    The characters are very attractive and manage to engage in an intense relationship without even seeing each other.     The soundtrack is amazing. Special thanks to this free-roam mode at the end of the game, which allows you to play with the music you love the most (I have to go with the 'Prologue' one).
    The map is large enough to offer many different scenes and environments without being huge or boring to navigate.
    We can complain about the ending, but it feels like it was premeditated. because there are way more clues than we actually think there is. It is like the more you get into it, the more you invest yourself in the mind-blowing plot.    … Expand

    No es cómo viviste la vida, si no las personas que conoces durante ella. Una historia de el reencuentro contigo mismo en la soledad de un inmenso bosque mientras una voz escucha tu pesar y tu le escuchas a ella. Acompañada de una historia de misterio que termina en algo simple y que fue de lo más débil de este juego. El final es algo que te desilusiona, no por que sea un mal final si noNo es cómo viviste la vida, si no las personas que conoces durante ella. Una historia de el reencuentro contigo mismo en la soledad de un inmenso bosque mientras una voz escucha tu pesar y tu le escuchas a ella. Acompañada de una historia de misterio que termina en algo simple y que fue de lo más débil de este juego.     A short but beautiful indie game where you play as a volunteer fire watcher when suddenly a mystery arises. It's very well told and walking never felt as good. The environment is astoundingly gorgeous and it makes you want to look around every nook and cranny

    What a ride. Starts out as a peaceful walk in the woods, but that doesnt last too long before you are trying to uncover many mysteries and guess who is lying to you. Still not sure what to think of Delilah, but I love that about this game. Keeps you thinking about it, even after you shut it down for the night.

    Отличный визуал, один из самых выдающихся стилей на моей памяти. Хорошая озвучка. Приятный геймплей. Игра проходится быстро, на одном дыхании. Может не совсем дописанная концовка, но каждому своё.

    One of the features that I like is the game doesn't have many gameplay mechanics; which lets you fully dive into the story and don't get distracted by your health or inventory.     Chris Remo, a composer for Firewatch, did an amazing job at creating soundtracks and organizing them to add more tension and relief into your walkthrough. The switches and smooth entrances of each soundtrack can give you goosebumps, and even without looking at the game, you will know when something is about to happen, or you are about to find some clues.

    The graphics of the game are simple yet very complex and well made. The whole designing team did an amazing job translating light and full forest into a video game. I was satisfied to walk through it and enjoy the sound of singing birds and the beauty of the sunset through the leaves of many trees that fill up the game.

    Firewatch has also a great future that I think many games should include, which is Play with Developers. In this mode, you can play the regular story mode, but have little stands with tape stands around the map, where developers talk about how they came up with a certain thing or the general work that went into the specific level. It was interesting to listen to how for example Chris Remo came up with the tracks, or why there are tons of books in the game.

    I recommend buying the game and trying it out yourself. Yes, many people say that the game is short, but it doesn't mean it's bad, just a good mystery story made into a videogame.    … Expand

    The good part: Great and very emotionally deep storytelling. Even with very simple graphics, you are imbued with a hero. Even with a very primitive gameplay, you love every walk in this park. A very interesting thing with a drawing that Delilah did about you.

    The bad part: I really disliked the invisible walls, when you can jump over this log, but you can't do the same with that one. Exactly the same!
    Yes, yes, the entire "gaming World" was divided into those who liked the ending and those who did not... I'm in the middle :)
    I completely understood the plot of this game, and I understand those who say that it is good. Like "The game played with us, as we did with it. All this is a wild surprise from the opposite direction. That what we find at the end is just as cool and emotionally heavy". Yes it is... but it does not change the fact that we do not know a thing about what kind of camp it was behind the fence with all those computers. Why did Delilah not know about it for so many years, although she can see perfectly far from her tower? What was this conversation that we overheard(in case you forgot, it was AFTER the wire was cut)? Why did she almost seduce us the whole game, and in the end everything was cut off - "go to my wife", "I won't wait, I'm leaving now"? Plus, she constantly lied on little things and cheated, judging by the note from the box, which did not add credibility to her leaving in the end.

    I consider myself to be in the middle because I liked the game, I liked the ending, but it also disappointed me. Not because I was waiting for some Hollywood action or like that, but it looked like as if they decided to change the story or end it, leaving something else behind that was given in the middle of the game.    … Expand

    Game was compelling, with a good story, great vibes and good change of pace. Would recommend as gamepass game. Would not have been happy as a $20 purchase as the game was a little short.

