Fallout 4 is rubbish, so I thought why don't I drop back and give a score to one of the best game ever made in the rubbish creation engine. Anyway the game is awesome, if you like obsidian you will like this game, if you like Fallout 1,2 you will like it. If you like actual RPG games then you will fap to this game.

There are a handful of games that I'd consider real classics- Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid. And Fallout: New Vegas. This game is an absolute masterpiece of role-playing games and makes you feel like you're fully immersed in the world of the Mojave Wasteland. I cannot recommend it more highly.

A marvelous addition to the Fallout franchise. Even if the bugs prohibit some players to enjoy the game to it's fullest. They are a minor inconvenience to an otherwise excellent game. The story is compelling, the graphics still hold up to today's standards. Overall, an excellent and a must buy game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fallout: New Vegas has grown in so many ways. Numerous more weapons, voice actors, skins, apparel, and factions to side with. Also, there are numerous new ways to advance your character past the old kill, pick, hack, coerce, complete quest experience gain. Now there are challenges to complete that sometimes supply a new perk, two extra traits to choose during character creation, and even the choice of your companion can offer a perk (Ex. Boone's Spotter perk). Hardcore mode does not seem as hardcore as it could, as you can easily find food, water, and a place to sleep, and making the stimpaks and radaways tick per second only causes a few retries on the tougher encounters. At launch many people had saving issues which is a nightmare for those who lost and couldn't find their many hours of game data, though the manual save feature has and still does work. Graphics seem improved due to the amount of what is to be seen on the screen during larger battles and the entry of New Vegas Strip. The decisions of the player make for a different ending each time, but once you complete the main story line, do not expect to continue on unless you have an old save file. New Vegas has proved to be an impressive title that lives up to most of its fans expectations. Expand

But as many have said, it is the game FO3 should have been. Although the map is smaller, the world just feels so much more alive, for a large part because of the factions fighting amongst themselves. FO3 was a great sandbox game, but FNV is simply better: the combat feels more balanced, hardcore mode turns a shooter with RPG edge into an RPG with a shooter edge. The music is great. The graphics aren't great, but they're more than up to task of drawing you in. VATS is as great as ever, but it's good that crits drop you into slo-mo outside of VATS now too. Melee weapons are a lot more fun. But most importantly: the quests, the world and the dialog are a lot more believable and enjoyable than FO3's. If you enjoyed FO3, consider that a trial run and just get FNV, You'll love it. If you didn't like FO3, I'm not sure this will convince you. But at the end of the day, this is simply one of the best RPG's available on PC. Expand

Better than Fallout 3 by miles. Almost every issue I had with the last game has been resolved. Crappy dialogue? Fixed. Boring Characters? Fixed. Uninspired story? Oh, it was fixed alright. A good game is memorable but a great game makes you feel as though you've fallen in love for the first time all over again. Fallout: New Vegas is nothing short of greatness.

I would easily have rated it 10 if it didn't ship with so many frustrating bugs. However, don't let it be said that the bugs diminish the amazing and liberally nostalgic post-apocalyptic experience waiting for you
A good game is memorable but a great game makes you feel as though you've fallen in love for the first time all over again. Fallout: New Vegas is nothing short of greatness.

I would easily have rated it 10 if it didn't ship with so many frustrating bugs. However, don't let it be said that the bugs diminish the amazing and liberally nostalgic post-apocalyptic experience waiting for you in any significant way and really, there's nothing that can't be fixed in the upcoming patch.

From the moment I pre-ordered New Vegas to the moment my character stepped into the Wasteland, I thought that this would be just another Bethesda RPG, its only redeeming quality being Obsidian behind it. I had modest expectations which in no way prepared me for one of the most immersive and enjoyable gaming experiences in years.

Fallout: New Vegas flows in the same prestigious blue-blooded vein as much-loved RPGs from the 90's. It is an instant classic, it is true to the original Fallout games, it is an appreciation of everything that gave the original games their cult-following: choice, consequence, a dark believable atmosphere, timeless humour and memorable companions.

Hardcore mode enhances the sense of immersion and is a wonderful addition to the gameplay. The plot-line is just a driving force that keeps you heading in the right direction but is in no way the only interesting thing to see or do in the Mojave. It doesn't overpower the experience nor does it come short of delivering a well-balanced and brilliantly thought-out plot.

Hearing nostalgic snippets of the original games, like the name of Tandi, Shady Sands, seeing Marcus again, mention of The Master. This is the true, honest-to-goodness, thoroughbred successor of Fallout 1 and 2.

I believe that Tim Cain will be proud.

