    This is the best game ever. Although graphics are not up to date it has a very nice story and a fascinating combat system (not this easy click, slay and win). If you have some nights left, get it and play!

    This Game is the best. Well worth buying. Gothic II is the most addictive Game i have played. This game gives you a lot of freedom so you always have somthing to do in the Game.

    The grapics are a bit outdated after 4 years but, while waiting for Gothic 3, I took up the challenge again. The gameplay is superior to all other RPG's. You take up challenges as difficult as you can handle. If something is too difficult for you, you can choose to do a few easier tasks to accomplish your goal. It is very addictive and most of the time impressive.

    Since Gothic 2 was not released at the time I wrote this, consider it a pre-rating. Because I know the game engine is basically the same but with more detailed textures and higher res. I know Gothic 2 will rock! The first one is the single best rpg I have ever played. No other real time game has ever come so close to making a world feel so real.     This game is simply stunning. It's just... It's my favorite game of all time. It has everything. It's story is very involving, and unlike a lot of other RPGs, you really feel that you are living within the world of Gothic 2, making decisions with consequences. Just this will keep you going for hours and hours once you settle after the rather hard and unforgiving opening This game is simply stunning. It's just... It's my favorite game of all time.     It is a wonderful game, really amazing story.. Gothic I - was the first game I installed on pc, since I got it. And after finishing first version, second came, and it's was really cool to install the continuing.. Even better story, esp the night raven add-on. Still it has disadvantages like not perfect quility or some bugs, but I dont care cuz the storymode is awesome, and It is a wonderful game, really amazing story..     A great RPG. Good grapics, cool NPC to talk to. A very good skill and Magic system and a good story. It has everything most of the newer RPGs did not. If you like a GOOD RPG..try this and toss the rest.

    One of the best RPGs ever created. The best thing is: The game is very well balanced. At a point walking around over and over to the same places get annoying you get Runes who can be used to teleport around the Isle of Khorinis. If you are a Germany, you will love the speech..funny indeed.;). Don't believe the mag-bashing above, they wouldn't recognize a good RPG even when the One of the best RPGs ever created.     While I really don't like rpgs (especially morrowind), I found this one to be quite fun. Most rpgs have a very boring combat system and one has to read pages of text to get an idea of what the story is about. Not gothic. The characters actually speak their lines and, generally, only repeat the important stuff. It's like Morrowind...except with a balanced skill tree and a combat engine that's actually FUN, if a bit odd at first. Outside of the Black Isle games, Gothic is as good as it gets. My suspicion is that a lot of the folks who reviewed it poorly either weren't One of the deepest and most immersive role playing games I've ever played...and I've played them all.     One of the best RPGs of the last 10 years. Great story, 3 very different classes you can experience. Very much to do.Great graphics, cool speech and nice AI. Good game that kept me 5 weeks on the PC!!! Buy and enjoy!

    An absolutely mind-blowingly great game, at least it was for me. At the time I stumbled across this, while bored and looking for a random game to kill time with, I had never experienced such a detailed and cohesive world. This game still highly impresses me, as does its expansion, The Night of the Raven.

    I haven't play better rpg game than gothic..belive me i have played many rpgs but only gothic was so good that i passed the game more than 50 times i got all gothic games and i love them and i play them all the day......................

    Simply the greatest RPG ever made. It's rare to find a game with as much soul and personality as this. The characters, setting, story of gothic 1+2, are memorable even 5 years after playing the game. If you stick past the initial difficulty and learning curve you'll be infinitely rewarded