    Empecé este juego una noche de diciembre con un buen café caliente y así es como los desarrolladores tienen pensado que juegues a este título, relajado y adentrándose en esta pedazo de historia, ambientación preciosa con toque cartoon y los misterios del bosque se juntan para crear un auténtico Juegazo... Y si os lo preguntáis... Si esa misma noche lo terminé.

    As far as “walking sim” games go Firewatch has been the undisputed king in my eyes for a while and still is. At it’s core it is dependant on the dialogue and interaction between Henry and Delilah and both voice actors blow it out of the water and are fantastic. If this key part were poor it would ruin a lot of the game in my opinion. The music is also well done, especially in that theAs far as “walking sim” games go Firewatch has been the undisputed king in my eyes for a while and still is. If this key part were poor it would ruin a lot of the game in my opinion. The music is also well done, especially in that the developers knew when to use it and when to keep things silent. The game play itself is actually very fun. It is very linear and there isn’t much difficulty but there is some openness to it. For instance where you go is linear but how you get there is all up to you for the most part. If you want to explore the park feel free, and you really should as there is no time limit on any of the missions. The game is the epitome of “comfy”. I love the outdoors and this game includes great vistas; lots of nature; hiking, climbing; just a great time to be had. The one part that was a bit suspect was going down hills because sometimes just by walking up to a small drop it would just climb down the stone while other times it would force me to press a button. The story itself is also well done. There are times where it can get a bit of horror vibes, a bit of sci-fi vibes, and in the end choose a different approach all together. It kept me guessing in a good way.

    I played Firewatch on Linux. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any bugs. There are 6 graphics settings and a v-sync toggle. You can manually save whenever you want and there are also auto saves. There is only one save slot though so you keep overwriting the same file regardless. Alt-Tab didn’t work. The performance was great overall. Like many Unity games that use OpenGL though the GPU usage was all over the map and there were a few drops here and there but they didn’t last more than a few seconds each.

    I really enjoyed my time with Firewatch. I wish more walking sim type games would have as high of presentation values; as good of a story and as good of voice acting. It’s few issues were very small and nowhere near hindered my enjoyment. I paid $24.99 CAD for it and that is easily a steal for the fun I had. I finished the game in 3 hours and 53 minutes proving that quality is greater than quantity. It didn’t feel rushed or dragged out.

    Warmth - that's the word that comes to my mind when I think of Firewatch. You know, this kind of warmth that comes from hands of your grandma which you visit once or twice a year, this warmth that comes from candles on your dinner table on the Christmas night, this warmth that is radiated by the bonfire you and your father made one cold summer night beside a calm river. This "game"...Warmth - that's the word that comes to my mind when I think of Firewatch. You know, this kind of warmth that comes from hands of your grandma which you visit once or twice a year, this warmth that comes from candles on your dinner table on the Christmas night, this warmth that is radiated by the bonfire you and your father made one cold summer night beside a calm river. This "game"... Forgive me but I can't call it "a game". It is not a game - it is an interactive story. So this INTERACTIVE STORY from the very beginning with its visual style, music, setting, even the animation and gameplay makes you feel comfortable, cozy, peaceful. Campo Santo created a beautiful place where you want to come back to after a stressful day and just walk around that dream-like forest...alone. Kind of. You have your colleague: Deliah. This is where the game shines the most - the characters are developed beyond any praise. The dialogues are one of the best in history of videogames. The voice acting is top notch. From the very beginning Deliah feels like a real person and Henry isn't just a character - you become Henry after some time thanks to the great job the creators made in the beginning by introducing Henry's backstory and giving you a chance to play your role in that as well.

    Though it is a story-driven "game" the plot here isn't something phenomenal so don't expect to be blown away by some crazy twist that turns everything upside down. But that what makes it special, in my opinion. In the end of the day you realize that all what happened actually could happen in real life and that makes the whole experience more relatable and believable. I think the goal here was to tell a really grounded story in order to provide the most immersive experience possible even if that experience consists out of just walking and talking to your colleague over radio - I even will go as far as saying that the main focus of the game is on the dialogues and everything else is a backdrop, a driving power for these dialogues and I wouldn't mind to experience the whole story just as an audiobook.