Thank you, Obsidian, for giving me a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. I sincerely hope you work on future Fallout games as well--you've put Bethesda to shame :)

(cough cough left 4 dead 2). This game is a full fledged world with a full and descriptive story-line. The game has been given graphically, some touches here and there. This is things in game such as: Better looking characters, slightly farther viewing distance, better lighting and texture reactions to lighting, and flora has been touched on as well noticeably. All the new revamped sounds for the guns and weapons sound realistic as well now. Third person mode was fixed where it is now an "accurate" camera, so when I look at something in third person mode, now I can pick it up. So far, being 6 hours in, no major glitches are present, just some areas where my framerates will go from smooth 60 to 20, thats being around stuff like fire, smoke, dust-devils, etc. The new environment has been completely redone. I have seen almost NO repeating textures from Fallout 3, besides a few rocks and some dungeon floors maybe, but have noticed some reused stuff from oblivion such as glowing mushrooms or their dungeon looks. Aiming down the sights is now present and is actually accurate. Crouching now affects your aim more, which gives a more realistic approach to combat. Enemy AI are slightly changed with more aggressive, and conservative(by fleeing) enemies. The tons of new guns, plus a couple of classics like the 10mm pistol from FO3 are present. The new factions system is amazingly done, so many factions, and all of it is your choice openly on what to do to them. A full fledged crafting system is now in-game. Now you can create ammo types, Modify guns(stuff like silencers and scopes, barrels, etc.), and cook stuff from healing powders to anti venom. Enemies now are harder as well thanks to the new armor system. If I shoot a radscorpion, he is armored, it will tell me next to his health-bar. This gives the game a more RPG feel where tactics are involved. Some enemies now poison your character, requiring you to have anti venom. Hardcore mode makes the game allot more realistic. They should have called it realism mode because its not really more difficult, its just how you play. The food and drinking system is realistically paced, that means i only get dangerously thirsty/hungry/sleepy around the amount of time it take someone in real life to. It also makes stimpacks and foods heal over time instead of instantly. Character movements have been changed to look less robotic as well. This applies to stuff such as getting hit in the head and jumping and running animations. The map is around 3/4 the size of FO3, but guys, we all know that 1/4 of FO3's map was mob space anyways, just there to hold enemies. The other 3/4 where content filled, just like the WHOLE entire vegas map. Plants now grow around the wastes for you to pick and use to craft with, or just eat. About 9/10 of their perks i have seen so far you gain on leveling are cool and helpful, unlike its predecessor which had a broken perk system. The trait system is cool as well, and the game presents you with them simple and faster near the beginning. The start of the game has been improved so now you can get into the wasteland for "real" to play in less than a few minutes. So... Overall the game has been revamped, and I really love it. Its more shooter, and more rpg than FO3 was. I give it a 10/10 because this just perfected what FO3 tried to achieve, the perfect fallout world. Expand

The game is very well done considering it's storyline, quests, new features. The only real problem (which in my opinion is exaggerated) is lack of graphic improvement and bugs.

Graphics are already very good to being with, especially considering that fallout 1 and 2 had very bad graphics by modern standards, yet it was quality of storyline and freedom that made people fall in love with these games. Thus, in my humble opinion lack of graphics improvement is of a very little importance.

In regard to shooting I have to say that it actually improved in relation to Fallout 3(especially iron sights, which I love.) People who whine about it not being as good as in Call of Duty are forgetting that this is RPG and not a SHOOTER.

I, during my 5 hours of playing had not experienced a single crash, or a major bug. Only common bug I saw in the game was that NPCS would sometime get stuck in some objects
Also quick saves and auto saves do not work after game is restarted, but I am pretty sure that will be fixed, if not already, very soon. Any other bugs are rare or not annoying.

People who said that game is laggy are crazy. I play on all the highest settings (ultra high, with resolution of 1440x900 or something like that) and I never experienced a lag. My computer stats are Quad 2.4HZ 4GB memory, 260GTX Invidia.

If you are a fan of RPG in any way, this is a must buy.

Fallout New Vegas is without a single doubt, a contender for the best game of 2010. Why? Because it is an absolutely astonishing game.

On the surface, it looks very similar to Fallout 3, and you would be correct in thinking that, for the most part. However, when you begin the bigger quests, explore a bit more, and turn on 'Hardcore mode' (more on that later) you realise this is totally different. The story is very good, with a choice of 4 endings as well, you can be sure the game plays out a different way when you replay and fight for a different faction. The map seems smaller than in Fallout 3, especially because at least a quarter of the map is sealed off by cliffs. However, this doesn't matter, as each location is interesting to visit, the majority having a quest to go with it, loot, or NPC's to talk to. The action has been revamped as well, allowing V.A.T.S, and having 'true aim' - something Fallout 3 desperatly needed. The graphics are still nice, especially seeing the Strip of New Vegas lighting up the night sky. While Fallout 3 was possible of this, the environment is not just ruins and rubble, allowing for nice variety.

