind. I also with the weapons were just a tad more physical. two handed aiming would have been nice.

    These points are mostly just nitpicks, but they still are there. Compared to other VR experiments like Boneworks, I think Alyx is not the perfect VR game Still, Alyx just does much more right than any other VR game out there to the point where it's easy to forgive it's failings. If you have the hardware, this is the game you're looking for. You won't regret it even for a second.    … Expand

    An absurdly immersive experience, beautiful graphics for a VR game, good level design, cool soundtrack, engaging story and a grand plot. A true masterpiece.
    This is my GOTY, even if the mainstream media doesn't like it so much.

    I bought VR just to have a chance to experience Half-Life: Alyx and I have no regrets buying it. It is truly new level of gaming. Combat, puzzles and environment is just amazing. I am glad Valve created this masterpiece.

    Made an acc just for this, was an absolutely amazing game and you can't diss it just for being in VR. It had a great storyline that left me wanting more at the end alongside amazing graphics and a super immersive environment - it also used lots of static storytelling to give lore on the half life universe through things like drawings on walls, etc. 10/10 Would recommend.

Valve uses small game mechanics to get you exploring every nook and cranny that exists in this game and that's when you get immersed so much into it that 3h are just flying by without you noticing. There are also a lot of darkish/horror like elements in the game that are so beautifuly integrated that you will need to gather all of your confidence just moving out of your hiding spot. And don't get me started on the overall details and atmosphere this game builds up in every new room. It's the most detailed VR game to date. This game is and should be VR only because it's while premise wouldn't work otherwise. Really looking forward to what Valve has planned for us in the coming years. tl;dr: A VR Masterpiece.… Expand

    Half-Life: Alyx is an extremely immersive experience with a multitude of new features and mechanics never done before in any previous VR game, a phenomenal story, and extremely detailed and realistic graphics that are rarely seen even on traditional flat-screen PC games. The amount of interaction with the environment is mind-blowing, even more so than Boneworks    Valve has done it again!

The variety among levels is also well done, keeping the game dynamic and making the player want even more. The story, too, is well-written and with its ending one can only assume what's to come for this fantastic game and series overall!

    that's nice! I like Half-Life Alyx, he is a real VR 3A game. Has a first-class graphics and interactive gaming experience. On the VR platform, the game atmosphere has been qualitatively improved.

    One of the BEST VR games and best AAA video games released in these past years, I've played almost every single triple AAA game release from the past decade or so and this is one of the few that made me want to replay it right after finishing the game. One of the best looking and most interactive VR titles, a definite MUST PLAY for all vr owners and half life fans.

    Awesome game. Not just awesome VR game, but also a great game in general. They really got that sweet spot between too scary and not enough scary, and the experience is amazing overall. I'm happy I bought an Oculus Rift S a few months ago, as they seem out of stock everywhere now, in part because of this game.

    It's not half life more than 2 less than 4 but it's nevertheless an half life game and valve still got the old magic. Source 2 looks great. Hope we won't have yo wait 13 years for the next game...

    Realmente una obra de arte y una revolución en el mundo del gaming. Desde la primera entrega Half Life siempre fue sinónimo de calidad y esta no es la excepción. Mejor juego del año en mi opinión y la protagonista es una mujer fuerte y admirable sin tener que recurrir al feminismo progre barato de otros juegos como TLOU2.

    Best VR Game ever. This game competes and embarrasses Non-VR Games too. Great combat with great level design and a nice story. This game is genuinely scary too. Some of the puzzles are complete BS, and sometimes I have no clue where to go, but other than that, it's a fantastic game.

    This is the best VR game ever (at least until Valve makes the sequel or someone else takes the crown). And yes, I’ve played almost all the top AAA VR games that have been released so far. It’s not even close. Why? Mainly 2 reasons:
    1) The Source 2 engine... and 2) Valve having time on their hands or no pressure on release date or window.
    Source 2 is amazing (I recommend you read about what    This is the best VR game ever (at least until Valve makes the sequel or someone else takes the crown). And yes, I’ve played almost all the top AAA VR games that have been released so far. It’s not even close. Why? Mainly 2 reasons:

