A truly spectacular soccer title with exceptional player animations, ball handling and gameplay to boot. The AI will provide a significant challenge, but the implementation of one of the most advanced and complete online modes will mean that this game will truly last you a long time.
-
More realistic and a better atmosphere than ever – definitely the best FIFA-game up to date.
-
What a comeback! Finally the FIFA series has overcome its form crisis and is celebrating modern football (soccer) again, both graphically and gameplay wise. Not everything is new, but most things look better. Pro Evolution Soccer may be the better simulation, but the fast action of FIFA 09 is just as much fun. EA Sports is back in the top league.
-
PC FormatA far more tactical FIFA than we've seen before, though sorely lacking the 360's impressive new online mode. [Dec 2008, p.96]
-
Pelit (Finland)Probably the best PC-version in the series so far. The game looks great and new animations add freshness to the gameplay. Mouse and keyboard control is a nice addition, although it is a bit clumsy in action. There are also some problems with joypad and keyboard controls. [Sept 2008]
-
FIFA continues its improvements with 09, probably its best entry in the last years. Traditionally the soccer saga of EA was well-known by its quality in the licenses and by the brutal amount of official championships, now its also known by its gameplay, that continues its slow progress in PC.
-
PC FIFA fans have wanted a little more effort put into their version for years and finally the moaning and commitment to the series has paid off. FIFA 09 is the best FIFA the PC has seen in years and a great step forward for the series on the platform.
-
The PC version has clearly improved over the previous editions, but still lacks the luxury of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
-
Play (Poland)It's the best iteration in many years, and certainly the most sophisticated. Even if the newfangled mouse control mode isn't to your liking, you'll find that the game has been strengthened at its core and raised to a new level of quality. [Oct 2008]
-
Total PC GamingA good performance from EA, with FIFA playing a fine game of footy. [Issue#13, p.58]
-
Gamers.atFIFA 09 for PC has blown the personal bar I’ve set out of the water – but not in terms of presentation and complexity of the comments thrown about during a game. [Issue # 16]
-
PC Zone UKNot PC friendly. [Dec 2008, p.75]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)New control system, player animations and defense play make this game feel more real but it’s still far behind all other console versions. Mouse controls are surprisingly cool. [Nov 2008]
-
PC Gamer UKIt's Product Football. And in that order. Maybe next year, eh? [Christmas 2008, p.70]
-
PC PowerPlayWhere it all falls down is in the core game. The reality is that this is more or less the same FIFA we've had for the last couple of years. While all of PC FIFA's console brethren have married and moved into nice engines, our favourite platform is left with the gaming equivalent of a washed out, beaten up trailer. [Christmas 2008, p.81]