The aforementioned 'Hardcore mode' is a welcome, and optional addition. What it does is introduce aspects like dehydration, hunger, needing sleep, and needing proper medical attention when crippled. This doesn't make the game that much harder than what it can be already, but does make the experience richer when turned on.

A lot of reviews are damning this game purely on the bugs, glitches and problems. This game does have some bugs - but as did Fallout 3. Most of these are fixed with a reload however, and are not as big a problem as people claim. The one thing I will mention though - my computer is more than powerful enough for this game, a 2.93GHZ Quad Core, 4GB of RAM and an Nvidia 295GTX, running on a 64bit version of 7. The performance is very bad when a lot of people appear on screen, and the larger battles become difficult. I feel this is due to having a 64bit system, as my old install with far older hardware had no problems whatso-ever in Fallout 3. This is a big issue - and Obsidian need to fix this as soon as possible.

In closing, the problems in this game are completely dwarfed by what it does right - providing 30+ hours of RPG bliss, and is an absolute essential for any gamer.

I am loving New Vegas. I feel it is an improvement/refinement of Fallout 3 in every way. The difficulty (at Hard/Hardcore mode) is sufficient. The wasteland feels a bit more empty this time around (less enemies), but this also feels more realistic.

One of the things I actually like, is the main quest feels a lot less prominent than almost any game I've played. There is obviously a primary quest, but once you reach a certain point the game doesn't forcefeed you motivation to complete it. It's just there. The game truly feels like an open world, and it a pretty genuine one, at that.

The weapons are cool, and the weapon mods are a great addition. They are expensive; Giving you something to spend your heaps of money on, which Bethesda has never been so great at. The armor and weapons are also pricey, they are tempting, but I've held off on buying any.

The bugs are very minor to me. The only one that I have really had a problem with is the save corruption bug, but that is avoidable so long as you avoid the Come Fly With Me quest, and avoid Vault 34 (?). So, having skirted one quest and all vaults, I've had a more or less bug-free experience.

This game is great fun, with lots of unnecessary dialogue that serves purely to enrich the game world, with much better voice acting than Bethesda ever accomplished. I'm more than satisfied with Obsidian, and wouldn't mind if they made TES:V, because I think Bethesda is losing their touch.

The game is similar to F3. Graphics seem a little better than the last game. My settings are Ultra High. I loved F3 but the dismal environment got depressing. The Mojave desert has some green cactus's mixed in and bright colors. This is a welcome change for me and I really like the new look. Weapons can also be modded. I really like this. Dev's said that scopes can be traded out on guns. I saw in pip boy that weapons had a choice to mod but I did not have any mods that early in game. The mods sound similar to Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 which I loved. First person shooting is a good addition I think instead of running away or backing up to rebuild AP. I did not play for very long(~40 minutes) but I did NOT notice long load times, clipping, or game breaking show stoppers such as those described in console reviews. This review is for PC. I understand it is not extensive but I am a little irritated by the lack of main stream reviews and decided to act instead of **** So far the game seems pretty impressive and solid for me. Can't wait to play when I get home.

You kill members of a faction, the faction members will try to kill you on sight for now on. New Vegas inherits both the good (exploration, variety) and a little bit of the bad (VATS, nearly-broken character system) from Fallout 3, and gets a heaping dose of what made Fallout 1 and 2 great thanks to the folks at Obsidian. I can say with little fear of contradiction that New Vegas has some of the most subtle, sensitive, and sophisticated writing you'll ever see in a game. It's really unfortunate that so few people actually seem to care about that; I guess if you want simplistic morality and giant robots you should probably stick with Fallout 3. New Vegas's writing has a depth and warmth to it that really makes its world come alive in an incredible, multifaceted way, and serves as an interesting counterpoint to the big-but-simple maxims of Bethesda's games. Really great.

