Fight Crab is weird, wild, and fun as hell. It's a game purely focused on delivering charming and silly moments, and that chaotic, no-rules atmosphere leads to hours of hilarious crustacean combat. The game could have easily been an unpredictable, button-mashing physics mess, but the fact that there are legitimate layers of executable strategy to the combat makes it a thrilling challenge to boot. Even if you don't like crabs, Fight Crab will easily convert you into a claw-believer.

With a wide variety of crabs and weapons, and with each crab's claws controlled in detail with the analog sticks, Crab Fighter delivers a surprisingly deep battle experience. It’s great fun to play with friends, and the campaign mode offers plenty of satisfaction. However, the game is not balanced well enough for more serious competition, and online fights will be difficult to get into for newcomers.

Fight Crab is not going to appear at the next big esports competition, but any casual competitors are sure to have a ball. With a novel control scheme that's easy to learn and gameplay that's impossible to take to seriously, it will certainly find a home with variety streamers and those looking for a new game to play with friends. Any faults it does have are part of the charm, evoking an independent spirit that's hard not to root for.

I really like Fight Crab. It’s something different and I hope the absurd nature of the concept attracts players. I think the somewhat wonky physics mixed with the desire to consistently up the ante throughout the campaign made me excited to see what was in store come the next level in the campaign. I hope maybe some DLC will come to add some more levels and items to make this game even crazier, because as of right now it’s a fairly light package as a single player experience, but I can imagine that this would be a great game to pull out with friends over. Fight Crab is something very different and I hope it pays off for Calappa Games.

Fight Crab is a wacky, fun game. While it doesn't have much depth, the sheer silliness of it will keep you entertained for an afternoon. It does support multiplayer, and I found it to be a lot more fun when teamed up with my son. With easy to learn controls, and fast paced battle, you can't help but love Fight Crab.

  1. Much like crabs themselves, I am tremendously glad this game exists, but it’s something I’d rather appreciate at a distance.

What I’m saying is that Fight Crab gets my vote as the next big esport. It doesn’t have much content, it isn’t very polished, and it’s about crabs. But it’d certainly make a change from all the hero shooters.

This game is far deeper than it has any right to be. It is possible to play and have a good time with button mashing, but I have found thatThis game is far deeper than it has any right to be. It is possible to play and have a good time with button mashing, but I have found that the 20+ different crabs, the hyper powers, the mega variety of weapons, and the wacky stages give me something that I can really sink my teeth into. The controls are obtuse, but make sense in the long run. Full Review »
