    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played this game before and I played this game again. Grand Theft Auto III is one of the 3rd Grand Theft Auto Games that completely played twice.

    The graphics in the game are good because it was an old game. Usually in old games felt it was made with paper magazines.

    When using the joystick it felt very wonky. That is why I have to rely on using the mouse and keyboard all the time. It's not how I usually remembered when I played Grand Theft Auto on my PC

    The weapons are just completely difficult to handle, One of the biggest that are hard to use are the sniper riffles and assault riffles. Making it very hard to use.

    The vehicles that I drove felt like everything was made with paper mache.

    The game has some glitches like the mountains in Shoreside Vale and bug which is the hard-to-use plane Dodo which is absolutely ironic that it means flightless bird.

    And one thing that I hated is how the Leone Family are just too dangerous. Meaning every time I go to Portland I get killed by the Leone Family and not just that but every other of those islands that kept on attacking me every time I completed a mission that started a feud.

    Safe houses were somewhat useful for saving but did not have more interaction. Meaning that I fully go check what is in the interior,

    One that is great about is the story. I played and it was pretty good that this focuses on after the events of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas when Catalina betrayed Claude all because of her greed. However almost didn't bring enough proper explanation of the story. One example is that what happened to Maria after the incident of the gun sound in the end.

    Either way. Grand Theft Auto III is a great game. I like to take the challenge but I didn't mean to challenge my bugs or glitches.    … Expand

    GTA 3 was the first GTA I ever played. While it lacks the story and graphics of the newer entries, it's no different than the rest of the series in terms of the fun you get from playing GTA.

    First GTA I've ever played an I was stunned from the first minute. Graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, story, atmosphere - everything is nearly perfect. A golden hour for gaming. Overall rating: 9.1.

С уверенностью говорю, что я не потратил ни единого часа игры зря! Игра почти полностью забита контентом, а это говорит о том, что игрок не будет скучать изучая мир игры, правда временами, мне казалось, что один из островов довольно скуп наЕдинственная часть франшизы в которую я не играл. Купил попробовал, забросил, но вот спустя некоторое время я решил пройти игру полностью. С уверенностью говорю, что я не потратил ни единого часа игры зря! Игра почти полностью забита контентом, а это говорит о том, что игрок не будет скучать изучая мир игры, правда временами, мне казалось, что один из островов довольно скуп на предоставление какого то контента. Сюжет, он не плохой, такая среднечковая гангстерская история, но, большое но, есть очень интересные миссии у некоторых персонажей, от которых влияет сюжет, и нет.     The first 3D GTA, which basically started it all... Jawdropping at its time, but aged pretty badly unfortunately... Still, for me the second best in the old-school 3D GTA series, right after Vice City

    Shooting in a silent city while it's raining during a mission full of jokes and dark undertones... Even after all this years, it's still an amazing game.

    Обожаю grand theft auto 3, первая 3d grand theft auto, первая хорошая графика и озвучка хорошая, конечно игра сложная, но раньше на это люди вообще не обращали, но из-за сложности очень интересно играть, потому-что ты что то обдумываешь.
    Вывод: это первая качественная игра от rockstar, и хорошо что rockstar додумались сделать 3d grand theft auto, заслуженно 8/10!    Обожаю grand theft auto 3, первая 3d grand theft auto, первая хорошая графика и озвучка хорошая, конечно игра сложная, но раньше на это люди вообще не обращали, но из-за сложности очень интересно играть, потому-что ты что то обдумываешь.
    Вывод: это первая качественная игра от rockstar, и хорошо что rockstar додумались сделать 3d grand theft auto, заслуженно 8/10!

    One of the first GTA titles I've played and also the first 3D game in GTA series. This is a classic, without a doubt. Moreover, as for me, GTA 3 has in itself something unique which is separates that title from other gta titles.

    Great game. Cool looking map. The missions are fun. I wish your character got to speak thou. I don't understand why Rockstar didn't have him talk? And another thing I didn't like with GTA 3 is the there not being a map in the pause menu. How ever this was early days so it's understandable. The map is small thou so it's easy to learn. I had fun playing this game and it's way better then theGreat game. Cool looking map. The missions are fun. I wish your character got to speak thou.     The game is great. But unlike GTA: VC and GTA: SA it has aged a little badly.
    Some missions are unbearable and unnecessarily difficult due to the controls.
    Obviously it remains an incredible game for the time but evaluated from today's perspective it does not deserve full marks

    The very first time GTA went 3rd person and it was AWESOME.
    The game is a legend. For the first time you can do everything a GTA had to offer while living it inside the game and not above it.

