What it will do, however, is help pass the time away for nine to twelve hours with its mindless but ultimately fun approach to the genre.
  2. The game takes hits for its often crappy camera angles. Still, it’ll satisfy your raging blood lust.
  3. One of the slight problems I had with this game was the difficulty. At many points in this game the difficulty got to be very testing. At times it seems like you are being swarmed by enemies, and some parts may take a lot of practice to get through.
  4. If you can look past some of the game's mechanical shortcomings and the PC version's annoying compatibility issues, you'll likely be pleased with what Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance has to offer.

There's no knocking the stellar visuals, solid storyline, and unrelenting blood-spilling. But the overall design is weak, and you'll have to slog through a lot of frustration to get to the good stuff. [Apr 2004, p.82]
  6. Average graphics and sound with repetitive gameplay, and you’re left with a mediocre product. SOV has it's moments, but is otherwise uninspired.

While Gladiator has excellent production values, its gameplay is fairly pedestrian compared to some console offerings. However, its style of gameplay is still fairly unique in the PC world, making it oddly compelling in very short bursts. [June 2004, p.80]
