Story: A bunch high school kids dressed up like clowns and acting like they are high on something are trying to overthrow a dictator. Hillarious.

Seriously Ubisoft, was the character design done by some teenie intern?!

I'd like to say something about the game but at this quality upon release it's simply unplayable. It's a sign of the times that programmers simply don't give a damn about game optimization before the release and just dump it all on the hardware - causing glitches and subpar quality even on high-end PCs.

The game demands 12GB of VRAM to handle HD textures. Nowhere before the release has Ubisoft mentioned it as a requirement, not even for 4k gaming in Ultra. It also hasn't mentioned that if you don't own the suitable hardware the game will look like it belongs in a different age - and not one in the future but rather somewhere around mid-2000s.

What transpires is a whole mountain of bugs on high-end GPUs - like, lo and behold, Nvidia's RTX 3080, 3070 or 3060Ti. Was it a deliberate attempt to nerf the game on NV cards, as Ubisoft works with AMD? No idea, but it sure has made it look like it's 2005 again.

(Although some people are reporting similar issues even without the HD pack).

Not that poor resolution makes performance any better. The game looks worse than, actually, any of the past three FC games - but runs at lower FPS than they do.

With 5600x, RTX 3080 and 64GB of RAM you can get 50-60fps in 4k - a drop of 50-60% vs. FarCry 5, which clocked around 80 to 100fps and looked better than FC6 does. It also suffers from occasional lags and drops in performance, regardless of what's going on on the screen - and not even taxing the hardware, as my temps and fan speeds are all normal. Out of the blue it drops to 10fps, adding to already poor first impressions.

You're getting a terrible performance hit without any demonstrable benefits in visual quality - and it many ways the game actually looks worse, even when it runs at decent speeds.

Some bugs could be excused, of course, as games typically encounter hiccups upon release - but here we're not talking about a ground-breaking new game (like Cyberpunk) but a title that is a fourth installment in 10 years and has inherited much of the previous games' mechanics and even graphics.

When running around the tropical landscapes does it really feel all that markedly different from even FarCry 3 launched in 2012? Not to me. I don't see a decade of game development in this title. Instead, it looks like a cheap, half-baked, rushed knock-off released to milk the franchise that millions will quickly snap up just because of the name.

I might update my review when - and if - the performance is optimized and all of the glitches are fixed. But at this point there's just too many of them for an enjoyable gaming experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So you want to Hear another story Eh? One where the very fate of Far cry 6 hangs in the balance? If not - Too bad im telling you anyways

To start out with i will cover the launch loosely, The Launch was terrible, There were crashes, glitches, bugs and unplayability all around, Textures werent loading in, the game had severe visual downgrades all around (and still does) things would look straight out of PS3 launch titles and LOD errors making buildings load in as colored blocks less than 300 meters away, so scouting with your Binoc/Camera was impossible (this is after the launch of both Ghost recon games where you could snipe for over a kilometer away in a detailed environment). And guess who Ubisoft blamed this on US, THE CONSUMERS, they blamed our hardware which included anything form old stable hardware to the newest top pf the line stuff which i have experienced both of, both a 1070 and a 3080

Now to the meat of the game

    - The game plays like ass, its boring to Experience, Mechanically scalped and stripped to the bone. Hunting animals have been reduced to just not creating bullet holes in your target and walking over them, coming from playing Dying light the movement is so restrictive and slugish, you can just run, walk and crouch with the capaility to climb 3 feet ledges (doesnt always work) or just slightly above your head (doesnt always work either), Flying feels bad and like its fighting you and swimming is dreadful
    - Gun play is boring and stealth is just not properly possible. You get the most consistent gun as the 3rd in the game and you will never feel all that challenged, put a supressor on it and you are set, just walk in and i mean that just walk in and take out one by one with enough eye to hand coordination you wont even be spotted this is aided by the AI
    - AI literally feels like its 20 years old, its actually worse than Far Cry 3's. The AI doesnt react to **** they have the same reaction to a dead body that IRL people have to seeing something in the street realising its uninteresting and just walking on and friendly characters just walk into ****
    - Enemies and NPC handling is awful. Enemies are just randomly strewn across every inch of the map and spawn back in as soon as you turn your back and move 5 meters... its breaks all immersion when i can run into 80 different patrols in the span of 8 minute having ran in circles in an area the size of a literal soccer field, Breakpoint a mediocre title atleast had corpse and enemy continuity even for literal kilometers of in game terrain, but here corpses just vanish and enemies will just spawn in randomly more than 50 meters away so you can move in and out of a spawn area and then meet a car, a hostage 2 horses or 3 guards with no care for continuity and since Ubisoft removed all animal and wild danger this was their solution lazily force spawning in basic enemies to fill the NPC vacuum, and the games god awful entity render distance even on Top tier hardware, it makes it even worse that you can just see vehicles phase in and out of existance down the street
    - The game is damn **** easy as you get the most consistant weapon as the 3rd weapon and the game doesnt pose any challenge unless you literally sit back and fall half asleep
    - Its still dickriding Vaas 9 year and 4-5 entries later
    - The story is executed terribly with little to no nuance or care for what its relating to, being the South American nations the US threw into conflict over political disagreement with, like calling everything Communist back in the day. The story of cyclical continual conflict in this Gorilla vs State world was much better done in Far cry 4 the story doesnt care for pacing or being interesting same goes for mission design which is just CTRL + C - CTRL V all over. the characters are MAJORILY unlikeable, their motivations are bland, undercooked and underseasoned LIKE WHY TF DO I HAVE TO RESCUE SOMEONES TOP SURGERY SURGEON WHEN IM FIGHTING A WAR? and the entire plan of the resistance is to just throw the country into anarchistic chaos cause they have no plan, all you do is doom this nation by completely destroying their infastructure and destroying their export being most effective cure for cancer the world has ever seen instead of just making it ethical to produce and they just let villains go and ilogically escape multiple times. this game is just an unironic totally serious attempt at the mindless numbskulled Twitter liberal **** the government, defund destroy, anarchy, communism mindset" that would just throw the US into chaos
    - The game visually has aged worse in 2 months than Dying light has in 6 years, Like ffs Ubisoft blood is still this Bright red plastic playdough bull**** thats just stretching and distorting with movement, ontop of No environmental effects that even Rockstar did in Red Dead Redemption 2 and they havent made something new in 7 years, i think Tombraider from 2015 had environmental effects like mud and wetness clinging to you

