I think this is the best expansion pack Anet released for Gw2:

    1) The story is well written and is able to connect most of the past plot points in an elegant way, leading to a satisfyng conclusion for the dragon journey gw2 started 9 years ago. It introduces many new characters along the way that get likable very fast, thank also to the amazing voice acting that is able to give them a distinct personality (both for good and evil characters).

    2) The maps aesthetic is just breathtaking. The art developers already demonstrated their ability in creating amazing maps with the previous 2 expansions, but this one takes the level one step further. Compared to the previous expacs where HoT was all jungle and PoF was all desert, EoD maps offer and unprecedented ambient variety, from a peaceful rural island, to a technological modern city, from a dark deep forest to an open frozen sea. Every view you take, everywhere you go is just eye candy that leaves you in awe.

    3) The meta events are fantastic. Similar to HoT meta events, most of them require coordination between players, and the bosses aren't just dps sponges but are able to fight back very significantly. Bosses mechanics are either completely new or take a page from the raids bosses book, meaning that even in open world players can have a taste of the challenges instanced endgame content is going to provide, allowing new players to learn in a more relaxed environment and making at the same time the open world bosses more engaging. Special mention to the final meta event (no spoilers) in the final map. I genuinely think that not only is the best meta event in all gw2, but one of the best gaming experiences i ever had in an MMO.

    4) EoD strike missions are an amazing addition to instanced content. These 4 new strike missions, check every box that make instanced content fun. They introduce a lot of mechanics that can't be cheesed with healer stacking, the fights are very clear in their telegraphs and very engaging, keeping the players always on their toes to perform mechanics correctly. Despite this, these strikes are also surprisingly approachable for new players because there aren't hard enrage timers if the dps is slow and the difficulty is tuned just right to not make them frustrating for inexperienced groups. At the time of this review a challenge mode version of these strikes is in program to be released shortly that should bump up the difficulty even further, and i can't wait to experience it myself after how good of an impression the normal mode left me with.

    5) The music is incredible. I'm no musician so i can't talk about it in a technical way, but i can tell you the feeling it leaves you with is just amazing. It's able to get you fully immersed to what is happening on screen, always, and i genuinely think is one of the best work the Anet music team ever did, putting to shame music from other MMOs and single player games.

I'm non giving a 10/10 only because, at the moment of this review, the elite specializations from EoD, while very original in their ideas, are in my opinion a bit chaotic in their theme and functionality, making some of them not very satisfyng to play compared to their counterparts of the previous expansions.

Overall End of Dragons is well worth it's price, and will give you a gaming experience you won't regret, i promise.

End of dragons has delivered in a lot of ways, and failed in a few. The main takeaway is that they have set the foundations for more robust content releases in future, and some really stellar room for feature expansion.

The story, soundtrack, and gameplay of the expansion is wonderful.

Excellent map design, interesting events and meta events, putting the massively in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game with all possible multiplayer focused content. Better story beats than previous expansions.

Long time GW2 player, just finished the core EOD story, playing virtuoso and I have done some of the 10 man strikes last night. Overall 10/10 for me. Very interesting masteries to play with, fun zones to explore. The third zone in particular is jaw dropping. Lots of fun little easter eggs for old GW1 factions players, and a ton of stuff to do, collections, titles, etc. Great job, arena net!

I've been playing since 2016, and this may be my favorite expansion yet in terms of story, aesthetic, and map design. The magic is back. Also, the clear investment in GW2 with the engine upgrade to DX11 and the implementation of Alliances in WvW shows that ArenaNet are betting on the longevity of this MMO.

As for EoD, it is so f*cking good. Everything from story, soundtrack, voice acting, maps, new features (Jade bot, skiffs, fishing and turtle mount), PvE content (map events and Strike Missions) is on pair with the best in the MMO market.

This expansion cements GW2 as one of the the best MMOs in the market, unfortunately a hidden underrated gem that has yet to find its place in the spotlight. Hopefully this game starts getting the attention it deserves.

