    Despite the control issues and short playthrough length, the relaxing ambiance, charming story, and beautiful artwork make this an adventure title well worth playing.

    Giraffe and Annika is a rhythm adventure game that is short on rhythm, and too heavy on the tedious portions of the adventure. Still, Giraffe and Annika manages to make the most of this title, with beautiful manga inspired panels, enjoyable dialog, and a very fun rhythmic battles, even if they are in short supply. Children and young adults could find a lot to love here, but in comparison to other rhythmic games and adventure games on the market, it may not hold your attention for long.

    The biggest sin that Giraffe and Annika suffers from is a distinct lack of focus on top of grandiose ideas that don’t quite land in the way that one would hope. It suffers from the problem of trying to do many things, but not doing any of them well enough to stand out in any meaningful way. Most everything I can say about this game can be traced back to how bland most of it is. Level design, gameplay, and some aesthetic choices are uninteresting and slow. While it does nail a few things given their goals, it ultimately stumbles the landing. That’s the most disappointing thing, because it could have been so much more.

    Giraffe is a fun game in general but the control become annoying around the ending. The graphics are good. I really loved all the 2d illustrations that told the story. The music rhythm fight isn't so great. I mean, even on easy it unforgiving on the timing. The music is great however. The control is something bad at time. The jumping isn't precise. Which became very bad in the last 2 levels. Swimming is slow and fuzzy. I wasn't always impress with some level designs, very unequal. I like the collecting stuff. I give it a 68%. A game for children and maybe a bit for adult. Sadly the controls are missing at times, but overall enjoyable for the story.… Full Review »

    Giraffe and Annika is a 6 hour long 3d Platforming adventure game with a dash of rhythm based elements thrown in…
    Here you play as Annika who sets out to help Giraffe gathers these 3 gems from 3 different portals, one forest, one water, and one fire… each portal takes you to a platforming level, all progressively getting more convoluted.. the first is more stealth and sneaking, but as you complete each area you gain new abilities, until you can eventually jump, ddash, and hold you breath under water longer… but these platforming sections are just a small part of what makes giraffe and Annika what it is… at the end of these levels there are boss battles, all of which are rhythm based mini games, simply hit the ball when it hits the ground until the boss is down, this is the weakest part of the game… not too much challenge or fun here… the fun to me is when youre back at the island, running around slving problems to progresss the story.. this game is essentially a full version of the first section of kingdom hearts, helping a ghost collect wood to fix a bridge, helping a mother bind her baby bunnies… this brought the world of giraffe and Annika to life for me… it made me dread the dull platforming sections… that is until the game starts to overstay its welcome… 6 hours may not seem like a long play time, but Giraffe and Annika goes on for 2 hours too long… theres only so much dead end mission structure one can take… Don’t get me wrong, these types of missions have their place, but getting hit over the head with them constantly drains you… it kills pacing and makes the player impatient… I don’t mind having to collect bunnies or wood before I move on.. but to then have to collect cloth, go take pictures, go find this go find that… get all the way to the end of the game only to for it to be like oh you don’t have this item, go find it after making you take a journey to that place to be told just that.. time after time, over and over and over and over.. its exhausting…. It was my issue with Die Young, and its my issue here with Giraffe and Annika… sure again I love these types of dead ends here and there.. but when this is the entire game, I cant anymore.. let me just move on, let me make some steady progression from time to time.. space it out…
    All in all Giraffe and Annika is an enjoyable and cute game with an interesting story, its just a shame such a short run time has to be broken up into multiple play sessions for your sanitys sake…