    This is really an amazing continuation of the first Gothic game. It has pretty much everything what Gothic 1 had plus many improvements. The graphics look better now. Fighting is similar yet got some technical improvements which make it even more enjoyable now. The world is bigger, and the areas we get to explore are really interesting to see. The world is bigger, and the areas we get to explore are really interesting to see. We even get back to the colony from the first Gothic, although much has changed there. What I complained about in my review for Gothic 1, is also fixed here. I mean, side quests. With each chapter we will encounter new side quests. Overall there are many in game. Also, the game is more difficult than Gothic 1, especially if we also have Gothic 2: Night of the Raven expansion. This expansion is really worth the money, because it not only adds whole new world to explore, but also makes the game more difficult. Also, changes and adds stuff to the original world from Gothic 2, too. Gothic 2 + Gothic 2: NOTR expansion make the most awesome RPG ever made in my opinion. The storyline is still linear yet we still make some choices here and there. Yet again we get to pick which faction we join, and this affects the game more than it did in the first Gothic game. Even the NPCs will treat us differently. We get to choose between the monastery of fire magicians, mercenaries, and town militia. Further in the game we advance to higher rank, depending which faction we chose. Story line is still amazing and I don't have much more to say to it. Music is better than in the previous game. Not a single bad word I can say to it. If I was reviewing Gothic 2 alone, I would give it 9, but together with G2: NOTR they make purely epic game which is almost flawless. Sometimes we can encounter some bugs but really rarely. We were able to forge weapons in Gothic 1 but in Gothic 2 now we can learn to forge various types of swords. We are able to learn alchemy and brew potions, too. We even need to create runes as a mage in order to be able to use new spells. Let me do a summary.

    Pros:
    -Everything that was in first Gothic 1, plus many fixes and improvements to the game.

    Cons:

    My personal, all-time favorite RPG. The nostalgia goggles will never come off on this one, and I would pay anything to experience this game again like it was the first time. I could go on for hours about this game... the music (oh god the music!), gameplay, characters, story... it all fits together so perfectly. Buy this game and name your children after NPCs.

    the gothic series is one of my favorite franchises and this one is easily the best of the bunch

    This is my first RPG played and still the most rewarding gaming experience that i did.Deep and awesome storyline,awesome graphic( for 2003) and a big world to explore.Surely the best Gothic!!!

But there seem to be many people who dislike the game but didnt't tell us why. And believe me: these negative ratings were not there half a year ago. My personal conclusion is: THE RATING IS MANIPULATED by haters/Strange thing is: This game had a user rating of about 8.8- 9.2 some months ago!     One of my favorite games of all time. The wonderfully crafted world had a living feel to it which was years ahead of it's time. With everyone fallowing a daily routine which included even recreational activities. The island world really felt like it could have existed in some world at some time, not artificially constructed like many game environments do.

    The story may seem simple but this is just the outline about how an island wrapped up in a desperate war, while dealing poverty and danger all around them. Learning about the people's lives and what is going on is the best part of the game. It wraps up nicely into fitting with story and not divorced from it.     Game play:
    Game play is an open world third person RPG with real time combat. NPC will have schedules in what they do or when they sleep. Monsters will have behavior patterns where they wander around, will investigate and eat corpses, and take a fighting stances to ward you off rather then be a constant predator. Quests are long and detailed with many different ways to complete them. You will have huge environments to explore and scavenge in order to survive the 6 chapters you play and will be traveling back and forth between locations and this can sometimes be boring after awhile. Later on,You will get access to teleporters that will take you to certain locations. It may seem annoying not to teleport to wherever you want but it keeps it so exploration is risky and dangerous. The environments will change in each chapter and people will have new quests. You can expect to die a lot as you learn from your mistakes but they are not unfair as you will learn to foresee them. The game play is awkward at first but it works well as you get use to it. Combat focuses on Kitting, which means isolating your enemy and/or keeping your distance while hitting them away from their reach with magic and arrows. Fighting monsters in the game means you have to learn their attack patterns and back off to avoid their attacks as you can't block their attacks. Magic and arrows will always kill humans while swords will incapacitate them temporarily if they are NPC's. You can block human's attacks but they are much stronger then monsters and more likely to kill you if you get hit due to their high weapon abilities. It is possible to fight enemies even at level 1 but it takes a lot of work. If you can kill an enemy at the distance the better you will be especially if it with groups or monsters that attack in groups. At first you will not be able to handle groups of monsters and barely handle a goblin but after while you will especially when you will be facing groups of enemies in chapter 2. Humans and any opponent that uses weapons should always best fought one on one to avoid dying. The game will continuously get harder as you go along so the game will always be a challenge.

