If we don't, everyone we love will be taken away!" One fateful night, a peaceful village is thrown into the flames of war. Determined to save their families, a group of children boards a giant tank and begins an offensive charge! Fuga: Melodies of Steel is an RPG where you place children, each with their own unique characteristics and skills, at different gun turrets in a tank to fight against the enemy.

Living inside the tank, the children show emotion and gain affinity amongst each other. Manage these both to change the outcome of their journey!

-A mysterious ancient weapon: The Taranis
Taranis, the giant tank sheltering the children, conceals many mysteries and somehow seems to have its own will. In situations of crisis, it can release a forbidden weapon, the dreadful Soul Cannon.

    -Your adventure. Your choices.
Will you make sacrifices for victory? Or will you seek another path?
In this RPG, many choices have to be made in order to progress...but taking the safest road may not always be the best option.
Faced with a desperate situation, what course of action will you choose?

Fuga: Melodies of Steel is perhaps one of the most impactful games I’ve ever played. The story and gameplay both serve to complement each other, with the story adding so much importance to your decisions, but with the horrible impact of firing the cannon entirely within your power to prevent if you pay attention to all your options. I don’t know if my experience will match everyone else’s, but I sincerely and genuinely felt something from this, and sometimes it just feels good to have something connect with you even as it hurts.

From the beautiful art and ethereal music to the addicting gameplay and loveable cast, Fuga: Melodies of Steel is easy to recommend to any fan of turn-based, strategy RPGs. It’s got everything that players love mechanically, but it’s blended in such a fun and innovative way that it feels simultaneously fresh and familiar. Complete with an invigorating story set against a soundtrack that was more like .hack// than anything I’d heard in a long time (felt indescribably amazing to listen to), Fuga: Melodies of Steel should absolutely be on your radar. Just… try not to use the Soul Cannon; yeeting four year olds at enemies does not for a good war strategy make.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel stars anthropomorphic children as they confront the horrors of war in a tank armed with a soul-sucking Super Cannon. It feels like something I never could have anticipated playing, but it works. The characters are likeable, the gameplay is engaging, and I felt genuinely awful when something terrible happened to one of my charges. It's the rare game that comes out of left field and does most things right, and if you're a fan of JRPGs, you'll find a whole lot to enjoy with Fuga. Just … don't use the Soul Cannon, please.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel is a gem of a game. Taking the legacy of its Little Tail Bronx franchise, Fuga goes in a different direction, creating a great combat system and mixing with a captivating lore and story.

Fuga: Memories of Steel is a turn-based strategy game that is unlike any other one I have played. The story is incredibly deep and a lot more serious than you would expect a game with cats and dogs to be. Definitely worth checking out if you like RTS games mixed with RPG elements.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel’s story and gameplay are built around the bond between children, and teach the preciousness of life. The tutorial is well done, and the simple yet tactical battle system is fun to play. It’s too bad that the controls and UI make the game harder to play than it should be.

I have very mixed feelings about Fuga: Melodies of Steel. On the one hand, I’m glad to see that the Little Tail Bronx series still has life in it. On the other hand, this latest entry is largely unimpressive and doesn’t hold a candle to the rollicking good times that Tail Concerto and Solatorobo were. If you are already a Little Tail Bronx die-hard, then you’ve already decided to buy Fuga: Melodies of Steel. If you’re a newcomer, I think you’d have a more enjoyable time with Tail Concerto or Solatorobo.

Solatorobo.

All of their Little Tail Bronx series of games had great stories and lovable characters, but this one finally came with a tight gameplay and nice difficulty to test the player alongside.

    • Beautiful art style.
    • Beautiful and emotional soundtrack.
    • Decent difficulty, it has you thinking of your actions for sure.
    • Lovable characters, just gotta love them and you care for them.

What else is there to say? I'm not gonna spoil the game for you, buy it and see by yourselves.

Don't be fooled by the shame that it was the launch day with bugs on online stores and such, it surely was a pity that it didn't launch without issues, but give CC2 a moment so they could fix issues and give the game a try, it's 100% worth it!!!

I'm pretty fond of Solatorobo: Red the Hunter and when I realized that the game I was playing was from the same universe, I couldn't contain my excitement, It was one of my childhood games and hence, I want this game to be successful so CyberConnect2 can give us another game for next gen consoles!

Regarding to game mechanics, They were pretty okay like any other turn-based game but regarding to the game story and context, It was pretty impactful, They mixed those lovely characters with a harsh enviroment, I mean, they are sending kids to war and you, the player, are given the power to sacrifice their lives in order to one-shot bosses, you will face lots of depressive and sad scenearios, which is nothing like the previous games but personally I liked this new turn of events.

You do eventually finish the game and you're given lots of answer and lore about Little Tail Bronx's world, How the archipielagos were formed, what happened to humanity, etc, You do have to replay the game in order to unlock those archives and it gets overly repetitive, but at least you get to keep all of Taranis'upgrades so you can make progress quickly.

Overall, I did enjoy the game and I did enjoy all the new information, It gives me hope that Little Tail Bronx will get more love in the future!

CC2 really puts a lot of love in their kemono games and it's show as you play it. I sincerely recommend checking it out if you can.

These are literally the worst controls I have ever experienced. I have no idea what they were smoking with the PC version. The first time everThese are literally the worst controls I have ever experienced. I have no idea what they were smoking with the PC version. The first time ever I have to press all the keys from the keyboard to figure out the correct button. It is also extremely repetitive and tedious, and very long for this lack of diversity. I like to finish all games I play, and after 20 hours I'm finding it difficult to do it here. I'm tempted to give it a 0 to even the other paid reviews promoting other games from the same developer (more than half of the reviews so far), but the game is not that bad. Expand
