Fate/Samurai Remnant is an incredibly impressive game with lots to offer both Fate and Musou fans. While it has its drawbacks, it still sports a compelling narrative, incredibly fun gameplay, great lore, and much more.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is an all-around great game, and I can only hope we see more fantastic collaborations like this from Type-Moon and Omega Force. My imagination is already running wild as I consider what this duo might achieve with a Fate game focused on heroes such as Jeanne d’Arc, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Fans of Fate, action RPGs, samurai games, or Japanese history in general should give Fate/Samurai Remnant a look. It’s well worth the time and serves as a rewarding experience through and through.

Despite its few shortcomings, Fate/Samurai Remnant is a great addition to the Fate media empire that can be enjoyed by hardcore Fate fans and newcomers alike.

All in all, Fate/Samurai Remnant is a great exploration of the weight of history, the price of a wish, and how much a person can be willing to sacrifice for their dreams before they become a monster. I just wish the camera didn’t hate my guts and there were a few less QTEs waiting to ambush me.

A new Fate, a new era, fresh gameplay, but familiar concepts. The epic story, as if borrowed directly from an anime, is enhanced by outstanding music and voice acting. It's regrettable that the boss battles lack depth, and encounters with standard enemies could be shorter. Nevertheless, Fate/Samurai Remnant does justice to its renowned name.

Whether you’re a Type-Moon follower with Saber wallpaper on your phone or just someone who appreciate virtual tourism, Fate/Samurai Remnant’s journey to Keian-Era Japan will delight. There’s a storyline that doesn’t assume familiarity with previous works that erupts in regular doses of intense, action-driven combat. But of all, the writing is a cut above any previous works set in the Fate multiverse.

It’s more comparable to Persona 5 Strikers than, say, Hyrule Warriors.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a great RPG, but could target a better status with some more tweaks, including doing something about its lack of localization.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a great muse with hack and slash elements. It has a compelling story, a frantic combat system and a beautiful art style. If the genre is among your favorites, it's going to be a feudal Japan themed blast.

Fate/Samurai Remnant has a range of combat mechanics that lead to intense and enjoyable combat, and features a cool story at its heart.

By setting the story in real life and in a time period that most players are familiar with, Fate/Samurai Remnant presents its fantastical plot in a grounded reality. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table in terms of gameplay or story. But when you’re making a musou game based on an IP with an established setting and lore, simplicity is the best answer. Even though I finished the game, I’m still looking forward to seeing Iori and the others in future DLC, and hopefully, in Grand Order.

Slightly underwhelming combat aside, it is a pretty small blemish on the face of a work that might be the best Fate game to emerge in a long while. By reframing the core context of a Holy Grail War and establishing it in a new setting and with a new, fresh cast of characters, Fate/Samurai Remnant manages to grasp and elevate the fundamentals of the Fate series in a way that makes it all approachable, while not skimping on fan service for those who’ve stuck with Fate all this time.

Not without its clear flaws but good enough to follow Iori and Saber's long story all the way to the end.
