Graphics are very good and game play is fine for this kind of story driven game. Story is good but because game is too short story development gets very thin. Biggest complaint is simply game length. This can be played trough in couple of hours.

Fun game but going nowhere.
The story is good, a little bit bland but it is not supposed to be too dramatic. I like how the story unfolds and all, but the whole storyline is a bit too short. I just felt a bit familiar with Delilah and the whole area and the story ends. But well, if you think of it as a 3-4 hour movie, it is good enough.

A nice story let down by a rather rushed and disappointing ending.
The voice acting is incredible and the relationship between Henry and Delilah is written perfectly, it's just hard to shake the feeling of being let down by all the suspense being thrown away by a meek conclusion.

I've been following Sean's work since TWD game season one, firewatch wasn't good as I thought it'd be I think everything about the game was awesome except plot it starts good but doesn't end well enough

I found the game to be a bit of a let down. I've played a lot of story-driven walking simulators and while Firewatch does a lot right, it didn't deliver where it counted.

I found the game to be a bit of a let down. I've played a lot of story-driven walking simulators and while Firewatch does a lot right, it didn't deliver where it counted.

    Let's start with the positives:

The game runs well with only a few minor textural and sound issues that were easily ignored; no impact the gameplay. Controls are smooth and default keybinds are intuitive.

There is a LOT of stuff to interact with; a typical issue with many walking sims is that you are hunting for the one thing you can interact with to progress the story. Firewatch gives you plenty of buttons to push and items to use; you'll always feel engaged.

    For the negatives:

I was not a fan of the art style. This is a personal preference of course, but I found the color palette exhausting. It is not "cartoony" per se, but just a little too cel-shady for me. Took away from the experience. Same goes for the score; it was just lame. There was not a lot of music throughout the game, but what did pop up added nothing to my experience. The art style and music also felt counter to the lonely feeling the game was seemingly trying to create.

The art style did not help another issue I had: navigating the world. Once you play it a while you start to memorize paths and whatnot, but constantly pulling out the map and compass was laborious and detracted from the experience; added unnecessary difficulty to traveling.

However the biggest was that I felt like the ending was just... boring. That's all I say to not give anything away. Now, don't get me wrong, most of the game has a very engaging story, but that engaging story was let down by an ending that was just sort of whatever.

Overall, it is not a bad game and if you enjoy the art style then its probably worth picking up. It won't be for everybody, but for some I imagine it will hit the spot.

Good game, good graphics, cool story. Only 2 endings without any differences at all (it was bad). Really 7/10

Firewatch is hands down the best, the most engaging first person walker I have ever played. Something doesn’t let me rate it higher though, and I guess it’s my common sense. [04/2016, p.50]

The look of this game is nothing short of stunning… Each detail is carefully designed and thought out with a charming feel to it overall.

This unconventional game combines strong story, beautiful natural surroundings and fantastically written and played characters. What it lacks in classic adventure mechanics, it makes up in great dialogue system between the main protagonists. [Issue#262]
