Apr 18, 2025Forever Skies stuns with its visuals, score, and storytelling—but its true magic lies in the freedom to build and pilot your own airship through a post-apocalyptic sky. It’s thrilling, thoughtful, and wrapped in a tight gameplay loop with real emotional weight. The launch had a few bumps, but with updates on the horizon, this game’s future is nothing but skyward.

Apr 18, 2025Forever Skies is essentially a cozy survival game for anyone who values exploration and a dense atmosphere more than a tough and complex survival experience.

Apr 15, 2025Forever Skies stands as a bold and elegant entry into the survival genre. It doesn’t try to compete with the fast-paced chaos of PvP survival or the crowded silly co-op experiences of similar titles. Instead, it offers something quieter, deeper, and more reflective: a solitary journey through beauty and ruin, driven by discovery and sustained by curiosity. It’s a game that trusts you to take it slow, to get lost, and to find meaning in the silence. For those who love exploration, customizable bases, and stories told through the environment rather than exposition, this is a game that deserves your time. Even if the skies make your knees weak.

May 5, 2025A really satisfying survival game, focused more on fighting the environment than monsters. At times, it doesn't communicate with the player in the best way, but manages to draw you in front of the screen with more inventions and opportunities to expand your flying house.
-
May 7, 2025Forever Skies offers a captivating and imaginative world that invites exploration and discovery. Its survival mechanics are accessible and forgiving, though the combat lacks excitement. Ultimately, the real joy lies in designing and building the most creative, unconventional airborne base you can imagine.

May 2, 2025Forever Skies takes you on a breathtaking journey above a ravaged Earth and down to its toxic surface. Its stunning visuals, paired with an excellent soundtrack, make for a captivating experience. Building your airborne base is both engaging and visually satisfying — and flying it is a real treat. Unfortunately, the story falls a bit flat, and the gameplay loop starts to feel repetitive too soon. The game could really benefit from more inventive mechanics and a greater variety of enemies. Still, it's an enjoyable title that just doesn’t quite live up to the full potential it clearly had.
-
Apr 17, 2025Forever Skies offers a fun narrative survival adventure with a unique spin on how your home base operates. Sadly, its survival mechanics feel unnecessary and its combat is quite boring.
-
Jul 11, 2025Forever Skies offers a relaxing survival experience with a unique atmosphere and an intriguing premise. However, its shallow gameplay loop lacks depth and urgency, making it easy to put down after a short session. While the game has charm, it struggles to stand out in a crowded genre full of similar titles.

May 23, 2025I really wanted to love Forever Skies and I’d hoped that it would recapture the magic I felt when playing Subnautica for the first time. The foibles that I’d been prepared to overlook during Early Access became disappointing features in the final release and to be honest, I walked away wishing that the developer had taken more time to polish the experience. It’s been working hard to squash bugs since release and has promised a content roadmap going forward, so by the time you read this some of the issues I’ve outlined may be addressed. All in all, I did actually enjoy my time with Forever Skies and I recommend checking it out if you like these kinds of games, just don’t do what I did – and temper your expectations going in.
-
May 19, 2025Pleasant to play, Forever Skies is frustratingly short on story, which doesn't quite fit in with the basic upgrade mechanics. The repetitive nature of the locations to explore doesn't help either.

Edge MagazineMay 15, 2025The early hours spent getting to know your airship suggest Forever Skies might soar. Sadly, from there, it struggles to get off the ground. [Issue#411, p.104]
