A complete package, with all DLC packed in, Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition lives up to its name. The performance on a wide variety of hardware speaks to a lot of optimization work, and mods make the skies the limit. This is the ultimate way to experience this fantastic entry to the series.

Though Final Fantasy XVI departs from the franchise formula, it still maintains so much of what makes Final Fantasy such a beloved franchise. It has easily become one of my new favorite entries in the series. The game does its own thing, and while I do miss some classic Final Fantasy RPG elements, I certainly enjoy the cinematic action Final Fantasy XVI has to offer.

Final Fantasy XVI from Square Enix is a marvelous experience that brings strong characters, a passionate and fiery revenge-driven story, and simplistic action that is just as easy to pick up and go. It’s one of the best Final Fantasy games in the series, and certainly a solid option for PC gamers.

Final Fantasy XVI is phenomenal if you enjoy action RPGs, especially if you appreciate well-written stories that build upon themselves, teeming with memorable characters and poignantly emotional moments. I’m glad I finally got to play it in its entirety, even if it wasn’t remotely close to its recommended specs. The final boss fight and ending scenes left me with so many feelings, and those on the fence about Final Fantasy XVI for any reason should at least give the game a chance. Like me, they might find a hidden gem underneath.

While not everyone agrees that Final Fantasy XVI is the best entry in the series, it was certainly one of the standout games of 2023. With its absorbing narrative, memorable characters, great acting, and engaging real-time action combat, Final Fantasy XVI brings to the PC a thrilling experience that does nothing but improve an already stellar game.

The PC release of Final Fantasy 16 is fantastic, with decent performance and stable frame rates. The fact that it also manages to be a fun action game in its own rights also helps.

Final Fantasy XVI is a game that has proven to be a return to form for the series. The quality of the graphics and sound are impressive, the gameplay is very entertaining, as well as an engaging combat system and sufficient length. However, it is important to note that the game requires a relatively high hardware configuration to run properly.

Final Fantasy XVI is a return to form for the long-running franchise. An excellent game that sadly has some performance quirks that need to be addressed to fully realise its potential.

Borrowing a lot from its Western counterparts, Final Fantasy XVI moves away from the series' classical approach to RPG and edges toward action. It seems that the series' future will also move in the same direction. If you judge FFXVI on its own merits, you will have a great time with it, but if you rather cling to the past and expect more of the same, you might be disappointed.

A fun action RPG and a good introduction to Final Fantasy, just as long as you have a beefy system to run it.
  11. Final Fantasy XVI, which follows a different path from the series' usual path, has been properly ported to the PC platform and made available to more players, and we recommend it with peace of mind.

Giving a judgment on the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is complicated: on one hand, we confirm the impressions provided in the review of the PlayStation 5 version, but on the other hand, one cannot ignore a conversion that (at least until the release of patches) does not convince due to the excessive hardware requirements.

Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition is easily the definitive way to experience Square's latest epic for those who can push the game to its limits on PC.

The PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is very demanding, with mid-range computers being the worst affected. But if you have a PC with high specs, this is without a doubt the best way to play Square Enix's action title.

Final Fantasy XVI feels right at home on PC. With excellent optimisation that’s bolstered by impressive Frame Generation technology, it’s a relatively smooth sailing experience if you have the hardware to handle it. Some oversights include a lack of ultrawide support and a locked 30fps frame rate in cutscenes, but these can easily be modded out with a few simple file tweaks. It’s a damning shame that these fixes aren’t included by default, but if you’re willing to do a bit of tinkering, this epic fantasy RPG should certainly be one you aim to play on PC.

Perhaps a bit too divergent from the Final Fantasy formula, but rich characters and spectacular combat still make it an impressive sequel.

While FFXVI is a fully functioning PC Port without any glaring technical issues, it is a very basic one that misses a lot of the features that PC gamers have come to expect. It is hard not to be disappointed with what could have been a technical showpiece but is instead just acceptable.

Overall I’d reckon that Final Fantasy XVI’s PC port IS a good one, albeit with the caveats that it has some beefy requirements to run at higher frame rates and resolutions. It’s a phenomenal game that is now available to a wider audience, so I’d highly recommend checking it out if you’ve got the hardware. Otherwise, if you’re on a bit older hardware (such as myself) from early 2020 or before, I’d definitely recommend holding off and getting upgrades first, or deal with reduced visual quality, resolution, and framerates. I for one wouldn’t want to buy the game to have to play at 720p for 30fps in 2024. Final Fantasy XVI is definitely a great game and a great port if you’ve got the hardware to run it, though I do wish it ran better on slightly older hardware.

Final Fantasy XVI on PC comes with many improvements compared to the original version. However, this performance issue makes the experience disappointing, especially for those who do not know how to manually adjust the graphic settings. DLSS is useless because it's hard to achieve a stable 60 FPS. The original game is really good, but the experience on PC change your mind. Playing with a mouse and keyboard can be a challenge during the first few hours.

Despite still being a solid game, Final Fantasy 16's PC port is... complicated. With a good enough PC, it's easy to hit 150+ average FPS, yet, it's an inconsistent experience that usually dips in framerate wherever you least expect it. It's also missing some key features for PC gamers, like high refresh rate cutscenes and ultrawide resolutions. Luckily, these can be modded.
  2. It's a lavishly made and occasionally engrossing epic, definitely a game you'll relish more if, unlike the average reviewer, you can afford to take your time. But it doesn't have the wackiness and starpower of its most obvious rivals, the Final Fantasy 7 remakes. Its major characters would be bit-parts in Midgar, filling out the crowd at Seventh Heaven. Jill is the lady by the jukebox trying not to get mistaken for a mop. Cid makes for a captivating presence behind the bar, but he's clocking off early tonight. And Clive? Clive is that woebegone regular who's sort of a hit with the ladies but who insists on telling everybody about his domestic quarrels and who just won't sodding leave.