    Although roaming sandbox games existed before this title, this one certaily was the very best 3rd person full 3D graphics sandbox game at the time.
    I was glad to had the chance to play this from start to end and if you ever get the chance to start a GTA marathon, you won't be any disappointed!

    For 2001, the game is an incredible game! I liked the plot. But a very big disadvantage, when I die during the mission, I need to go again to the person who will give me the mission. I want to continue playing the GTA series. So I'm going to play Gta: Vice City.

    I played it in 2021 this was a huge hit I guess in 2002, because the game is still enjoyable today, pretty good storyline, funny characters, a piece of gaming history.

    It is a well-made story and overall a good game. The game makes a good job of telling a simple but good story. Unlike other GTA games, this one is more simple. The missions are a bit difficult, but once you learn to master the game and mechanics you will get over them. The experience with this game is unique I would say, so I would recommend it if you want to try something new

    GTAIII's impact can't be ignored, it was one of the most revolutionary titles of the early 00's and cemented itself as one of the most important video games in both rockstar north's history and gaming history in general. But GTA 3 was too revolutionary to stand against the test of time and some gameplay elements are seriously lackluster nowadays but that doesn't reduce from the totalGTAIII's impact can't be ignored, it was one of the most revolutionary titles of the early 00's and cemented itself as one of the most important video games in both rockstar north's history and gaming history in general. GTA 3 is my third favorite gta just behind gta 4 and gta 5. I never understood why so many liked vice city more than 3. I'll start with what I liked about this game: ch. the hero Claude (I must admit that I liked him more than CJ from SA or the same Tommy from VC, although he did not utter a word for the whole game, but there is something in him, probably his charisma), the atmosphere of Liberty -City of the beginning of zero, 3 cities and shootouts (in any GTA you will not see severed limbs lying on the ground), perhaps that's all.
    Now what I didn't like: the plot (many missions made purely for the sake of the game not being prolonged), add. missions (especially missions on Marty Chonks, 4 missions are absolutely the same ...), the behavior of bots (traffic that constantly crashes and makes nonsense on the roads, pedestrians always throw themselves under the wheels attracting you to the cops, and the cops are hardcore in three rubles ...), Well, actually the most important thing: if you suddenly want to complete the game, then you just need to stuff the game with various fixes, because the game will be 30 fps and a bunch of missions thwarted due to the fact that the cut-scene simply cannot load or the game is deadlocked. For example: once I shot down a helicopter, when it crashed into the water, the game froze tightly so that even the task manager did not help, then I just turned on the frame limiter and everything became normal, the conclusion: the game is really outdated by its optimization (and I did not only about GTA III, this also applies to VC and SA).
    Bottom line: I do not want to say that I do not recommend going through GTA III, but if you want to play comfortably, then you should bother with plugins and various fixes. If you are a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series of games, then you simply have to go through this part like all the other old parts of this game franchise and not immediately take up GTA V as many of my friends do.

    What an absolute classic. When it came out, it was legendary. Modern open world city that had 3 different city areas, you can drive any car, with solid story. This game was revolutionary!

    I was a big fan of GTA 2 back then, and it was a big surprise when GTA3 was released. I had immediately bought the disc and played the game. It reminded me of GTA2: the mute main character, style, driving, radios. At the same time everything was on the new scale: 3D, music, hits, the solid story line. I was disappointed that no story was continued from the second game, I couldn't seeI was a big fan of GTA 2 back then, and it was a big surprise when GTA3 was released. I had immediately bought the disc and played the game. It reminded me of GTA2: the mute main character, style, driving, radios. At the same time everything was on the new scale: 3D, music, hits, the solid story line. I was disappointed that no story was continued from the second game, I couldn't see Zaibatsu again (except a commercial). However, overall impression was positive.

    After many, MANY years, more then 19, I played again with the graphics upgrade pack.

    Well. Let's compare the reviews.

    Me, teenager.

    Pros.:
    - Awesome music. Especially RISE FM.
    - Sniper rifle. LOVE IT!
    - Driving, can steal any car, drive sport cards, some of them remind of GTA2 (Yakuza stinger).
    - The story is so cool!
    - Very sad to finish the game. I tried to finish all the missions but... Whatever. I finished.
    - I just like to drive around the city!

    Cons.:
    - Some missions are hard, had to replay over and over again. That goddamn truck and Colombian mafia trying to destroy it.
    - Goddamn airplane mission when you need to find the boat. I almost destroyed my keyboard.
    - That's it I think.

    Me. 2020.