The desert setting with Vegas as its centerpiece fits the universe better than the mutant infested maze of ruins that was the capitol wasteland. Much like before, the Mojave wasteland is riddled with vast amounts places to visit, people to interact with and monsters to kill. After 132 hours of gameplay it felt like there was more interesting stuff to do than in Fallout 3. The main story line also has several more endings, and getting to pretty much all of them requires some harsh choices which aren't at all black or white. As far as music is concerned, its good as usual, but I wish there would have been more radio stations to listen to and more DJs to host them as well. Gameplay hasn't changed much from fallout 3. The biggest changes are iron sight aiming, gun mods, crafting foods at campfires, and the introduction of the companion wheel, which is such a simple idea that it makes me wonder why it wasn't already in Fallout 3. Your companions also now have interesting "loyalty missions" similar to Mass Effect 2. They are triggered only if certain conditions are met so without consulting the Internet for help (fallout.wikia.com) you might unfortunately miss some or even all of them. As with Fallout 3, there are many minor bugs and glitches, as well as technical difficulties, but fortunately much less than before and nothing quick saving often won't solve. The most recurring technical issue I had was somewhat annoying at best, and was likely due to DirectX or Windows 7. It didn't involve losing any unsaved game progress or such. Also Steam is a much better choice than Games for Windows Live which was required for Fallout 3. Only thing I miss about GFWL is that the achievements have point values.

Despite what other reviewers seem to think, Fallout 3 is in fact only similar to Fallout: New Vegas in the same way that Tesco Value cola is to Coke: a product with the same base but that will leave you wanting something far more fulfilling.

Compared to Fallout 3, New Vegas actually tries to continue the superb legacy left by the first two games, with a rich, compelling storyline that pushes you onwards mixed with an open world to explore when you feel that you've done enough of the main storyline for now. With the previous game, it felt that the storyline, and the world created, were a mere afterthought tacked on after the game engine had been created and they thought "Hold on, we need a setting for our game!". With Fallout New Vegas it is clear that Obsidian have thought through each of the choices and routes a player can take to the finale, spent time crafting the personalities of the various important characters involved in this vibrant world and actually decided that they'd like to include a colour scheme in this game (believe me, grey gets boring VERY quickly!)!

The gameplay tweaks mixed in, whilst not easily noticeable, also make the game a far more realistic world to play in. The addition of usable weapon mods makes keeping a weapon and upgrading it to improve its effectiveness a far more likely option in New Vegas, removing the need to constantly be on the lookout for newer, bigger guns at all times, and the companion wheel blends in seamlessly, dramatically improving companion interactions, although sometimes it does feel things could be done quicker through the old dialogue!

Those who criticise it as dumbed down for the "new" generation of gamers, I would tell them to get lost and to actually play the game. With its basis in Fallout 3 (often criticised for being too hard for "new" gamers, especially in the way your accuracy and damage improved with your leveling) and with all of the new features and deep storyline (which doesn't just consist of help/don't help the wasteland like in Fallout 3) this game stands up alongside its old-school predecessors (Fallouts 1 & 2 for the morons out there) with a clever criticism of the human condition, mixed with a cracking sense of humour and stylishly difficult gameplay.

Whilst you can criticise the game for bugs (a particular problem for Obsidian, if anyone remembers KOTOR2, and something that affects the entire industry these days) these often fall into the unnnoticeable category, and, with most of the major issues patched within days of release, are not really an issue as the game will now safely run for days at a time, and has been far more stable for myself over its lifetime than other, supposedly more polished releases such as the Total War, Civilization and Left 4 Dead series.

Overall, New Vegas is an astounding return of the Fallout games to a fully rounded package for the first time since the release of Fallout 2 back in 1998, and provides the longest, most compelling and most fulfilling gaming experience I have played since Knights of the Old Republic (Mass Effect & its sequel were good, but lacked some of the humour/fun present in KOTOR/New Vegas)! Any issues in the game are minor, whilst the graphics may be a little dated, they still look damned good when turned up, and the gameplay/experience will take your mind away from these things in a flash. Quite simply, this is the best game of the last 5 years, and unlike its predecessor, actually deserves to be on any list of the best games of the last decade!