    Conclusion: This game isn't for everyone - this game is for those who are looking for escape from their chaotic and tumultuous lives. In Firewatch you don't fight monsters, you don't seek revenge, you don't try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, you don't save the world - you "watch fire".    … Expand

It sounds boring but somehow you connect with the character. As you walk, Delilah talks to you. A woman with a charming voice. They both have a terrible life full of problems. Stress is your worst enemy. But it is like this. Like life itself. Raw. TheyFirewatch .. the game I wanted to play like no other. What can I say about this game?     It´s cheap and rather short but it was one awesome evening/night playing through it in one go. Wish I could experience it again. The end is kinda meh, but I couldnt think of a better ending. All in all well worth the couple of bucks. Also amazing soundtrack.

    Сюжет в этой игре прост и глубок одновременно. Повествование в начале очень прикольное.
    И так что по самой истории. 1989 год, главный герой по имени Генри после семейных проблем нанимается работать рейнджером в глухие леса Вайоминга, где должен провести всё лето и следить за возникновением пожаров. В лесах за всю игру мы никого не увидим.Единственный с кем мы можем общаться-это Делайла из соседней вышки. Большего, к сожалению сказать не смогу, спойлеры.
    ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ:
    Firewatch это простая бродилка.
    ИТОГИ:
    Прекрасный и интригующий сюжет, красивая и необычная графика, простой геймплей который не мешает следить за историей, в итоге дают нам ЛУЧШУЮ БРОДИЛКУ В ИСТОРИИ.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't like to throw around the "if you didn't enjoy it you didn't get it" bit, but in this case it's quite true.
    A lot of people's big problem is that the story is cut short and the ending isn't satisfying, but most people don't talk about the psychological, philosophical and moral questions the game raises silently. The story is actually absolutely baffling if you pay close attention to it straight from the beginning. As soon as the game establishes the exposition of how Alzheimer's affects Julia and her loved ones you get a sinking feeling in your heart, something is off, and as soon as you reach Two Forks Lookout, just by looking around the abandoned, boarded up tower you start to feel the weight of utter loneliness and guilt that's on Henry. Throughout the game you always feel Henry's paranoia and self-condemnation, this is basically the game's way of talking about human instincts, behavior and processing something hard. Pulling through a low point in your life and moving on, that's what Henry's story is about. There is also a story of two strangers, who ended up in the middle of nowhere, Delilah is well established in her job of being a firewatch lookout, while Henry is left quite a predicament where he has to pick up the pieces his predecessor left behind and do his job right, all the while Delilah is there on the other end of a radio, always of help. This is a story of how even in a miserable and uncertain situation you can find the right people and through hardships you can always rely on them. The story follows them as they grow closer, to the point where they can only trust each other to get through the hellish horror that is the constant preying pair of eyes watching them and the possible murder plot they accidentally uncover.
    The game's story is quite interesting as well, all the way through you feel something watching you, even when the branches rustle in the wind it feels like someone or something is near. There are points during the rising action when everything feels like a supernatural conspiracy, Henry even questions if any of it is real, even if Delilah is real. Henry is disoriented and in distress. The climax comes when you open cave 452's restricted section, somebody tries to lock the door behind you, you delve deeper into the cave and find Brian Goodwin's body. Your heart is beating, you feel the weight of the truth, though it is hard to embrace and some parts of it stay in the dark, some things you just don't want to know the truth behind... The resolution of the story is also quite unconventional, as you don't get to meet Delilah, after all the build up you only get to exchange some heartfelt words with her about the future, which is the continuation of both of their stories, the short dialogue is quite deep and resolves both their stories even if it doesn't seem like much on the surface. Then with the fire raging around the lookout Henry leaves Ol' Shoshone behind. This is an allegory of how his past is burning up, how he is moving on, he is forced to leave his past behind even if he loves it, he is drawn to it. The morality of the cover-up of Brian Goodwin's death, Henry moving on, Delilah's actions and Ned's actions is completely up to the player's interpretation.

    It's really short, the gameplay is almost absent and the graphic is normal.
    But i'm fall in love for this game, the musics, Henry(or maybe I would say Hank), Delilah's voice, the sounds, this huge national park where we are capulted by the game... Maybe the final could be better but anyway it's okay.
    For two/three days after i finished the game I was sorry to have finished it. :)

    Firewatch is hands down the best, the most engaging first person walker I have ever played. Something doesn’t let me rate it higher though, and I guess it’s my common sense. [04/2016, p.50]

    This unconventional game combines strong story, beautiful natural surroundings and fantastically written and played characters. What it lacks in classic adventure mechanics, it makes up in great dialogue system between the main protagonists. [Issue#262]
