    I love this game. It takes me to another world. A world which seems to be better. I feel I belong here. But I always walk back into this existence. 10/10

    器用振りの弓パラディンでクリア。
    クリアに至るまで色々と大変だったが、中々良い、大作ＲＰＧだった。３つの割と広大なエリアを冒険するセミ・オープンワールド・・・というか昨今のファンタジー系のオープンワールドＲＰＧの基礎となったゲームといえる感じだろうか。
    前作からの設定を背負ってる割に貧弱な主人公を、兵士・傭兵・魔法使いのいずれかにし、邪神の使者であるドラゴン達を倒すのが基本的なゲームの目標である。 多くの章からなる構成になっており、クエストの数は膨大で、ボリュームに関しては相当なものだった。 ほぼ常にセーブが可能であるとはいえ、難易度は総合的にかなり高かったように思う。 （例　後半の凍結する飛び道具に当たったらほぼ死亡確定、敵集団を下手にけしかけると袋叩きで死亡確定、等々）    器用振りの弓パラディンでクリア。

    キングスフィールドのような古い３ＤＲＰＧが好きで、難易度が高いものを求めている人にはオススメできる一作。
    しかし、かなりの文章量とマップやクエスト関連のシステムやインターフェースの不親切さ、ウィンドウモードがない等々の点から、かなり言語の壁が厳しいものになっている。さらに元々ドイツのゲームということで、英語の攻略情報も完備されてるとはいい難いのでその辺りは注意。    … Expand

    Uno dei migliori GDR a cui io abbia mai giocato. Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi. Ci metterete un po' a familiarizzare con i sistemi di gioco e di combattimento, ma una volta presa la mano non vi sarà poi complicato sapervi gestire.Uno dei migliori GDR a cui io abbia mai giocato. Storia interessante, tantissime quest, luoghi da esplorare, segreti e oggetti da scoprire, il tutto farcito con una difficoltà piuttosto alta, ma di cui troppi GDR al giorno d'oggi sono privi. В Готике II меня порадовал красивый мир, продуманный сюжет, чарующая атмосфера, большое кол- во фракций, музыкальное сопровождение, приятный геймплей. АБСОЛЮТНО ВСЁ великолепно в этой игре.     Dle mého je tato hra nejlepší z celé série. Je zde vidět, jak hodně vývojáři postoupili od prvního dílu. Je zde mnohonásobně větší a hezčí svět, mnohem delší a zajímavější příběhová linie a vše perfektně navazuje na první díl. Bojový systém je příjemně vylepšený, doknce lze říct že je úplně nový.

    Od této hry můžete očekávat spoustu zajímavých úkolů, které nejsou v podstatě nijak oděleny    Dle mého je tato hra nejlepší z celé série. Většina úkolů je takového typu, že dorazíte do nějaké lokace a chcete se dostat dále, takže se musíte nějak osvědčit, aby vás vpustili dále a samozřejmě chcete peníze lepší vybavení a zkušenosti. Toto se může zdát repetetivní, ale zajímavá zápletka a nějaké speciální vedlejší úkoly vás poženou stále dál a dál.

    Co se týče vylepšování vaší postavičky tak vše funguje tak jak má a celé to funguje na klasickém systému zdraví, mana, síla a obratnost. Samozřejmě zde nechybí speciální dovednosti, jako třeba akrobacie, plížení atd.

    Tato hra toho nabízí celkem hodně zajímavého obsahu, přičemž pokud budete chtít udělat všechny úkoly tak vám to zabere zhruba 80 hodin.    … Expand

    Es ist einfach Gothic. Jeder sollte dieses Spiel gespielt haben. Die Atmosphäre ist einfach nur genial. Ich könnte Stunden lang darüber nachdenken, wie ich all die positiven Dinge irgendwie aufzählen kann und würde immer noch keine Ahnung haben. Man muss es einfach gespielt haben, um sich einen Eindruck davon machen zu können. Das Einzige, was dem im Wege steht, ist dasEs ist einfach Gothic. Jeder sollte dieses Spiel gespielt haben.     Probably the only game I've replayed at least a dozen times over the years. Masterfully put together as the best and first RPG game I ever played. If this were ever remastered my life would be complete.

