    The game itself can be a lot of fun and feel familiar for fans of classic deathmatch games like Half Life: Deathmatch or Unreal Tournament, and if played as such this game can be greatly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the community seems to be really putting an effort into deliberately ruining the game. All of the other community created gamemodes are completely and utterly horrible. Even worse, out of all the servers running deathmatch maps, less than half of them are running Valve/stock maps. Most of the are running awful "killbox" maps, which are...well...just awful. tl;dr The game is good granted you are lucky enough to be able to find a server that isn't horrible. Stick to default gamemode and play Valve maps and/or Valve-tier community maps.… Expand

    This was a fun diversion once upon a time but feels tacked onto HL2. Gameplay revolves around your typical online shooter gameplay (memorize map, find & camp 1 hit kill weapons) and has nothing remarkable about it. A real disappointment considering how amazing Half Life 2 was.

    I had a lot of fun playing this game. The gravity gun adds a whole new dimension to the deathmatch game. I actually like the server system. The problem is many weapons are way too overpowered and way too many maps are just boring killboxes. For instance, the crossbow was meant to be a different way of sniping that required timing and physics logic. However in close combat the crossbow'sI had a lot of fun playing this game.     While not nearly as good as other Valve multiplayer games we've come to expect (such as Counter Strike) HL2 Deathmatch is a nice new take on the old deathmatch formula improved with Half Life 2 weapons and teams. My only major complaint is the lack of offline play with bots and the lack of actual people to play with. I would find HUNDREDS of servers but almost no Team Deathmatch servers!While not nearly as good as other Valve multiplayer games we've come to expect (such as Counter Strike) HL2 Deathmatch is a nice new take on the old deathmatch formula improved with Half Life 2 weapons and teams.     A FANTASTIC multiplayer experience, that is if you have the skill. If not, it gets incredibly annoying and frustrating. Even if so, getting this along with the regular HL2, is definitively worth it, I never really knew why they released the two games separately...

    Adding a multiplayer mode to Half Life 2 was a great idea but I feel like this Deathmatch title could be way more better than it is. Maps are too difficult to memorize and if you don't have a large group of friends available to play you either end up playing a very large map with a few people (spending more tiem searching for people than actually fighting them) or playing online withAdding a multiplayer mode to Half Life 2 was a great idea but I feel like this Deathmatch title could be way more better than it is.     С друзьями можно поиграть пару вечеров.
    Такая оценка, поскольку нет новизны. Вообщем-то HL2 не особо то и нужен был сетевой режим, в отличии от первой части, где он был реально крутой и в тему.    В принципе пойдёт, живые сервера есть, физика классная.

    Half Life 2 Deathmatch.
    Gameplay:
    It has good mechanics, but it feels all over the place and not focused at all. It can be fun at times, but it's not really impactful and satisfying. It's just not smooth and the maps are not very good. Also, it can be painfully easy. But, I like that you can have so many weapons with you, making the experience liberal. And, also, I like how you can use    Half Life 2 Deathmatch.

    Fantastic graphics for it's time, and it's physics save the game from it's mediocrity. (9/10)
    Sound: It has good sound effects for it's time. (8/10)
    Replay Value: A poor replay value at best. (4/10)
    Half Life 2: Deathmatch is a very forgettable game, but I play it rarely just to relax myself.

    Simple, straightforward deathmatching with Half-Life 2 weapons. Unremarkable on its own, but the basis for many, many a mod, and an icon of an era when higher health pools mattered.