    To level up in this game you must fight monsters, knock out or kill humans, complete quests, perform stunt bonuses, pickpocket people. The amount of experience you need will increase to large amounts making it important to think about where you will place your learning points. When you level up you get 10 learning points to spend on trainers to level up your skills and stats. These trainers can be any NPC that has a name so you should talk to everyone.The game has it's fair amount of bugs an glitches though they are small Sound:
    The sound in this game is quiet good. From the sound of foots steps to the natural ambiance of the world. It all pulls you into the atmosphere of the game. Even the music is good. There are not a lot of songs in the game so it can be tiring to listen to after while but they fit the mood of the game well. They are memorable. The acting in the game is pretty good with everyone sounding like a real person and not overacting. Unfortunately, for the size of the game, you will hear many of the same actors over and over again with some minor variations in tone. Never the less, the same voices being heard repeatedly won't hurt the enjoyment of the game. Graphics:
    The graphics in the game are quiet good. All textures are very detailed with real color tones unlike most modern game. Even the fog and the sun shine adds to the atmosphere of making the game to look almost like a painting. The graphics despite coming out in 2002 still stand the test of time in being pleasant on the eyes and looking good at high resolutions. The game can be played in 4:3 and 16: 10 resolutions. You can go into the ini file to edit in 16:9 resolution but it glitches were every time you die, it turns into stretch mode which can be cured by talking to someone or maybe by interacting with an object.

    Conclusion: Overall I would recommend this game to anyone that likes RPG's and wants to experience something different. You can buy this game DRM free at GOG for $10 or get the entire Gothic trilogy for $25 on GamerGate    … Expand

Killing epic monsters ,while listening to epic soundtrack. A very nice armor designs. Many different characters to meet most of them give a lasting impression.Lots of weapons.Also book looking books that can be read. Also have crafting.Logical lootOne of the best rpgs ever , an awesome sequel to first part. It has full and living world for exploration a decent amount of different areas. There has never been an atmosphere in any other game like in Gothic 2, it's not as colorful as most modern RPGs but has more natural darker colors which underline the more "realistic" setting.     This is one of the best (if not the best) single-character fantasy-RPG. It may be a little difficult to get started, but it's very immersive and rewarding. The NPCs and the game-world is very good designed.
    What I don't understand is, how these negative critics without a text are even possible. I first tried to do it without a text, but it wasn't possible (Error: Review requires text). Choices that actually matters, different quests (not just "go kill something, loot it and bring it to me" but quests that have multiple ways of ending and quests that require interacting with other NPCs and that will affect your relations with other NPCs) hours of playing (my first gameplay took me 150 h, thought I've done it all *silly me*, but even after 5th gameplay I find out some new things *What more can you want?*) I can go for hours lol and if original story and multiple endings weren't enough from you, there a lot of mods for it (apart from official add-on Night of the Raven which i highly recommend to everyone!)
    I just don't understand from where all these negative reviews come from... those guys either wasn't ready for all that Gothic has to give or they thought... I don't know i can't find one thing to verify their acts.
    All they say is "oh they let me in the big city saying do x, y and z and now i'm supposed to talk with everyone just to find out what to do" no! we'll serve you everything on a plate! That's what makes this game funny- learning about what's going on in the world you're in!!!
    "oh, games too hard" that's because it hardcore not something you play now-a-days! And it's because of story from G1 who played- knows!! One more thing if it's too hard for you just try Heights of Power mod...
    "oh controls are to hard" oh really?! that the point you're thrown into the game you need to SURVIVE in it! Back in G1 it took me half an hour to find out how to pick stuff from a chest! That was fun! That and not when you get a full manual about game!
    "oh combat is too hard" maybe because it not "hack'n'slash" or "smash that button" but it's tactical and pretty engaging...
    "quests fell just like running around..." or maybe you like just to kill and not do something for you fellows convicts!
    this wasn't so much of a review it was more of a defending my favorite game from corruptive people and companies!
    Hope that this will have influence on someone who will buy this game and enjoy it forever!

