Ghostrunner 2 is an exemplary sequel, improving upon the original in every way. With better Energy systems, delightful and responsive bike levels, fantastic bosses, and the same quick-paced gameplay from the original, it's a no-brainer for anyone who remotely enjoyed the first.

Ghostrunner 2 ended up surprising me. While I wasn’t too pleased with the opening levels initially, it ended up hooking me quite a bit throughout, and I love how it feels on Steam Deck. This will likely be the only portable version of the game for a long time now, so I’m glad the team at One More Level made it such a great experience on both Steam Deck and PS5.

Ghostrunner 2 is not the sequel I expected. Instead of just “bigger and improved”, I got a real rollercoaster of crazy events, brilliantly designed levels and new additions that turned a one-dimensional story into a futuristic anime. From rushing down neon corridors to riding a motorbike through wastelands to exploring cyberspace – everything offers incredible experiences.

Once again, One More Level has created a speedrunner’s dream. For new players it might be somewhat hard to master, but once you get the gameplay down pat you’ll experience one of the most rewarding and unique titles of 2023. It’s so much fun to play, and the new abilities and changes are a welcome addition. The inclusion of the motorcycle, whilst somewhat janky, is a breath of fresh air to the core gameplay loop. One More Level has once again put their heart and soul into producing a fantastic game.

Ghostrunner 2 is a must-have for all fans of challenges and fast FPS. Be careful, it is clearly not for everyone. We are talking here about a fairly demanding game in which you simply must not take a single damage. However, the formula is at its peak here. This second part goes even faster and further than its predecessor. We are constantly stimulated, we are never bored for a single second and it is very difficult to switch off. Ghostrunner 2 also achieves the feat of never frustrating thanks to clever checkpoints and a freedom of action that leaves room for experimentation. The only downside is the motorbike phases which are sorely lacking in precision with the keyboard/mouse combo and can be quite difficult. But if that's the price to pay to have fun all the rest of the time, we sign.

If we weren't in a year full of good games, I would definitely say "the best game I've played recently" for Ghostrunner 2. It is one of the games that should definitely be mentioned years later when we talk about "what the hell was 2023?".

Ghostrunner 2 improves upon everything that made its predecessor great. Framed by a stunning, neon-bathed city with a soundtrack that’s to die for, One More Level’s latest is a high-octane parkour adventure that you really don’t want to miss.

Ghostrunner 2 is the natural progression from the first installment. It provides several new ideas that make this fast and violent experience more fun and engaging leaving us wanting for more.

In many ways, Ghostrunner 2 is a massive step up from its predecessor. Bigger setpieces, new locations, and the introduction of the motorbike led to the creation of an even more epic experience. But the high highs, like the epic bosses, are brought down by odd pacing issues.

Ghostrunner 2 is a near flawless sequel that retains all the outstanding aspects of its predecessor, while making significant improvements to the level design and gameplay. Even more satisfying are the two non-linear, sandbox-style levels that expand the world both inside and outside of Dharma City.

There are not many intense and skill-based euphoria moments in video games that feature such great platforming and instant death moments with enemies as the dance that is performed between the player, enemy and the environment of Ghostrunner 2. This is why this game is a great follow-up to Ghostrunner, upholding what made the first a superb game with its wonderful controls and movement while keeping its artistic cyberpunk visuals, but it is a shame that it hiccups with one level that spoils the overall great package.

Ghostrunner II finds itself right on par with the first game. The action remains razor-sharp in the beginning, with tight movement and combat that feels rewarding when you master it. The tweaks to existing mechanics and the addition of new moves keep things from devolving into being just "more of the same" when compared to the first title. The more open areas of the desert wasteland feel too freeing, and the various inconsistent issues put a damper on the game when players are experienced. Overall, Ghostrunner II is satisfying for those who can get a thrill from quick bursts of well-executed playthroughs.

Ghostrunner 2 boasts unique boss situations, clever puzzles and a surprisingly entertaining cyberpunk tale that is narratively more interesting than it should have been for this game.

Ghostrunner 2 is incredibly addictive and entertaining, honoring its predecessor. Most changes are for the better, but there are a few alterations that don't quite harmonize with the overall feel of the game. Nevertheless, Ghostrunner 2 undoubtedly earns its place among the best action games of the year. The second installment is a resounding success.

Some of the new features don't add much, and even slightly alter the formula of the first opus. But don't be fooled, the game is still very enjoyable overall.

Ghostrunner 2 is the perfect sequel: it improves on everything that made the first one great while innovating a great deal in the second half of the game: a true cyberpunk hit that keeps the first person platformer genre alive.

Ghostrunner 2 is as exciting, hectic, challenging and satisfying as the original. It occasionally fails with some of the new ideas and for certain players, the degree of similarity between the prequel and sequel might be too great to warrant a purchase. However, it still is an incredibly satisfying and pretty slasher.

While some of the story and side content could have been integrated into the game more smoothly, none of that comes close to stopping this sequel from doing what the original did best: unbeatable power fantasy at crazy speeds. Ghostrunner 2 is confident, cool, and brings a killer soundtrack along for the ride...This is a game that knows how good its core mechanics are, and it creates even better setpieces and scenarios to make the most of them. For fans of the first game, or players looking to start the series, this is an easy recommendation.

All I can say after finishing Ghostrunner 2 is that I want more. Considering that was my reaction at the end of the original Ghostrunner, I can say One More Level created a solid follow-up. Both titles might have had “meh” narratives, but the core gameplay is so fantastic I honestly didn’t care while I was playing. At its best, Ghostrunner 2 is the first game but better, and at its worst, it’s just a little less polished than its predecessor.