The loot and gun modification system is also extremely lacking, as there's hardly any point to any of it.... equipping shock rounds in an assault rifle will allow you to pretty much kill any enemy (including bosses, which are just more fodder just with a different color) by shooting it in the head once or twice at most and from any range.

Which leads me to the games biggest problem... the lack of difficulty. There's absolutely no challenge to the game as there's no punishment in dying, though there's honestly very little chance in that happening when the AI is beyond terrible.

The game desperately needs a difficulty setting, as the game is pretty much a driving, walking and target practice sim.

It feels like the game is designed for kids or people who have never played an fps before. There's zero challenge, and you will be just doing the same thing over and over and over again.

So very disappointing. Ubi need a huge rethink for farcry 7.

The game’s only worthwhile “side quests” are the enemy outposts that are fun to take down stealthily or guns blazing. But after the first couple, that even starts to feel bland. Guns and the whole “workbench” system feel like a complete miss. It wants you to be careful in your loadout selection but does so in such a lazy manner. They make certain enemies vulnerable to certain ammo types, so you’ll have to carry 2-3 different weapons to deal with a standard outpost because you can’t switch ammo types on the go. A boring system that just feels more clunky than innovative. The environment is gorgeous and graphics look great. In terms of aesthetics, Far Cry 6 delivers one of the best looking game worlds in a far cry game. This is the game’s only saving grace, however.

Characters are among the worst I have ever seen in a triple A title. Juan Cortez starts out interesting but is repressed by the abundance of all the woke, giddy, cartoonish characters littered all over the game. Dani (both the male and female roles) are utterly forgettable. Giancarlo Esposito’s character is fantastic but like recent entry’s in the Far Cry series, he is woefully underutilized. Story isn’t even worth discussing. Forgettable and tries to be serious despite the LGBT, politically correct cast. Seriously, how are we supposed to care about a world where a character’s relationship problems are treated (almost) as big as the main story? This appeal to being accepted by woke fanbases instead of writing a genuinely good story is nauseating. In multiple instances of dialogue, Clara and Dani go out of their way to **** on capitalism… IN A COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP?! Are the writers immune to self awareness?