    Gothic 2 with the add-on The Night Of The Raven is truly a masterpiece of an rpg. The story, the voiceacting, the melee fighting mechanics, the vast and diverse world is one of a kind. Gothic 1 should be played before this game, so you wont have trouble understanding the story ( and gothic 1 is fantastic game as well ).

    Pros - This game is a true open-world rpg. You can visit the vast    Gothic 2 with the add-on The Night Of The Raven is truly a masterpiece of an rpg. The story, the voiceacting, the melee fighting mechanics, the vast and diverse world is one of a kind. Gothic 1 should be played before this game, so you wont have trouble understanding the story ( and gothic 1 is fantastic game as well ).

    Pros
    - This game is a true open-world rpg. You can visit the vast majority of places in the world without story developing into those regions
    - The melee fighting mechanic is very well constructed. The combos are really fun execute. The AI meelefighters are also masterfully done. You will understand in a very short time, that you are facing a true blademaster. The parries, dodges and combos the enemies can do makes the fighting experience something beyond many rpg games i have played.
    - The magic in the game is diverse. Healing, summoning, teleportation, elemental, status effect you have everything in this game. The AI mages usually use low level spells, but sometimes you encounter your usual enemy mage casting one the strongest fire spells if you allow him to execute the spell in time.
    - The story is fantastic. Very well written, very well coordinated through npcs, augmented with side-quests helping you get through the main story.
    - The side quest are what makes this game on the best in its time.
    - The voice acting is fantastic ( especially the german)
    - The integration of the gothic 1 characters is smoothly done. They fit right in where you will find them here in gothic 2
    - The world is wonderfully constructed, each new region has a center plaza to rotate easily between places of importance. Different terrain in nearly all the new places you encounter. Vast number of monsters. Huge number of npcs. The npcs with no names ( eg. a novice) has speech option, where he or she will give a different responses to the different events happening in the world of khorinis at that time
    - Replayable through different faction selections.
    - Fantastic world and boss music

    Cons
    - Minor logic mistake with npc equipments
    - Playing as a mage in add-on is very hard. This is very sad, because some of the add-on introduced spells are very fun to use ( the normal G2 mage is still fine)
    - Some of the boss battles are not working properly, the patterns leave open a lot of abuses for archers and mages to exploit.
    - There are still some bugs for unlimited gold if you have the time to do it multiple times. ( nothing gamebreaking )    … Expand

    9.4 - Very underrated. Great game overall with its medieval soundtrack, fun combat and varied and detailed locations. Probably the best part is the hilarious voice acting throughout the entire game.

    A still close to state-of-the-art atmosphere, with 'living' people and places, authentic social structures in an open world and a straight story line with lots of sidelines - the end might be a bit disputable, but nevermind. A classic.

    Best Game of all time. Not enough room to write what i think of this game Its all about scaling mountains and going about problems several different ways and earning your first stash or killing that impossible orc or troll then grinding your way to killing several at once with a stick.

    THE one and only best game of my life. Never before, or never after have I been so deep inside a story. 100% immersion. Thanks to The night of the raven expansion, bugs are scarce, plot line is cosy, includes many old friends, lets you make a new ones, but watch out not to be betrayed! If you don't min/max everything the difficulty curve is always on the same level which is hard, butTHE one and only best game of my life. Never before, or never after have I been so deep inside a story. 100% immersion.     One of my favorite games of all time. Really great atmosphere, AMAZING MUSIC, and awsome gameplay. Although the story wasn't the best it still does a good job of keeping you interested. One of the best combat systems i've ever seen, to really enjoy the game you need to go out into the forest and kill everything you can. Very open ended has loads of quests so you dont get bored. OnceOne of my favorite games of all time. Really great atmosphere, AMAZING MUSIC, and awsome gameplay. Although the story wasn't the best it still does a good job of keeping you interested. One of the best combat systems i've ever seen, to really enjoy the game you need to go out into the forest and kill everything you can. Very open ended has loads of quests so you dont get bored. Once you've put alot of time into the game you start to feel like a badass until you get humbled by something bigger that you've never seen before. a definate must play and i would reccomend this game to any hardcore rpg player it will change how you look at role playing games.… Expand

    Not for me, but this game is great. I love gothic, I love the characters, I love the story - everything.
    This is a terrific continuation of the first part.

    Gothic & Gothic 2 are recommended for each of the approach may role-playing games.

    After playing the first one i know it that i need to play the second one and i was not wrong. Combat got even better the before, there ware more places to visit and even old places to visit. Many new characters and old friends.