    Despite a few bugs and glitches, this game is the most addictive and my favorite RPG game. The story is awesome and offers you a lot of freedom and the effects are good even 10 years after the game has been released. It also feels epic while battling dragons and orcs. In my opinion, the best RPG game ever made.

You will feel as a part of that world and that is what I miss in today's games.     Completed 12 times, last time was 8 months ago. After you get used to old controls and graphic game is epic again. Night of the raven is pretty big expansion to this game and makes it more difficult, highly recommended to play with it. Gothic 1 and 2 will always be the best games of my life :)

His mentor Xardas rescued him in a weakened state after some time has passed as a new and even greater menace appears on the Island of Khorinis. On the main land the war against the orcs does not go well and the king has send his paladins to get as much magic ore as possible from Khorinis because magic weapons are their best chance. There are uprisings on Khorinis as the kings increasing taxes ruin the people. Again the game has great characters, humor, an enjoyable story and an even bigger world to explore. The story is excellent and has good twist and some surprises. For players of Gothic it is even better as you will encounter old friends and be indulged in nostalgia. This is the prime example of creating good NPC characters. You care about them. The world-building and lore gets improved as you learn more about the gods, faith, politics and society. Again there are fractions in the game you can work for and must chose one later on. There are also rumors of a thieves guild and maybe you will revisit a familiar place;-). The world is huge for its time and there is a lot to explore. Be warned as you can explore much of it early one and you are not suited or underprepared to deal with all enemies yet. Again bows are the best choice for combat and I would stick with it. A new addition is a crafting system. You can become an apprentice in a few professions (can learn a bit in all but must chose one). You can craft weapons, gut animals or brew potions. The leveling system is untouched. You gain experience points and after leveling up you get skill points that can be used to increase stats or learn new abilities from trainers. Tip: After you reach certain numbers for your stats it gets more expensive to raise them further. Raising comes in 1 and 5 point steps. Raise it 1 point below the point it gets more expensive and raise it thereafter by 5 points. Saved a few points this way. As before bows are my favorite choice and many will agree. While it is an excellent game there are 2 complaints. Firstly the bugs which I avoided by waiting for patches (Took longer than it sounded and you can read the documentation what the patches fixed) and secondly it is a bit to easy. I hardly died in the game. However this does not taint the experience. Overall this was a classic for its time and still holds up. The atmosphere, characters and story won many people over. Bonus: The add on “Night of the Raven” improved the game tremendous (Again after some patches) and is considered by many including me as ultimate Gothic experience (Gothic 3 is inferior due to development struggles and Gothic 4 is more of using the name to get a bigger audience).… Expand

But there seem to be many people who dislike the game but didnt't tell us why. And believe me: these negative ratings were not there half a year ago.     This is a terrific continuation of the first part.

    Gothic & Gothic 2 are recommended for each of the approach may role-playing games.

One of the best combat systems i've ever seen, to really enjoy the game you need to go out into the forest and kill everything you can. Very open ended has loads of quests so you dont get bored.     first major game ive ever played and i think, to this day, thats its grand! multi path story, multiple sidequests etc. An epic story, with intricate connections and theology ( ~ as in the magical and devine connections between protagonists and antagonists and one another etc...) that evolves and and imerses one in the world.

