This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love the FNaF franchise and all of it's games. But the least favorite of them for me is the third game. I think it's the least scariest and Springtrap the new animatronic is very annoying and very hard to escape or lure it away. But i like this game to. Expand

Overall my favourite in the series, due to the atmosphere, nostalgia (as i first played it in the first year of middle school) and Springtrap. Why a 7? Well, even though i really like it, i recognize some of its flaws. As i said, the atmosphere is great, dreadful as many people say. The gameplay though... it's probably my least favorite and less satisfying of all games in the series. Yet again, the game is strategy-friendly, with even less elements of randomness and unpredictability. This removes fear factor. Hell, you can block Springtrap in one room if you correctly play your audios. Audio playing and rebooting is also quite boring.. the fact that you really have to look hard to find Springtrap is cool, as he hides in the dark corners of the rooms. Finding secrets is also a great part of the game, and getting the good ending is satisfying.
Again, i like the game but.... to me it doesn't cost 7.99.

This game was super in a depressing way. My main problem with this game is that ITS NOT SCARY! Springtrap takes the randomness out of the game and Foxy does this well when he isnt even the main antagonist. The jumpscares were well done. But it was the worse compared to its last succesors. It wasnt bad....but not all to good.

For starters you're only chased down by one real animatronic, he makes up for this by being FAR harder to see in the cameras and being much more aggressive overall. For the most part gameplay doesn't consist of figuring out what to do when they are about to kill you, it consists of you slowing down his progress, which requires you to actively watch the cameras, unlike the previous two installments.

The story is as great as always. This game introduces multiple endings (although you will have to jump through a LOT of hoops in order to get to it.) Initially you won't find much difference between the good ending and the bad ending, my advice is search for a bigger meaning behind them ;).
Overall I found it to be a very great and very fun experiencee.

If you're about to try this game out, well, I hope you packed diapers, because FNAF 3 will scare you so badly that you won't be able to get up to take a wee once your character dies. The graphics, I admit, aren't worth worshipping (The result of a one-man developer), but the developer more than made up for that in quality. FNAF 3 is creepier than ever (after all, the game is based in a to-be horror attraction. Ironic, huh?), with new hallucinations that will scare the crud out of you. New strategies like distracting the animatronics with audio playbacks add a sense of challenge to the already creepy atmosphere. And best of all, the developer added animations like an animatronic (or a hallucination) sneaking around in front of your office, which I thought the two previous games desperately needed. This game is the kind of game that teaches corporate jerks blinded by money like EA what a good game looks like - I mean, one man made this entire game, and yet it's still more addicting than FIFA or even Battlefield 4, which was made by many people.

It's a shame that this is the last game in the series. I would have LOVED to see a FNAF 4. Ah well. It's a good conclusion to the series, at least. RIP Five Nights at Freddy's.

Scott did it again with an amazing third game. Although there is only one animatronic, it serves it purpose well. My review is extremely positive because the game terrified me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As much as it pains me to give it a score like this. I didn't like the game.
Okay, for a A FNAF fanbase will freak over this, but let me talk.
It does it's job too well. Like Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation) said, the tension is too much for me.
And i will always freak like a little girl when I get jumpscared.
Although the atmosphere is real good. It's that the amount of tension you get in watching the security cameras and rebooting the systems is enough to make me ignore everything else. Story, phone calls by Phone guy etc.
But again, it's still a good game.
    Now that's just summarizing.
    -
Now let's begin with the actual review.
The game drastically changed it's mechanics by adding the reboot system and one animatronic and the phantom ones, which I usually **** out when one of them gets close to me.
The atmosphere and story is unbelievably good, Scott Cawthon nailed it here.
The visual style and animations are also pretty good, but hey, this guy is an indie developer, not a AAA company. So don't expect top of the line animations and graphics.
The graphics are clean and simplistic, which I like but it's held back by an ugly 4:3 aspect ratio.
    -
But there is the bad stuff.
The game, has too much tension for me. Probably I'm a scaredy-cat but whatever.
If the jumpscares are played right, I would be jumping on my seat and then getting a stick to try and murder my PC. But it's just plain repetitive, which I came to realize with the FNAF games.
This game is basically an endurance test, to see how long you will last until you just **** your pants and quit the game.
    Now onto the story:
You are a new employee at the new Fazbear horror attraction! Your job is to keep the animatronics from murdering you.
There are many minigames that help improve the story and there is the "endings" I put quotation marks there because the endings are complete crap! How am I supposed to figure out that you're supposed to fly away while being Balloon Boy and then giving a dead child cake! Basically a horribly implemented moral choice system but you have to find the choices. Although the Chica choice was fairly easy to do.
The endings. There are three endings, all being portrayed by three very same-ish picture. The bad ending gives you the animatronic heads but with lights on them. Meaning that the dead children aren't laid to rest. Watch the Game Theorists on that. The Neutral ending, I don't really know about this one. And the good ending, where the children finally rest. All these endings didn't really make an impact one me. No emotions. In fact, this is the weakest part of the game.
    -
    Now onto my conclusion.
Five nights at Freddy's 3 is a fantastic sequel to the FNaF series if you're used to the mechanics and tension. But for me, it's too much to bear.
The story is extremely well made except for that really unsatisfying end.
The atmosphere is extremely well made and gives you that creepy vibe like when you're in a nightmare.
Finally, the graphics, they are clean and simplistic but are held back by that ugly 4:3 aspect ratio, and the animations are vastly improved from the first FNaF game that looked worthy of a 90s CD-ROM game.
That is all, hope you like the review.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Scott really succeeded with this game.