    Strange thing is: This game had a user rating of about 8.8- 9.2 some months ago! If you look at the reviews you will notice that written reviews are almost all very positive. But there seem to be many people who dislike the game but didnt't tell us why. And believe me: these negative ratings were not there half a year ago.     Completed 12 times, last time was 8 months ago. After you get used to old controls and graphic game is epic again. Night of the raven is pretty big expansion to this game and makes it more difficult, highly recommended to play with it. Gothic 1 and 2 will always be the best games of my life :)

    For me, Gothic and Gothic II are the definition of perfect game. The setting, the atmosphere, the way the world lives are the best features of the game. You will feel as a part of that world and that is what I miss in today's games. The story is amazingly well written and the characters actually have characteristic features, I love the way they tell jokes or get angry with you.     Even in this age and time, this game beats any new tittle of it's genre. Truly, Gothic II is a great game with an awesome story. You awake in a world full of wonders and possibilities. There has never been an atmosphere in any other game like in Gothic 2, it's not as colorful as most modern RPGs but has more natural darker colors which underline the more "realistic" setting.     Despite a few bugs and glitches, this game is the most addictive and my favorite RPG game. The story is awesome and offers you a lot of freedom and the effects are good even 10 years after the game has been released. It also feels epic while battling dragons and orcs. In my opinion, the best RPG game ever made.

    I have, Personally, played Gothic 3 more than one and have gone trough many of the possibilities of the game such as the three factions. The game is wonderful, there is large amount of exploration involved in a small map where you can go just about anywhere you can see, with few exceptions. Another thing that disappointed me is the fact that I found, after activating cheats, that a lot of the in-game items could only be accessed by cheating. But Other than this the story has an awesome amount of involvement and

    Gothic 2 is the best RPG i played. Excellent graphics for its time, the atmosphere, but in this game, everything is fine. The game draws on many days, you do not meet corny generated quests that ask you to give something to another person, but even if they meet, before it will tell a beautiful story, sent to the destination (man and then find a place for yourself, it's not like Skyrim,Gothic 2 is the best RPG i played. Excellent graphics for its time, the atmosphere, but in this game, everything is fine.     All they say is "oh they let me in the big city saying do x, y and z and now i'm supposed to talk with everyone just to find out what to do" no! we'll serve you everything on a plate! That's what makes this game funny- learning about what's going on in the world you're in!!!
    "oh, games too hard" that's because it hardcore not something you play now-a-days! And it's because of story from G1 who played- knows!! One more thing if it's too hard for you just try Heights of Power mod...
    "oh controls are to hard" oh really?! that the point you're thrown into the game you need to SURVIVE in it! Back in G1 it took me half an hour to find out how to pick stuff from a chest! That was fun! That and not when you get a full manual about game!
    "oh combat is too hard" maybe because it not "hack'n'slash" or "smash that button" but it's tactical and pretty engaging...
    "quests fell just like running around..." or maybe you like just to kill and not do something for you fellows convicts!
    this wasn't so much of a review it was more of a defending my favorite game from corruptive people and companies!

