    It's not that this is a bad game, it's just far too little/late for this point in the market. The setting is wonderful, and there are some cool systems in play here.... it's just marred by yesterday's graphics, too little polish, and some weird design decisions.

    We wanted to like this game, really. There's a lot of potential there and from time to time it's even fun to play. But nothing has been implemented properly, it's just a half-baked game full of bugs.

    At first I planned to turn my whole review into a vivid description of all the bugs that Gods & Heroes charmed me with, like holes in textures, missing descriptions on the map, misguiding signposts, running through lava rivers unharmed, fighting hand to hand against an owl that was floating 30 feet above the ground or chasing a snake that managed to climb on top of some shed. What's even worse, God & Heroes looks awful. It should have never been dug up and resurrected by Heatwave Interactive – it reeks and its jerks poorly imitate life. [September 2011, p.66]

    Gods & Heroes might have made a passable showing in 2005 in its current state, but in this age of Rift and the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic, Heatwave's new release might as well be a Pompeian graffito in a Rembrandt exhibition.

    The current game is broken, buggy, and not very fun. The plans for the future of Gods & Heroes are noble, but the core game needs to be reworked first and that could take far longer than it's worth.

The developers are some of the most communicative that I've ever seen, yet still manage to be chronically and tragically out of touch with what their players want and need. This game could have done respectably well in a free-to-play market, but because of their constantly tone-deaf responses, they will find it near impossible to regain even a neutral word of mouth with most MMO-playing gamers.… Full Review »