This game is devoid of anything remotely engaging and only seeks to cash in on the Far Cry namesake while jamming woke leftist garbage down your throat. Another treasured series trashed by Ubisoft (see Assassins Creed & Ghost Recon).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know how at the first hour of game-play you're really captivated by every little detail you see?
This game really captivated me for a long time, I loved the small immersive things like having Boom Boom ride in the car with you and the way every vehicle was detailed. There's countless good mechanics and details in this game and the story is good too. But around 85% of the story missions are ok and it lost me where it mattered most. When some of the first characters we grow close to died, I had hope for the future relationships of the other people. The ones who survived were the ones in my opinion, with the least fire. Seeing the last moments so serious and grim only to be met with the character's lack of genuine emotion and contemplation really made the game just a grab and go experience near the end.
Juan never was reacted to properly by Dani and the last few cut-scenes felt awkward and hopeless. It was all for nothing and instead of 100% the game in the end, I got off immediately . There was nothing to fight or play for, the immersive elements of the game had no meaning, the game lost my heart and attention due to the following.
Castillo became ugly and weak and no longer had any weight to him, I noticed the weight moving towards the son. He lost his edge and there was no other boss that I could take seriously. There was no depth or reasoning, no debate or questioning behind the motives. Just a copy paste personality or goal for the bad guys. The only one that I felt intrigued and ready to learn more about was the one the son killed and we never even said hardly a sentence to. The threat and drive was diminishing and the meaning of the game began to become apparent that I would not have what I expect play out or fulfilled.
The weight of our character's relationships were so heavy and there was so much loss experienced. The relationships that were there did not get the immersive or well played out moments that could have redeemed some of the meaning during the game's story arch. When the first fireworks launched in the game and the celebration commenced. I could feel that this was the peak of the game, gaining might and celebrating victory. When the consequences rang out, the meaning needed a greater feel but instead I could feel the game thin out. Dani stopped developing and I was no longer caring about the details or the world I was in. Yara was just this disappointing bittersweet place.
When Far Cry 2 came out, some of the most captivating moments were the immersive car rides and the U.I being more directed to feel your player and the experience the gameplay could dish out. Far Cry 6 did this but I don't think it did on purpose, it was an incredibly enjoyable 50 hours worth of gameplay but that last hour just made me know I would not want to return and that maybe the secret ending felt the best.
Clara's death was so small and frustrating as Dani's peak was not there, he was a whelp and Juan never had the consequences nearly as much as we felt throughout the story. So many moments with my character's outfit and skill being terrifying and a force of nature but the dialogue was the opposite. I no longer felt the forward drive of the games plot with the lack of that role playing element. What's the point if everyone just dies that matters and the relationships that are still around are lacking depth and interaction they need...Even the kid at the very last moment?...
Come on... If Yara isn't a beautiful in depth place with something to fight for, then what the hell did I spent 50 hours for? Castilio became weak and would have died no matter what and the bloodline never mattered and the research and plot and ethics never mattered and it is fundamental to world building and it breaks down mechanical elements like gameplay and immersion.
It was the potential 9.5/10 but it became a 3/10. Worth my money and time though because the design, sound, gameplay and optimization was outstanding. Outstanding work and world building but it felt like the ball got dropped when it mattered the most.

The flyer for the revolutionaries was written so stupidly it gave me cancer. Everything is cringy all the time. Far Cry 6 is about Cuba, but they changed the name of the island and kept everything else about Cuba. In this game, Castro was a massmurdering dictator like Hitler and you're reminded about it constantly. He talks in speakers all the time like in Just Cause, which was 100 million times better game, at least Just Cause was PLAYABLE, Far Cry 6 is not. Just Cause was FUNNY, Far Cry 6 is depressing, pretentious and broken. The game starts with a guy getting murdered by the evil communist troops in the streets, because the writers were 12 year olds who think of communism and leftist politics the same way Reagen did. Then your friend in the game throws a bottle at the troops because he wanted to get shot, you know, he shouted to them "please kill me now because I'm stupid and thought I'd attack you with a bottle after you just killed a guy in cold blood and at which point you obviously would kill any witnesses you'd be made aware of, which I just did by shouting at you and throw a bottle without making any attempt to escape having done it", that's just such amazing Oscar-level writing! OMG! SO REALISTIC! WHAT STUPID **** IDIOTS MADE THIS GAME HOW THE **** HELL DID THEY GET A **** JOB ANYWHERE!!!!! The action gameplay is JUST AS BAD. Games made 15 years ago was more realistic than this. Far Cry 6 was a planned ripoff of a well-known franchise to sell tons of games to kids from 3 to 7. You can't skip most cutscenes, the #1 hallmark of the worst games in history. There is no difficulty setting. There is just "baby mode", which they call "story mode", because God forbid having to spend more hours on this SCAM of a game than necessary. Not to mention different difficulty levels would CONFUSE THE 3 to 7 YEAR OLD KIDS. The example picture when you change graphics settings doesn't change when you change quality. At all. When you turn toward the setting sun and the other direction, the screen goes from pitch dark to super bright. This game is completely broken, they didn't even try to finish it, on top of it being A SCAM. NO ONE who worked on Far Cry 5 worked on Far Cry 6. Expand

Far Cry finally got rid of the most annoying bits (like the infamous towers), but that’s pretty much the extent of the series’ progress. Far Cry 6 doesn’t improve on the core concept in any way. Still, all the expected mechanics work as advertised and keep the game above the line.

Far Cry 6 is a work that strives for progress while maintaining stability. There are ancestral gameplays of the series that have not been outdated, and some system optimizations and improvements that keep pace with the times. In general, it is still a familiar formula and a familiar taste.

Yes, Far Cry 6 is the accumulated chemical detritus from years of similar lab experiments, layered and stratified, compounded with time and pressure. But it isn’t a catalyst. I am. I played Far Cry 6 to completion: I pressed buttons to shoot guns and progress the plot; I killed an inordinate number of animals to buy upgrades; I equipped new pairs of pants to make myself stealthier. And at the end of it all, I felt nothing. I was unchanged by the experience.
