(I made a review on Steam, about 2 years ago and the introduction to my review will say that as well, so just disregard the intro and read through the rest)

I first made this review in either April or August of 2016, and hell, it was a very fun game. Amazing core-gameplay had me coming back to it for about a year and maybe 1 or 2 months.

After that.. well, let's just say after that time had passed, they started changing the game. Not in a good way. I was down with the game, absolutely loved it. Now it's become a garbage can of a game with weapons becoming hitscan (I believe, not 100% sure that they have 0 bullet drop) and feels more like the people who made the game tried to make 'H1Z1 2' by changing the mechanics of the game so much that it radically altered the identity of this poor, amazing game.

When you thought of "H1Z1" in 2016, you (more than likely) immediately thought of having a genuinely fun experience whenever you played because the game (although unreliable with its hit-reg AT TIMES) had a strong base and very rewarding gun-play, along with a dedicated fanbase that made you feel like you HAD to improve just to win 1 more game for the day, because everyone was striving to become better and get that chicken dinner. And now, in September of 2018, when you hear "H1Z1" you probably think of a dying, unintuitive Battle Royale game that mixed in gunplay from Black Ops with its hitscan weapons, instead of the amazing projectile based gunplay from the time when the game released, as well as what we've come to love about PUBG.

The entire aspect of having an AR battle with someone 100 meters away, and hearing those satisfying hits of armor or flesh when you're aiming a good inch above their head or having a sniper and trying to shoot someone while calculating bullet drop, as well as them moving in a car at 60mph was so appealing and was done so RIGHT in the first iteration of the King of the Kill game-mode, and they undermined everything by straying too far from what made H1Z1 a popular game. This game has fallen from it's pedestal because of a company full of greedy developers by following the standard "Battle Royale" formula, and now the game has gone from (on average in 2017) 60k concurrent players every day to just about 3k today.

Thank you, Daybreak, for destroying a game I once held very dear to my heart as one of the best Battle Royale-esque games that has ever been created.

H1Z1 is for me the father of the Battle Royale, but unfortunately the game has lost its way in so many ways.
A game that I bought and played in early access but, when the final product came, it became part free, is something that obviously annoyed me, and the feeling is the same throughout the community.
Of course the game split into two, H1Z1 free, PVP Battle Royal only, and Just

I cannot in good faith recommend the game because I do not feel valued as a player who blindly invested in early access and had no real reward. But I cannot recommend it either because of the game itself. There are already much better alternatives in the battle royale genre, and this was a "father" that never understand how to adapt.

Anyway it is free and for anyone who has the opportunity and willingness to test, go for it. The servers are not always full but the experience is acceptable.

Not funny to play, this game has not resolved any of its core problems like optimization over 3 years out on the market. Play Fortnite or PUBG instead this games are fresh H1Z1 is old trash.

The game is very fun and can be played alone or in a team of 2 or 5 members. The goal is to survive until the end. Over 100 players start all over the map. After certain time intervals the map is made smaller and wrapped with lethal gas. All over the map are for example houses and campsites you can loot.

Pro: - There are enough players so it will be exciting. - Animations and player

    Pro:
    - There are enough players so it will be exciting.
    - Animations and player controls work fine and smooth.
    - The map is well designed and provides almost everywhere loot places. Even if you end up somewhere away from cities you can find good equipment.

    Cons:
    - There are not enough weapons. Every round you try to loot an AR or AK and a shotgun. There is no greater selection.
    - The rewards are not valuable and worth barely. The most valuable thing you win at the first places are two different bags. These bags contain 1 of only 5 skins. After a few conquer you unlocked everything.
    - While playing you get randomly crates which can be opened by a key. But these keys are only available in H1Z1 Store and costs around 2.50 Euros.

Conclusion: Its really a funny game with normal graphics. If you are looking for fun alone or with friends, this game is perfect for in between. But if you're looking for a game where you want to achieve something (like a level), you are definitely wrong. I'm wondering what next updates would bring, because this game is still expandable.

Very great game, with a high potential ! The gameplay has been drasticly improved compared to september, and it's now free to play ! I bought the game in june 2017 and I saw the decrease ammount of players and the poor quality of the game. However, since february, the game is doing great and the updates are awesome ! H1Z1 might not have the personality, nor the same production level of as some of its competitors, the game still balances arcade and simulation well to feature all the tension required in the genre.

H1Z1 predicates itself on eliminating the more random factors seen in other battle royale games, and it remains a competent execution of the genre. The game has its intense moments and exhilarating firefights; the thrill of besting 100+ players is very much present. However, the incoherent gameplay elements overshadow the better moments, and the lack of variety in both map design and weapon selection makes H1Z1 lose its appeal rather quick, especially in the genre it spearheaded.

H1Z1 may well have been inspired by the original version of PUBG, and it shows, but in Auto Royale it provides one of the most fun battle royale modes out there.
