While the effort to imitate the best elements of Winning Eleven is obvious, EA does its own fair share of innovation with some great long-pall passing, jostling and the Interactive Leagues feature.
  2. Not all of the changes that have been implemented since last year's game have been for the better, but there are more than enough improvements here to make FIFA 07 worth a look.

An intelligent, realistic, absorbing simulation of football. [Dec 2006, p.98]
  4. The multiplayer clearly deserves the admission price.

Make no mistake, this is the best version of FIFA ever and maybe even the most fun-to-play arcade footie game ever. [Christmas 2006, p.97]
  6. The tweaks to the existing feature set and gameplay have certainly raised its game and will make you feel like you are close to experiencing a real football match.
  7. FIFA 07 might impress at first, but if you stick with it, you'll realize some fundamental things about the game of football are still eluding the developers in their efforts to make a good game.
  8. "Pro Evolution Soccer" still reigns supreme. FIFA 07 most definitely beats PES in a few areas, most notably in presentation and the brilliant first-touch control, but it's still not "PES."
  9. Better realism gives you far better challenges and when coupled with the graphics and fantastic audio it makes the ‘beautiful game’ into a beautiful game.

This is no mere cash-in update to appease gamers with little knowledge of what makes a decent game.

A sizeable leap forward for the series. It's still a few key AI tweaks away from challenging Winning Eleven for the arcade soccer crown, but at least EA's game is back in the conversation.
  12. A patch or two will likely address most small issues, and if online isn't your thing then you're good to go out of the box.

FIFA 07 is still entertaining, but it's about as workaday as it gets. It goes through the motions of offering team updates and a smattering of new features, but fails to address core problems or significantly innovate in its approach to football. [Nov 2006, p.96]
  14. It’s just a massive disappointment that EA has decided not to update the PC title to the Xbox 360 engine, leaving that until next year at the earliest.
  15. Convincing physics have been brought into play to improve the feel of passing, crossing and shooting - a feature that brings FIFA more in line with the current simulation champ, "Pro Evolution Soccer."

There just isn't enough new here to make FIFA 07 a worthwhile purchase. [Jan. 2007, p.63]