We'll start off with the basic gist of it. The whole gameplay instead of being hectic in the later nights instead just really revolves around animatronic. Now there are other animtronics in the form of phantoms that instead of killing you outright just mess with your systems. Now trust me don't mistake that for being harmless, that CAN screw you over and WILL screw you over. However I find that adds to the tension/panic cause **** is just constantly hitting the fan while Springtrap is coming to hunt down your ass.

The game mechanics don't center around thinking of something to do when you're about to get killed. They're about preventing you from getting into that situation in the first place by impeding his progress. You have three systems, cameras which should be self explanatory, ventilation which is the system the phantom animatronics usually shut down when they attack you, if it shuts down you start fainting and the screen starts blinking black which is a perfect chance for springtrap to get you, and at last you have the audio system, this is one of you main defense mechanisms where if you use it in a room that springtrap is near he'll go to the room. Your other defense mechanism is the ability to seal the vents, this is crucial because if you don't and he goes into one he can go through a MASSIVE shortcut.

The story is still pretty baller. The events/story is still told through the atari era and make a return from FNAF 2. It answers the questions on who Springtrap is, who the murderer is, and even the fate of the lost souls of the children who were murdered.

The tension and atmosphere are pretty great in my opinion (although some will disagree.) It's more tense than its predecessors in that instead of the animatronics just jerking off and wandering around this one just more or less ruthlessly hunts you down. It gets tense knowing that it just gets closer and closer. The atmosphere while kind of lacking the charm of its predecessors still is fairly creepy.

In conclusion it's really the best FNAF experience you can get.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Going into FNaF 3 was interesting. It was interesting to have 1 animatronic following you at all costs and having to reboot things is something I've never in a game. However the ending is MEH. I don't go into FNaF looking for story, trust me Game Theory has me covered, not that smike or 8-bit gaming stuff. But this time there's a "moral choice" system, but I put that into quotations because it's not really a moral choice system. Here's how it works: play a list of mini-games in a certain order and get a picture the text "the end" but if you don't do that... you get a slightly altered version of the other picture with the words 'bad ending' on it. But Wikipedia says there's a better ending that those if you play it on a harder difficulty which I chose to believe. Then there's the problem I always have with these FNaF games that almost always gets passed on by the fans of it who defend it using their sh*tty smike videos. This game is fun and a bit more original than the other games... if you leave out how repetitive it gets and the fact that the endings suck major ****s. Expand

This game was deprived of any horror. In fact, it was just so boring playing this. As innovational sitting in a chair clicking camera's are, there is no fun to be had, and totally ruins the little experience and atmosphere to be delivered.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is certainly OK, but does not live up to the standards put in place by Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2. This whole game seems somewhat pointless towards the Five Nights at Freddy's storyline. The gameplay was somewhat repetitive, but very nice overall. This title focuses more on strategy, some examples being using sound to your advantage and the blatant limitations of the technology you have to work with.
The main antagonist here is a new character called Springtrap, a faulty spring-lock suit supposedly with someone stuffed inside, later revealed to be the purple guy. There are other animatronics in this game in the form of the phantoms, ghostly hallucinations of the animatronics from the previous games that will attack if your computers crash, and you have not reset them.
Overall Five Nights at Freddy's 3 was a pleasing title, although somewhat of a departure from the formula that this franchise has set into place and not as scary, fun or interesting then the other games.
A decent game that I would definitely recommend to fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise or horror in general.