Things suddenly get WAY more challenging at this point, and all of the basically over-length introduction starts to pay off then.     Gothic II is really interesting position in every RPG fan collection. Yes, it can be difficult for new players mainly because of controls, but overall rating is still very, very high. Good storyline, quite big, open world and the borders of playable space are not finished with "magic" wall where you can not go - just try to swimm further in to the ocean... In fact, in terms of pacing it got even worse. Much worse. Now you're thrust right into a huge city without any direction as to what to do. Or in fact, you are told to go and do x, y, and z. However, when you try to find out how to get those tasks done, the game just shrugs and tells you to find it out by yourself. Now this is incredibly boring. Do I have to go around and talk to every NPC in the city in a hope that at least one of them can tell me something useful? I understand open gameplay and all, but it still needs some direction. If the game isn't going to bother to captivate and immerse me, then why should I continue to plough on, hoping that eventually it would get interesting? It's just incredibly slow paced. If you are someone who wants to get right into the game and do interesting stuff, then I'd avoid Gothic 2 for sure. Now I've still got Gothic 3 left.     Game play:
    Game play is an open world third person RPG with real time combat. NPC will have schedules in what they do or when they sleep. Monsters will have behavior patterns where they wander around, will investigate and eat corpses, and take a fighting stances to ward you off rather then be a constant predator. Quests are long and detailed with many different ways to complete them. You will have huge environments to explore and scavenge in order to survive the 6 chapters you play and will be traveling back and forth between locations and this can sometimes be boring after awhile. Later on,You will get access to teleporters that will take you to certain locations. It may seem annoying not to teleport to wherever you want but it keeps it so exploration is risky and dangerous. The environments will change in each chapter and people will have new quests. You can expect to die a lot as you learn from your mistakes but they are not unfair as you will learn to foresee them. The game play is awkward at first but it works well as you get use to it. Combat focuses on Kitting, which means isolating your enemy and/or keeping your distance while hitting them away from their reach with magic and arrows. Fighting monsters in the game means you have to learn their attack patterns and back off to avoid their attacks as you can't block their attacks. Magic and arrows will always kill humans while swords will incapacitate them temporarily if they are NPC's. You can block human's attacks but they are much stronger then monsters and more likely to kill you if you get hit due to their high weapon abilities. It is possible to fight enemies even at level 1 but it takes a lot of work. If you can kill an enemy at the distance the better you will be especially if it with groups or monsters that attack in groups. At first you will not be able to handle groups of monsters and barely handle a goblin but after while you will especially when you will be facing groups of enemies in chapter 2. Humans and any opponent that uses weapons should always best fought one on one to avoid dying. The game will continuously get harder as you go along so the game will always be a challenge.

    To level up in this game you must fight monsters, knock out or kill humans, complete quests, perform stunt bonuses, pickpocket people. The amount of experience you need will increase to large amounts making it important to think about where you will place your learning points. When you level up you get 10 learning points to spend on trainers to level up your skills and stats. These trainers can be any NPC that has a name so you should talk to everyone.The game has it's fair amount of bugs an glitches though they are small Sound:
    The sound in this game is quiet good. From the sound of foots steps to the natural ambiance of the world. It all pulls you into the atmosphere of the game. Even the music is good. There are not a lot of songs in the game so it can be tiring to listen to after while but they fit the mood of the game well. They are memorable. The acting in the game is pretty good with everyone sounding like a real person and not overacting. Unfortunately, for the size of the game, you will hear many of the same actors over and over again with some minor variations in tone. Never the less, the same voices being heard repeatedly won't hurt the enjoyment of the game. Graphics:
    The graphics in the game are quiet good. All textures are very detailed with real color tones unlike most modern game. Even the fog and the sun shine adds to the atmosphere of making the game to look almost like a painting. The graphics despite coming out in 2002 still stand the test of time in being pleasant on the eyes and looking good at high resolutions. The game can be played in 4:3 and 16: 10 resolutions. You can go into the ini file to edit in 16:9 resolution but it glitches were every time you die, it turns into stretch mode which can be cured by talking to someone or maybe by interacting with an object.

    Conclusion: Overall I would recommend this game to anyone that likes RPG's and wants to experience something different. You can buy this game DRM free at GOG for $10 or get the entire Gothic trilogy for $25 on GamerGate    … Expand

    The second part of Gothic. With a better graphic, a deeper story and the add-on 'Night of the Raven', this game make all things right. The atmosphere is perfect, the characters have their own life and the details around the world are amazing. If you like the first part, you'll love GII.

    One of my favorite games of all time. The wonderfully crafted world had a living feel to it which was years ahead of it's time. With everyone fallowing a daily routine which included even recreational activities. The island world really felt like it could have existed in some world at some time, not artificially constructed like many game environments do.

    After getting bored with Skyrim after just a few hours, I reinstalled this game and gonna have a lot of fun with it again. One of the best RPG's out there. Bit dated graphics but the gameplay makes a game, not the textures.