Man muss es einfach gespielt haben, um sich einen Eindruck davon machen zu können. Das Einzige, was dem im Wege steht, ist dasEs ist einfach Gothic. Jeder sollte dieses Spiel gespielt haben. Die Atmosphäre ist einfach nur genial. Ich könnte Stunden lang darüber nachdenken, wie ich all die positiven Dinge irgendwie aufzählen kann und würde immer noch keine Ahnung haben. Man muss es einfach gespielt haben, um sich einen Eindruck davon machen zu können. Das Einzige, was dem im Wege steht, ist das verbesserungswürdige Kampfsystem.     Dle mého je tato hra nejlepší z celé série. Je zde vidět, jak hodně vývojáři postoupili od prvního dílu. Je zde mnohonásobně větší a hezčí svět, mnohem delší a zajímavější příběhová linie a vše perfektně navazuje na první díl. Bojový systém je příjemně vylepšený, doknce lze říct že je úplně nový.

    Od této hry můžete očekávat spoustu zajímavých úkolů, které nejsou v podstatě nijak oděleny od hlavní příběhové linie. Většina úkolů je takového typu, že dorazíte do nějaké lokace a chcete se dostat dále, takže se musíte nějak osvědčit, aby vás vpustili dále a samozřejmě chcete peníze lepší vybavení a zkušenosti. Toto se může zdát repetetivní, ale zajímavá zápletka a nějaké speciální vedlejší úkoly vás poženou stále dál a dál.

    Co se týče vylepšování vaší postavičky tak vše funguje tak jak má a celé to funguje na klasickém systému zdraví, mana, síla a obratnost. Samozřejmě zde nechybí speciální dovednosti, jako třeba akrobacie, plížení atd.

    Tato hra toho nabízí celkem hodně zajímavého obsahu, přičemž pokud budete chtít udělat všechny úkoly tak vám to zabere zhruba 80 hodin.    … Expand

Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi. Ci metterete un po' a familiarizzare con i sistemi di gioco e di combattimento, ma una volta presa la mano non vi sarà poi complicato sapervi gestire.Uno dei migliori GDR a cui io abbia mai giocato. Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi.     100/100 najlepsza część gothicka nie dyskryminując 1 są na równym poziomie, lecz 2 troszkę bardziej mi się podobała. Najlepsza z gier jaka kiedykolwiek powstała jednym minusem jest fakt, że nie jest po Polsku (na steamie ). Patrząc na tę grę widzicie słabą grafikę ,ale grafika się w tej grze nie liczy. Wybierając wersję pudełkową lub na steama doradzam pudełkową jeśli nie znacie dokładnie100/100 najlepsza część gothicka nie dyskryminując 1 są na równym poziomie, lecz 2 troszkę bardziej mi się podobała.     Eigentlich gefällt mir zu viel an diesem Spiel, also es ist fast perfekt.
    Der Soundtrack und die Vertonung dieses Spiels sind selbst heute noch der Hammer. Vorallem ist es echt lustig, wenn man die Synchronsprecher, die in Gothic 2 vorkommen wieder in andere neuerscheinte Games findet. (z.B in Risen 3 kommen wieder alte bekannte Synchronsprecher vor.)
    Ich könnte noch eine grosse Liste über das Spiel selber schreiben, aber es gibt ja noch Modifikationen, über denen ich dringend noch was sagen muss. Es gibt sicher verschiedene Leute, die Gründe haben das Spiel nicht zu spielen, dafür habe ich natürlich eine Lösung parat.

    Wem das Spiel halt so nicht gefällt, der kann noch das neuerscheinte ''Odysee'' Herunterladen. ''Odysee'' ist eine Total Conversation Mod, die mehr als 200 Spielstunden bietet. Ihr könnt im WoG forum mehr darüber lesen falls ihr insteressiert seid.
    Wem das Spiel wegen der Grafik nicht gefällt, der kann warten oder Eventuell bei einer Modder Gruppe mithelfen, die das Spiel in einem Direct X11 Spiel umwandeln.
    Wem das Spiel sehr gefällt und/oder wer es schon durch hat und trozdem noch mehr will, der sollte sich unbedingt die Modifikation ''Die Rückkehr'' installieren. Eine riesen grosse Mod, die ich hier nur schwer zusammenfassen kann. Wer jedoch nicht so eine grosse Modifikation wie die Rückkehr möchte, der sollte sich ''VarusBiker'' herunterladen.
    Wer das Spiel zwar durch hat, aber irgendwie eine andere Story und eine kleine total Conversation spielen möchte, der hat natürlich ein riesen auswahl.
    Natürlich hat Gothic 1, 2 und 3 eine sehr aktive Community auf der Seite WoG. Dort erscheinen regelmässig Mods und pro Tag kommen ca. 200 neue Beiträge oder sogar mehr.
    Viel spass mit dem Spiel, wer es noch spielt oder wer es noch spielen wird.    … Expand