While the new Elite Specifications for Guild Wars 2’s 9 playable professions still require a degree of balancing, everything else in this expansion is as perfect as one can hope for in a modern release. The story is full of call backs and well written dialogue, and the setting of Cantha is immaculately fleshed out with lovable characters and gorgeous environments. You can spend hours in just the map first map getting to know the place, and End of Dragon’s new fishing and skiff mastery lines add a huge amount of depth and maneuverability to a game that has long embraced “the joy of movement” as a design philosophy. The new mount, the Siege Turtle, is a blast to ride on with a friend and fills a unique niche, while your new Jade Bot companion adds an element of utility that players might not even know they needed. Overall, End of Dragons is a triumph for the team at ArenaNet, and MMORPG fans would be remiss not to give it a try. Expand

But I must say the attention to detail is impressive and so far I am truly enjoying the game. There are some things that need to be adjusted such as the ending meta event. But they are working on that. I have had ZERO disconnects and almost no lag they entire time. Which is rare on a release day of any game, even on highly populated maps. The maps are beautiful and smooth, the story is compelling and touches your heart. The new elite specs are interesting and bring a few new goodies to the game. I will refrain from details because I do not want to give any spoilers. Also Guild wars 2 has one of the best mount systems out there and skiffs just add a new element to the game along with fishing. Which has been challenging, but in the best of ways. I loved it and I highly recommend checking this game out for yourself. If I could give it a higher score I would. You can tell the devs listened to the players and took what they said to heart. They care about the lore and history, but also want to show progress for the future. 10 out of 10 for me. Expand

Is it perfect? No. Am I enjoying it? Hell yes.

As someone with over 8000 hours in Guild Wars 2 (and few hundreds in Guild Wars), I think this was probably the best expansion the game has received, from hand-crafted maps and immersive world, new mechanics, new challenging and engaging strikes to a great story that builds upon basically everything we have experienced and learned so far.

It is a bit stained by bugs like meta events getting stalled, specializations that are not as good as the previous ones, and crashes/connection instabilities.

The story (no spoilers) is the best Gw2 has ever offered with the highest production quality yet seen for the game. It flows excellently and introduces new characters that fit perfectly with our existing cast and make their mark on this franchise. This closes a book and leaves us ready for the next one to open.

The Strike missions are also a cut above the rest, while not as difficult due to only being the normal mode version (Hard modes are coming later) these fights have raid complexity written all over them and clearly take some inspiration form FFXIVs trials in the best possible ways, 4 fantastic encounters

The events and meta(s) are also top tier, they are replayable, they are fun, they are engaging, and again, just some of the best work we have seen in gw2.

The zones are visually striking and give us a much needed break from the more traditional settings we have seen for so long now, the continent of Cantha is rich and detailed and these new areas are brimming with content and life, people have all praised Kaineng city but my highlight is Shing Jea Island for sure.

I am just so happy this expansion turned out well, and there is still so much more for us to look forward to, in the coming weeks players will be getting their siege turtles, new legendary weapons, and CONQUERING the new Strikes on challenge mode, and I can't wait.

Well done Anet, and most of this was done from home, phew. Be proud, this shows that Gw2 is absolutely an mmo worth paying attention to.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent (except the gay marriage at the end). The new specializations are great and the story and art fantastic. It's quite short but I expect one more complete season. Fishing is also great and, at the moment, you can make a great profit, ~30 gold/hour of relaxation, this makes the expansion less grindy.

It also feels like it has less content than the other expansions, after finishing the story and tried the final meta a few times I try to find new things to do. I remember that on PoF and HoT I have grinded the maps for hours, but maybe because now I have a lot of legendaries and I don't have to grind for the stats. This felt a lot easier and faster to advance and also more relaxing.

The negative parts: Still no update on WvW, no new fractals, the new masteries that you unlock are not essential, they feel like novelties. Using waypoint from LA to the new zone cost 9 silver :D.

Overall I have enjoyed this but I need new content soon, especially content related to WvW, PvP. Maybe 1v1, 2v2 modes.

First would be those that loved the old grungy Cantha in GW1. Second, those that come back and forth to GW2 when there is an expansion or it strikes their fancy. For those that have played almost all content and been with it for over nine years...it is the magnum opus. It is how Mass Effect should have turned out naturally instead of how the company was forced to half fix due to fan fury. The voice acting, the lines, the hilarity is there and so good it even hits on a second playthrough. The expansion is plenty of content...PLENTY. Took me days/about two weeks even with finally getting started right away with everyone else and playing several hours a day. The masteries are fun and give end game and are not even really necessary. The plot is epic. EPIC. Wraps everything up and gives even EPILOGUE which is often so lacking in games--it isn't the end of GW2 so don't panic or think like a lot of us did that this is the end and how lovely on to GW3....nope. But we do have no idea where we are going next which is amazing :). The final meta event is one of the greatest if not greatest gaming moments of all time. This game/expansion is a true ten.