    My personal, all-time favorite RPG. The nostalgia goggles will never come off on this one, and I would pay anything to experience this game again like it was the first time.     This is really an amazing continuation of the first Gothic game. It has pretty much everything what Gothic 1 had plus many improvements. The graphics look better now. What I complained about in my review for Gothic 1, is also fixed here. I mean, side quests. With each chapter we will encounter new side quests. Overall there are many in game. Also, the game is more difficult than Gothic 1, especially if we also have Gothic 2: Night of the Raven expansion. This expansion is really worth the money, because it not only adds whole new world to explore, but also makes the game more difficult. Also, changes and adds stuff to the original world from Gothic 2, too. Gothic 2 + Gothic 2: NOTR expansion make the most awesome RPG ever made in my opinion. The storyline is still linear yet we still make some choices here and there. Yet again we get to pick which faction we join, and this affects the game more than it did in the first Gothic game. Even the NPCs will treat us differently. We get to choose between the monastery of fire magicians, mercenaries, and town militia. Further in the game we advance to higher rank, depending which faction we chose. Story line is still amazing and I don't have much more to say to it. Music is better than in the previous game. Not a single bad word I can say to it. If I was reviewing Gothic 2 alone, I would give it 9, but together with G2: NOTR they make purely epic game which is almost flawless. Sometimes we can encounter some bugs but really rarely. We were able to forge weapons in Gothic 1 but in Gothic 2 now we can learn to forge various types of swords. We are able to learn alchemy and brew potions, too. We even need to create runes as a mage in order to be able to use new spells. Let me do a summary.

    Pros:
    -Everything that was in first Gothic 1, plus many fixes and improvements to the game.

    Cons:

At the time I stumbled across this, while bored and looking for a random game to kill time with, I had never experienced such a detailed and cohesive world. This game still highly impresses me, as does its expansion, The Night of the Raven.

It's story is very involving, and unlike a lot of other RPGs, you really feel that you are living within the world of Gothic 2, making decisions with consequences.     An excellent game. It has a few glitches and a fairly steep learning curve, but if you loved the first one or just love RPG's in general, this is a lost gem.

    This is the best game ever. Although graphics are not up to date it has a very nice story and a fascinating combat system (not this easy click, slay and win). If you have some nights left, get it and play!

    One of the most enjoyable RPGs I've played. Took me hours to complete, but was fun the whole time. One of the very few that was playable without a single patch and with very little fuss at the highest res. As a player you can choose a variety of actions which don't paint you into an in escapable position from which you have to re-start the whole game to make any progress.     The grapics are a bit outdated after 4 years but, while waiting for Gothic 3, I took up the challenge again. The gameplay is superior to all other RPG's. You take up challenges as difficult as you can handle. If something is too difficult for you, you can choose to do a few easier tasks to accomplish your goal. It is very addictive and most of the time impressive.

It's like Morrowind...except with a balanced skill tree and a combat engine that's actually FUN, if a bit odd at first. Outside of the Black Isle games, Gothic is as good as it gets.     This Game is the best. Well worth buying. Gothic II is the most addictive Game i have played. This game gives you a lot of freedom so you always have somthing to do in the Game.

    Just play Gothic 1 and then continue your experience with the great sequel Gothic 2. Gothic can be played multiple times cause you can choose different paths to finish the game. And every time you play it you will discover new things that you missed at previous play. What can I say? GREAT GAME !!! Buy it ! And wait for the sequel Gothic 3.

At a point walking around over and over to the same places get annoying you get Runes who can be used to teleport around the Isle of Khorinis. If you are a Germany, you will love the speech..funny indeed.;). Don't believe the mag-bashing above, they wouldn't recognize a good RPG even when the One of the best RPGs ever created.     A great RPG. Good grapics, cool NPC to talk to. A very good skill and Magic system and a good story. It has everything most of the newer RPGs did not. If you like a GOOD RPG..try this and toss the rest.

    This game was released in my country ( Poland ) in June... This game is one of the greatest ever!!! But be careful - this game will take you out of the real world It's so addictive...

    One of the best RPGs of the last 10 years. Great story, 3 very different classes you can experience. Very much to do.Great graphics, cool speech and nice AI. Good game that kept me 5 weeks on the PC!!! Buy and enjoy!

    While I really don't like rpgs (especially morrowind), I found this one to be quite fun. Most rpgs have a very boring combat system and one has to read pages of text to get an idea of what the story is about. Not gothic. The characters actually speak their lines and, generally, only repeat the important stuff.     It's a very intriguing and addictive game which could have been better. It's big with lots of quests although kind of difficult at start. It has nice graphics and music that make a convincing "Gothic" environment. Menus and interaction are too simplistic unlike other rpg's. Overally a very good game for rpg fans.

    This game time is artificially prolonged by ridiculous amounts of difficulty. The clunky and unresponsive control scheme is bad enough, but you start so weak that you're forced to do a lot of mindless leveling up before you can do anything interesting.