Ovšem jeho výhodou bylo: větší budget, propracování, světem a atmosférou vůbecDne 29. listopadu 2002 vyšla hra, která nejen ovlivnila mé dětství, ale zároveň zabrala v mém životě nesčetné množství hodin. Pocit, když každý rok probíhám od Xardasovi věže na Lobartovu farmu, je jako žádný jiný. Je naprosto úžasný. Když člověk vidí tu naoko neuvěřitelně příjemnou texturu, když má možnost opět majznout banditu, který držkuje po cestě, když oběhne krvavé mouchy, ukradne almužny určené pro boha Innose a naláká hladového vlka k Melethovým ovcím. Do toho všeho zpěv ptáků, chrastění při každém kroku a hudba, která hladí na duši. Tento relaxující pocit prožívám vždy při opětovném stisknutí tlačítka „Nová hra“ v hlavním menu.

    Bohužel. V dnešních meřítcích je tato hra mnohými již zapomenuta. Komunita se každým dnem zmenšuje a žádný podmět typu „Gothic 5“ není. Při dnešních měřítcích jsme hold už staří – jak hráči této hry, tak hra samotná. Třeba jednoho dne se dočkáme toliko vytouženého pokračování. Tato série je jedním z nejlepších RPG, bohužel již ne dnešní doby. Není tolik nesmrtelná, jako Diablo, či The Elder Scrools. Je to tím, že není ani v dost opečovávaná.

    Nyní mou osobu prosím omluvte. Jdu vysvětlit Sentenzovi neexistující rozdíl mezi jeho prdelí a obličejem, přičemž mu rozhodně nedám jeho 50 zlatých.

Принятые решения не раз аукнуться вам в будущем, а их результаты вы очень наглядно увидите в отношении мира и персонажей к вам.
    Сейчас выходит не так много игр, повторное прохождение которых имеет смысл. Готику 2 имеет смысл пройти минимум трижды, лично я даже после 5-6 прохождения находил в ней что-то новое для себя. Даже 10 лет спустя эта игра даст про♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ся большинству современных РПГ.    … Expand

Since the game doesn't throw powerful items or experience at you like lots of the loot-fest RPGs out there, the (usually) small rewards secreted away across the island are always satisfying to discover. This and the fact that the game is largely loading screen- and objective marker-free makes the whole world feel alive and supremely explorable. Just be careful; the game will hold your hand for a grand total of five seconds before booting you into a world where all of the local fauna have it out for you and will absolutely WRECK you if you aren't familiar with the somewhat clunky combat system. It gets easier later on but the challenge is always there. Don't be scared though; the danger just makes exploring that much more rewarding.… Expand

    Шедевральная игра, продолжающая историю неизвестного бродяги, заброшенного в колонию Миненталь, и который даже не догадывался,    ..И вот, я прошел ее снова, уже фиг его знает в какой раз, и на этот раз уже здесь, в стиме.
    Игра детства.. Первая игра жанра РПГ, которая была мной пройдена (Правда это была первая часть, но не суть, франшиза ведь так же). Как же давно было.. Эх, ностальгия.