    Pros.:
    - Music, Rise FM.
    - Versatility of finishing some missions.
    - Different ways of reaching parts of the city (tunnel or bridges).
    - More weapons, more missions, more characters. Characters are memorable. Even though some of them are not really recognizable from the concept arts.
    - The opening and ending theme. Attaching and fulfilling.
    - The attempt to add some cinematography into the game. It's not a complete attraction like GTA2, full of **** and giggles. It's more serious. Even though some missions are fun, posters (Bad Fellas, for example). All these references to pop culture and movies (the Godfather, Reservoir Dogs, etc.).
    - The system of hidden packages. The more you get, the better default equipment you have near the hideout. PRICELESS! You should plan the game play. AGAIN.

    Cons.:
    - Overbuffed Italian mafia with their shotguns. But it may be a cons, because you have to PLAN how to play. For example, finish side missions first.
    - I miss that system of gang reputation from the second game. If you kill other gang members, you may restore the reputation.
    - I REALLY MISS ZAIBATSU NOW.
    - The music tracks is very VERY limited. I ended up listening to nothing, because I have heard it all.
    - The graphics look awful. The game is dull. Physics are OK, but the details. The game required more details I suppose.
    - The story is quite short. And characters are not that attaching. It was fixed in Vice City I guess.
    - No bikes.
    - No **** swimming. It's ridiculous.
    - There should be payment for the hideout. Like in GTA2. Of course, the **** the cheaper.

    Anyways, the game is a LEGEND! Worth showing to the kids.    … Expand

    This game is my childhood. Cant give a low score because is didn't age very well. Storytelling is still good tho. Openworld is OK. This game will always have a very soft place in my heart...

    the pc version is much better than the ps2, unfortunately the steam version is a bit buggy, with car colors being dark and the npcs AI getting more stupid, but nothing that a downgrade version doesn't solve the problem, I recommend the mod that simulates the version of the first xbox and a texture pack that corrects the textures of the cars.

    The legendary game, which is the main starter game of the GTA legend. Even though its story is not at the forefront, it is a peak production for 2001 with completely different missions.     The historical leap of GTA franchise to 3D. It was probably the most anticipated game in my life. And it was a damn good game too. It was not perfect, the graphics kinda sucked even back in the day, but gameplay-wise with its open world and realistic detailed city where you can do anything you want it was unlike anything we have ever seen before.

    Mind blowing for it's time. Defined a genre. Depicts dark, gritty and gloomy atmosphere of New York. Who else could put you with Mafia, Yakuza, Triads, Cartel and more.

    Masterpiece. Beginning of legendary series.

    It's my second best game I've ever played. It's not a perfect game, especially for PC version. Still, city design is the best of every games including other GTA series, and gameplay is not obsolete even in 2020.

    GTA 3 is a fun sandbox game.
    It's an very important game for video game history.
    Even tho GTA 3 is a good game there are many problems. I would say that the biggest problems are the driving physics, the time limits on some of the missions are too short and of course the fact that your vehicle explode when it lands upside down. Good things. As I said this is a fun sandbox. There    GTA 3 is a fun sandbox game.

    The atmosphere of this game is grey and sad compared to the sunny Miami I'm used to. The plot of the game is great. There's no denying that some of the tasks were boring and ridiculous. The world of the game is divided into three parts,    I started the GTA marathon with this game. And the third island was left unused at all, there was not a single person giving the task. The silence of the protagonist also affected the evaluation. He doesn't radiate any charisma, just a murderer.

    What a HUGE step from GTA II. I remember I played GTA I at an internet café. I fell in love, so I had no choice but to buy the game and it seems that GTA II was pretty new at that time, so I bought that. From 2D bird's-eye-view to 3D third-person-view. Awesome missions and huge islands, it takes weeks to complete and thanks for that. I like the sportscars, of course.

    The physic of the cars is unrealistic,the police is too fast and the traffic system is unrealistic, they change the line stupidly.
    There is no free saving, so you lose a lot of time to do the same things again, if you load last savepoints.
    Rockstar was too lazy to release patches to fix some bugs and improve the performance. It reminds me to Bethesda and their Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.    … Expand

    The first time I played in the computer room ... somewhere in 2004 I was so amazed, that I began to stand for hours just to get it done. But, my young age and my experience in gaming, barely able to cope. In a few days only managed to finish 2-3 missions. It is the first GTA in 3D. It is simply amazing.

    There is one problem with this game... the fighting. You'd think the fighting would be ok in a game about being a criminal, which involves fighting but no. Half the punches miss. However, the rest of the game is great.

    Optimization on PC is bad because on a 64mb card even on 640x480 it was a bit laggy

    All the goodies of the new GTA games (3D graphics, unfailable missions, witty-but-not-edgy humour, perfect gameplay) without all the downsides. GTA III still is the perfect GTA game to me (waiting for V).
