Jul 7, 2023Gal Guardians: Demon Purge is a game that will delight fans of 2D direct action. Excellent gameplay, outstanding final bosses and a set of charismatic characters and dialogues as witty as the Gal*Gun saga. A fun experience that lacks more creativity in level design, but the dynamism of its proposal and the good work in the genre of its developers elevate this remarkable game.

The best parts of the game are those ideas and mechanics which add something new, like the swappable sisters with unique strengths. For those gamers tired of uber-challenging action platformers, Gal Guardians Demon Purge’s streamlined gameplay and accessible difficulty might be a welcome change, if not a particularly revelatory experience.

Soloists can trade off between the gun-toting Shinobu and her melee-combo-using sister, Maya. However, having a partner for local co-op play makes Grim Guardians: Demon Purge truly shine.