    Source 2 is amazing (I recommend you read about what went into development of the engine and the game. The result speaks for itself). You can tell the engine was built with VR in mind first. Which is why it's the best looking and most complete VR game by a long shot. Sure, UE4 looks great in Asgard’s Wrath and Robo Recall (to name a few), but HL: Alyx just takes everything to another level. Textures look amazing even up close, and it scales beautifully from Lower graphic settings to Ultra. The rest tho is so smooth and on point. The audio, physics, controls, plenty of locomotion and movement options for everyone. Not to mention, story, dialog and pacing. Which is why I would tend to agree with some reviewers that say this may just be the best HL game in the series. Simply put, *everything* is excellent about this game. There’s very little they could have done better, but if I had to pick it would be the weapon management system. There are times where I think it would have been better to use different locations to store your 3 guns and Multi-use tool like Robo Recall and the TWD-Saints & Sinners do by storing them on different locations of your body instead of using the Wheel option, but that’s just me. Other than that, this is a must-own. VR’s true killer app, even if it doesn’t go on to make people rush to buy powerful PCs and VR headsets. This.Is.It.     Amazing game, definitely worth getting VR for. Plenty of replayability due to fantastic level design and secrets. Community maps and mods is also a huge plus. Great story and moment to moment gameplay. A must for any half life fan or someone interested in VR.

    I've finished this game four time. And every time i had the same feeling. I've never seen anything like this in my life. There's no turning back from here. This is the NEXT GEN, everyone who played this game knows it. Just unbelivable.

    it is what Avatar was for the movies. My expectation was high. It blow it! maybe it's cause i own a rtx 3080 card and a reverb G2.
    But dawn this game is crazy. To be honest; it have more inpact on gaming than the legendary Super mario bros( For Me ). Hope every gamers experience it in there life sometime. i know it's not possible right now for everybody. But guys...those guys are just genius.

    With all the hype I expected too much. Didn’t help that I’m not used to playing long with the VR set. I see why it was not released without VR support though. Nice touches. Too bad more people will not play though.

    Watching other people play this game for the first time (I like dropping them in somewhere in the middle of chapter 2) is almost as fun as playing the game yourself. Half Life Alyx is a jaw dropping, gut wrenching, hopelessly entertaining experience. Simply put, it's ahead of it's time. An utter masterpiece of fiction. Get vr, if only for this game. It's worth it.

    This game is amazing to the people who like the series and like VR. I am glad that Valve made a VR game because the folks who have a VR headset want more games like this and boneworks. The story is good and the gameplay is immersive. The amount of detail in this game is insaine. If you have a VR this is a must buy game.

In my opinion-this is a great game, with unique interactions and great graphics, as well as mechanics, and all this is not something that is not worse than in Boneworks, it's better! The same hands in Boneworks are implemented much worse than gloves, especially since they have very serious problems with displaying, when in half life the elbows are still taken into account, but simply are not displayed. The graphics component is much better in Half-life (especially for VR). And everyone's favorite game series Portal black humor, no worse than in the same series of games Portal. Half-life: Alyx - rightfully deserves a place in the series of games Half-life, it is not worse than the expected part 3, and given that it is for VR, it can even be better.
    I will also add that "this is for the owners of VR, and it costs a lot, valv rolled down", this is a unique VR gaming experience, and it is simply impossible to transfer it on the keyboard with the mouse! From the outside, people who whine about it look like mobile gamers who whine that games are for PC, only for PC, "hmm, why don't developers port all their PC projects to the phone", maybe because on a small screen, 2 quarters of which are occupied by touch buttons - the entire full-fledged gaming experience can not be transferred... VR is a new era in the gaming industry, and VALVe had to show that it is a full-fledged gaming platform, and not toys for freaks, just as they once did in 1998.     One of the best games of all time, Period. VR or otherwise The graphics are astounding, the game play is revolutionary. Way ahead of its time. As all the things valve has done over the years it is a glimpse of what is possible. No one could have done it better.

    Optimized, only minor bugs for a day one release, outstanding in term of graphics, gameplay and physics. Is this game still a half life ? It's a modern half life and I want more. If you already like what you see from a computer, you won't belive it once in vr.

    Every half-life has set a new bar and this is no different, the game was designed for comfort but while bringing the advanced options to players so you can climb ladders vault over railing and more. This is the best looking VR game I have ever seen and there is so much to experience in this world.

    A special mention should be made of the game's dialog, mainly consisting of Alyx herself and Russel, a scientist who Alex remains in constant communication with throughout the game. Their relationship feels genuine, the conversations between them are enjoyable, and almost all of the intended comedic moments land perfectly, which is something most video games seem to have trouble with.
