A fun, free cut-content map from Half-Life 2. Great voice acting work, fun gameplay. There's not a lot I can say about it. It's short and .. free. Well, now this thing is telling me I need 150 characters in my review.

This is pretty much a tech demo and it's free! I loved Half Life 2 so much I decided to play and I think this should have been part of the original. Wonder why they cut it out.

It's completely free, so I really don't know why anyone would give this a negative rating. There's a reason that it's short, it's like a deleted scene from the original game. It's also pretty fun while it lasts, with a couple troops of Combine to snipe and a helicopter to shoot down. All in all, it's a fun way to spend twenty minutes, or if you just need a Half-Life fix.

A very good-looking tech demo. This game is a 10 for what it is. It is very pretty and it's a good way to test your computer's graphics card for use with a different Source Engine game.

This game is $99.99 on steam. This action packed campaign offers almost 30 minutes of intense walking around while fighting probably over 20 enemies or so. More than a game, this is a technical demo for the use of HDR in the Source engine. It was to be part of the campaign's original Half-Life 2 but the cut for this reason. It is still quite entertaining this map, with about 30 minutes, maintaining good quality (even no dialogue) and variety. Turn opens the way comments, where developers can discuss changes and game details.

This is just Valve showing off the impressive ability of the source engine and how it can offer high quality graphics that function on basic computers. This is worth your time if you enjoy your half life series and have a spare 20 minutes in your glorious life full of exploring and meeting people.

A completely free, fun-to-play, awesomely designed new level for a fair-priced, love-to-play, greatly designed game. Could this be a letdown? No it could not. I really don't understand why it wasn't included in the original game: Lost Coast is surely worth it.

Can't get enough of that sweet 'Half Life' action? Yeah, I understand. With everyone patiently awaiting the arrival of the highly sought after 'Half Life 3', some of us are forced to take more drastic measures in getting our 'Half Life' fix. We're forced to replay the original 'Half Life' games, yep all three of them, even 'Opposing Force'. We're forced to replay 'Half Life 2', yep everyCan't get enough of that sweet 'Half Life' action? We're forced to replay the original 'Half Life' games, yep all three of them, even 'Opposing Force'. We're forced to replay 'Half Life 2', yep every episode, and eventually, when there's nothing 'Half Life' related left to play, we must play through this early tech demo of a removed section of 'Half Life 2' redesigned to showcase Valve's HDR lighting.

But in all seriousness, 'Lost Coast' is a twenty minute demo where you basically walk around admiring the world's surroundings. And when I say admiring, I mean admiring. Seriously, I must have taken in the scenery for over an hour while walking through this demo. And I especially loved the area with the staircase where you get to see Valve's fancy new lighting software and how it mimics what the eye sees in real life. It really is quite impressive, and still is, seeing as how I played through this demo in 2015; 10 years after it's initial release.

You also get the chance to fight some bad guys, solve a very simplistic puzzle that honestly took me way too long to solve, and shoot down a black helicopter (yeah, those black helicopters) with a rocket launcher. The real reason however to play through this demo is to get a chance to hear from the developers themselves with the added in commentary. Aside from that it's pretty much everything you'd expect to see while playing 'Half Life 2'.

Even that is nothing more than a playable tech demo, lost coast introduce all the features from the main game in a length of 20 minutes or less.
Lighting is amazing, the reflective shaders are great, the water effects looks real!!!! this tech demo is not just a walk simulator, it works like a short mission in which you will use your weapons and defeat enemies.

Можно ли назвать это отдельной игрой?
    -Конечно нет
Честно говоря, это не дотягивает и до отдельной главы, но всё же довольно интересно было в это поиграть.

A fun 10 minutes of gameplay. Still I wish it was part of the Highway 17 in Half-Life 2 and not just a stand-alone just to show the high-dynamic-range lightning

This game is very good, it is a pity that it is very short. For one thing, we were shown a beautiful HDR Sourse engine.

Tiny (takes only quarter of an hour) technological demo which showed fans Source engine's possibilities and potential. Graphics is even more polished. I got it for free, therefore I see it as a just few more free minutes of exceptional game, which Half-Life 2 was without doubts.

Nettes Addon für Half-Life 2. Man bekommt direkt wieder Lust auf das Hauptspiel wegen dem guten Gunplay und der tollen Welt. Leider sehr kurz.

A great extra episode, it's short but a lot of fun, it's my recommendation for anyone who's played the other Half-Life games and wants something more.

This level is included for free with a purchase of Half-Life 2. I remember when I first played Lost Coast many years ago, I was extremely impressed with the visual upgrade Lost Coast had over vanilla Half-Life 2. The action was also fun and appropriately difficult. If you want to try a level with impressive visuals and architecture, give this an hour.

    MINI-REVIEW:

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is a short tech demo created by Valve Softwares to showcase in part the creative process of developing a game map, and in part to demonstrate the power of the then-new HDR technology. This short adventure sees the player take on, as usual, the role of Gordon Freeman, grand scientist protagonist of all previous Half-Life games. The mission is set on a small shore pockmarked by the hostile presence of the Combine, a corporation hostile to Freeman's. The game, when started with the commented mode, will have several points of interest that are explained by the voice of Valve's various developers, with minor intrigues and complications in the development and several trivia points that never tire. The mission does not introduce much new compared to the original Half-Life 2, but it does boast extremely cleaner and more detailed graphics, thanks of course to the use of HDR and beyond. In conclusion this turns out to be an excellent test of what the later Source Engine would become, leading to such great titles as the two Portal games.