    Шедевральная игра, продолжающая историю неизвестного бродяги, заброшенного в колонию Миненталь, и который даже не догадывался, какая судьба его ждет и что от его решений, по сути, зависила судьба целого королевства. Здесь вас ждет суровый мир, где уже с начала игры вам придется драться чуть ли не с самыми суровыми противниками в игре, где постоянно не будет хватать опыта и денег, где каждый второй будет вам дерзить и втаптывать в грязь, а вы в свою очередь должны будете из нее медленно но верно подниматься. Каждый раз проходя игру еще один раз я находил в ней новые квесты или персонажей, новые предметы и пути разрешенения конфликтов. Иногда, конечно, может надоедать принципиальная однообразность квестов (принеси-убей-заплати-найди), но что поделать, неотъемлемая часть РПГ. Персонажи получились довольно интересными и неоднообразными, многие настроенны к вам недружелюбно и пытаються вас подставить ограбить или убить, кого-то можно переубедить это делать или даже настроить к себе притовоположно, но некоторых сколько не колоти все бестолку. Арсеналом тоже не обделили, но за доспехи вам придется отдавать космические суммы (Наемник), а чтобы нормально использовать оружие придется тратить несчетное количество очков прокачки на владение им, а также на стат, отвечающий за это оружие (Сила, Ловкость). Магия также довольно разнообразна и в игре присутвует множество рун и развитие по пути мага. Мир заполнен всякой живностью, которая не даст вам заскучать, ведь по началу победить даже стаю волков будет ой как не просто. Даже и не знаю про что еще говорить, уверен что не раз еще пройду ее снова, ведь каждый раз почти как новый..
    Думаю, вывод очевиден.
    10/10. Рекомендую, но не уверен, что кто-то кроме олдфагов будет играть, очень печально все это :(    … Expand

    Uno dei migliori GDR a cui io abbia mai giocato. Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi. Ci metterete un po' a familiarizzare con i sistemi di gioco e di combattimento, ma una volta presa la mano non vi sarà poi complicato sapervi gestire.Uno dei migliori GDR a cui io abbia mai giocato. Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi. Ci metterete un po' a familiarizzare con i sistemi di gioco e di combattimento, ma una volta presa la mano non vi sarà poi complicato sapervi gestire.     Lo jugé como paladin/clerigo, ya que me puse una runa de curación al máximo y otra en la que hacia una cantidad de daño considerable a criaturas ostiles como orcos y dragones. Me ha pasado como en gothic1, y es que al ejecutar    Gothic 2 lo jugé hace mucho tiempo y recuerdo que era muy parecido a gothic 1 pero con mejores gráficos, y más hechizos. Es la continuación de gothic 1.

    Lo jugé como paladin/clerigo, ya que me puse una runa de curación al máximo y otra en la que hacia una cantidad de daño considerable a criaturas ostiles como orcos y dragones.

    Me ha pasado como en gothic1, y es que al ejecutar gothic2 me da el error Access Violation. Para solucionarlo he aplicado la misma solución que en gothic1

    1.-Bajarse el parche 2.6 (el que viene con steam creo que es el 2,7(eng)), a si que he desactualizado :(
    2.-Crear un acceso directo de gothic2.exe al escritorio.

    Despues de esto, he podido jugar pero los textos no se cargaban. Para solucionar lo de los textos he echo lo siguiente.

    En la carpeta: steamSteamAppscommonGothic II_workDataScriptsCONTENTCUTSCENE
    he renombrado los siguientes ficheros:

    -Out.dat lo renombramos por: Out.bin
    -Out.lsc lo renombramos por: Out.csl

    Y con esto he podido jugar correctamente.    … Expand

    The best game I ever played. Still I like to return to this masterpiece. If I would have to take one game with me on the desert island this would be the one I choose. I love that you can join different fractions and this changes your whole play style.

    For those complaining about glitches and bugs, download unofficial patch called "Gothic 2 System pack" which removes a lot of the glitches and makes Gothic 2 run on modern Windows without much technical problems.

    Yes, G2 is really tough at the beginning and even weaker monsters can easily kill you. But that's the point! You have to become stronger, learn the combat mechanics, use some tactic, be patient and then you will be able to kill that damn goblin who kicked your ass several hours ago.