Despite the game's pacing issues and ability to enrage its players, Ghostrunner 2 can be a challenging game to put down. The game's exciting synth-wave tracks and well-written supporting cast pair well with its visuals and outstanding boss battles to keep players interested. Ghostrunner 2 improves on the first game in many ways, but if the sequel were an anime, a lot of it would feel like filler material between its more engaging, epic boss battles.

Sitting back and thinking about why I dig Ghostrunner 2 so much, I've landed firmly on the belief that it's because OneMoreLevel's dedication to building a game with the 'rule of cool' in mind has crossed over into my own personal tastes. For those who gain pleasure (guilty or otherwise) from an unashamed love of katanas and cybernetic augmentation, Ghostrunner 2 is pouring the gravy you love straight down your throat.

Ghostrunner 2 sticks to the fast-paced formula of "Live, die, repeat" while adding new mechanics, excellent levels and additions like the motorcycle. Some areas could use more polish, but as a whole, it's a futuristic rollercoaster from start to finish.

Ghostrunner 2 is as fun as it is difficult. While its complexity isn’t sustained throughout the quick-paced sword-slashing fun, it will rear its ugly head just enough for you to contemplate breaking thank lovely new monitor. However, as long as you stay strong, you will be rewarded with some of the most thrilling traversal and fights.

Ghostrunner 2 is, above all, a great video game. Strictly speaking, it is a pleasant sequel that represents a noticeable improvement in plot, playability, visuals and sound; an achievement that is, due to the quality of its predecessor, a milestone in itself. However, its profound technical shortcomings, as well as the misinterpretation of what made the original experience so genuine and fresh, keep it from transcending as much as the first, although it continues to be a highly recommended product.

Ghostrunner 2 is exactly the kind of sequel you'd want after the first game - expanding on the concept with more gameplay options, encounters, and mechanics to great effect...Not all the improvements are straight home runs, and some bugginess does occasionally frustrate - but they aren't big enough deals to distract from what is an overwhelmingly fun gameplay loop.

One More Level has nailed the important bits in Ghostrunner 2: the combat, the movement, the visuals, the soundtrack, and the challenge. It’s all a cacophony of intense action and pulse-pounding exhilaration – it’s just that the connective tissue keeps it from being a cohesive vision. By increasing the scope and breadth of the game, Ghostrunner 2 loses part of the essence of what made the first game so great. And yet, for the faults I do have with Ghostrunner 2, it’s still an awesome game that had my head bobbing to synthwave beats as I slow-moed around lasers and turned my foes into giblets with a flick of my cybernetic katana.

Good sequel for an already fun and espectacular game, that improves upon many aspects, but also can be a bit too ambitious introducing some elements that don’t really work too well.

Ghostrunner 2 is exactly what you'd expect. It amplifies the strengths of its predecessor with a more intricate ability system and manages a better variety of situations, yet it retains virtually all the flaws in Ghostrunner's flow. Nevertheless, it creates an always entertaining and challenging gameplay experience that you'll appreciate if you're already a fan of the original. It's not for everyone, and it will make you curse a lot as the death counter keeps rising, but its punishing nature is part of the price.

This is definitely not a game for everyone, it requires skill, attention and luck, and is designed to constantly repeat the same parts of the levels until you pass them. If you enjoy it, it will be interesting for you, if not, you better skip it.

With Ghostrunner 2, the One More Level studio is making an action-adventure shift that is not without its challenges. By focusing on larger and not always very precise areas, we lose a little of what made the first part charming... Here, “die and retry” is more often synonymous with frustration, which results in a less addictive experience! The adventure is thus punctuated by attempts (more or less successful) to flesh out the experience - with a few passages that stand out, particularly in the second part. We therefore end up with a pleasant experience, driven by gameplay that is always effective, but which gets lost a little too often.

Ghostrunner II slices through a neon-soaked cyberpunk world, offering blistering parkour and ninja combat. It may stumble mid-combo with changes to gameplay causing disruption to movement flow, as well as performance issues and ambitious yet awkward motorbike sequences. Yet, it remains a fun, if imperfect, action-packed journey, great for speedrunning.

Fast and furious fights in a cyberpunk world, this time also on a futuristic bike exploring post-apocalyptic lands – who wouldn’t love that? Too bad a few too many puzzle keep the adrenaline rush at bay and distract from the most exciting parts of the game.

It's difficult not to enjoy the rhythmic nature of Ghostrunner 2's finely-tuned blend of parkour and action, and it's also impossible to ignore some of the ways this sequel tries, but fails, to expand on its predecessor in terms of scope. It's disappointing that in most regards the increased ambition detracts from what makes Ghostrunner so captivating in the first place, taking time away from the expertly designed combat arenas and satisfying platforming gauntlets and using it instead to explore a barren, empty world with no novel ways to traverse it. Ghostrunner 2's narrative also fails to provide a compelling stopgap to ease the transition between these two distinct phases of the game, but when this sequel does course-correct back to what made it so popular to begin with, it provides an enthralling action experience. Ghostrunner 2 pulls back just in time before getting too close to the sun to remain an entertaining sophomore entry in the series that hopefully won't end here.

If you're in the market for a no-nonsense, balls-to-the-wall, frame-accurate movement shooter, then this neon-soaked game from One More Level will hit the spot. However, it isn't without its flaws.