    -- Combat --
    I had no problem with controls, it came all naturally to me. The combat is perfectly balanced. You can hit, block, dodge back and strafe (circle around enemy) and your enemies can usually do exactly the same. Big troll won't strafe too much because it is slow for him, instead he will punch you - and he will punch you hard. Small goblins will strafe to make it harder for you to hit them, humans will try to block your attacks etc. Combat in real world is about hitting the enemy and avoiding hits from the enemy. Combat in G2 is inspired by this reality so if enemies manage to corner you, you're probably f*cked. Lesson learned, load the game and try again.

    And even if you tried 30 times and the enemy still smashes you, then try to come back later. You didn't expect to kill a group of bandits while wearing light armor and armed only with a sword that you can't even handle properly, did you?

    -- World & exploration --
    World in G2 is not like in modern open world games. There are no warning signs that "you're approaching area with high-level enemies". The only warning you'll get is from other characters who mention something like "don't go to forest, you will die". And if you go into the forest unprepared, you will most likely die - but that's *your* responsibility.

    Again, world in G2 feels like a real place. People are mostly in town and farms, skeletons in tombs, wolves near forests etc. If citizen from town tells you to find the hideout of bandits, you have to think what would be a logical place for hideout (probably somewhere near the town) and then pay attention while going through area. Seek and ye shall find.

    World isn't big, but it's easy to get lost for a first time. Did you buy a map? No. Can someone near you point you to right direction. No. Well, it was *your* decision to go into the world unprepared. Lesson learned, load the game and try again.

    -- Character development --
    You can learn melee or ranged weapons, magic and some other things. But invest your points wisely. It's not wise to decide on level 20 that you switch from melee to magic. "Jack of all trades, master of none" is approach that will only make the game harder for you.

    While the game is easiest when focused on melee, it can be finished only with bows, only as a pure mage... It just requires some experience.

    You learn the skills and attributes from teachers. You have to find each teacher. This helps to immerse you in the game because you gain strength by talking to person, not by clicking some virtual button.

    -- Equipment --
    There's a lot of armors, weapons and magic. The money is scarce at the beginning. But that's the point! You have to think twice what you sell, keep or buy. Want more money? Do quests, learn to pick locks and loot chests, steal from houses etc. But don't break the law, because penalty costs something...

    Want to get better armor and equipment? Join a faction, advance in story, help somebody, loot some ancient tomb.

    -- Story, quests & dialogues --
    Not much to write about story - it is linear, generally uninteresting.

    Quests are usually entertaining and some of them offer several ways how to complete them. Will you rat on thieves guild or join them? Or perhaps join them, take their money and then rat on them. Did you give a fee to soldier when he politely asked? No. Well, don't be surprised if he refuses to help you in the future.

    Dialogues are natural and reasonable. Talk with people, it can give you valuable information. You may miss lot of quests (and money) if you're too lazy to listen to people.

    -- FINAL VERDICT --
    Gothic 2 is a game that you can't just 'play'. You need to 'understand' the game. You will be weak. You will die. You will get better. You will die again. But it will never be unfair. You start as a weak man and end as a saviour of the world.

    This is the best game that I ever played. It happened to be one of the first games which I ever played, nearly 8-10 years ago, helping me with a lot of improvements in my english skills. At that time, it used to be an era in which the graphic didn't matter too much, not noticing actually how it could have been evolved nowadays, but, it has a nice gameplay and an incredibly storyline. IThis is the best game that I ever played. It happened to be one of the first games which I ever played, nearly 8-10 years ago, helping me with a lot of improvements in my english skills. At that time, it used to be an era in which the graphic didn't matter too much, not noticing actually how it could have been evolved nowadays, but, it has a nice gameplay and an incredibly storyline.     One of the best RPGs ever made. On par with TES: Morrowind.
    Let's hope there will be a good remastered version, soon. Just like they plan with Gothic 1.

    This game time is artificially prolonged by ridiculous amounts of difficulty. The clunky and unresponsive control scheme is bad enough, but you start so weak that you're forced to do a lot of mindless leveling up before you can do anything interesting.