I like Fallout: NV. In my eyes, Bethesda redeemed itself from the previous Fallout: 3 title. More customization, more weapons, more places to explore. There is a lot of fun and surprise exploring the Mojave wasteland and dealing with the factions. I was a sucker for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and enjoyed the faction alliances and battles so moving between Caesar's Legion and the Brotherhood of Steel and the various small gangs in the Wasteland gave this game legs. It fulfilled the movement around the world because you had either allies or enemies lurking around every corner. I don't talk much about graphics or go into detail in my reviews about design but as an animator I am disappointed once again by the animation and design of New Vegas. Understandably this is forgiveable because of the volume off dialogue and characters inhabiting the world but I did upgrade some textures and aesthetics of the game when I played through it. While most critics would like to disagree with me, I actually like this game better than Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was a pretty fun game, however, there was just so much more to this game that made me love it just a little more. At first, I was not too sure about the idea behind this game. I felt like Obsidian Entertainment was taking the Call of Duty approach with this game (Making the game on the exact same engine, little to no improvements to it whatsoever). However, when I finally bought this game on my PC, my concerns were put to rest when I realized that this game was actually very different from Fallout 3. The engine was not improved at all, however, the gameplay has changed in some very good ways. It still retains the action RPG gameplay of Fallout 3, but this time around, there is much more to it. Now, you have to pick perks every two levels instead of picking one every level. Shooter fanboys will also be happy to know that you can now fire down-sights for more accuracy. Guns are also much more accurate now than they were in Fallout 3. In Fallout 3, you had to hold down the aim button for greater accuracy. Now, doing this is no longer necessary, as the guns are all accurate without it. Also, the karma system from Fallout 3 has been changed into a reputation system. Reputation depicts how certain factions and towns like you, while others dislike you. This is a very good system, and I wish it was done more often in other games, as it allows people of one town to worship you, while people in another want nothing more than to see you dead. Other than these features, the gameplay is not all that different from that of Fallout 3, however, that's a good thing, as Fallout 3's gameplay was fantastic. It still has Fallout 3's RPG mixed with shooter gameplay, which is enough to really make this game enjoyable. The graphics of this game are also excellent. They do not really improve much from Fallout 3, however, they are still quite good on their own right. Fallout 3 did manage to get the feel for the post-apocalyptic world better, but I think Fallout New Vegas is actually the better looking game. It just feels so much more alive than Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was barren, while Fallout New Vegas is exciting. The story of this game, while not as good as Fallout 3, is still good on its own right. Fallout 3's story was much more original than this game's. New Vegas' story is pretty much the stereotypical story of "someone tried to kill you, and it is up to you to find out who he is, and what he's after,". Cliched? Yes. Bad? Absolutely not! The story of New Vegas is actually done quite well, it just isn't Fallout 3's story. Still though, I do like how this game's story has much more to do with Fallout 1 and 2 than Fallout 3 did. After all, Fallout 3 was set in Washington D.C., while all of the others were set out West. Another thing that's awesome about this game's story is that you have much more control over how the game ends, through both reputation, and how you handle the game's quests. You can choose one of four paths in this game (for the main quest), and all four are generally enjoyable to play through. It also shows the endings of all the other minor factions you chose to either help or destroy during the course of the game. I also like how this game just ends, and does not let you go back after beating the game. Most people did not like this, but I actually did. I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable way for your game to just end. Still though, there are a few problems with this game. For one, there are a lot of bugs in this game. They are nothing to bad however, just minor hiccups here and there. Also however, I did have a bit of a mixed reaction towards the game's DLC's. I liked two of them (Honest Hearts, Lonesome Road), was not so sure about one (Old World Blues), and completely disliked the last one (Dead Money). These DLCs do not affect my opinion on this game as a whole however. Overall, this game is a truly fantastic game. Its story may not be Fallout 3, but it does beat it in terms of both gameplay and graphics. This game really is what Fallout 3 would have been if the original developer had stayed in business. Expand

The weapons and combat are enjoyable, particularly with the new iron sights, weapon mods, and unique weapons. The iron sights don't take you out of the action as much as the VATS does. There's a lot more perks and companions plus each companion has a unique perk, so there's a lot of different RPG and tactical elements to play around with. Also, I love Weapon Repair Kits for repairing those hard to find weapons. Expand

To me, the most stunning part of this game is the DLC. Not that you can't have a bunch of fun without it. It's just super fun to explore the new dynamics. Highly recommend Old World Blues and Honest Hearts

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Anyone who complains about the amount of glitches in Fallout: New Vegas, or how it isn't a drastic improvement over Fallout 3, clearly never played the original two Fallout games. If they had, they'd remember how horrifically glitchy they were, how half the quests in Fallout 2 couldn't even be finished, and how there were few changes between the two games. This isn't to say the glitches in this game are "acceptable", but one should expect it in a Fallout game. Now on to the real review, ladies and gents.

As someone who grew up playing Fallout 2 (I didn't, unfortunately, play Fallout until years later, although I loved it just as much), I was thrilled when I heard Fallout 3 would come out. No, it didn't have the same quality of plot as Fallout 1 & 2, but it was a great game in its own right, and I'm proud to own it.

Then New Vegas came out. I was excited, because I heard the writers from the first two games were returning. I wasn't disapointed.

There are numerous improvements to New Vegas (as compared to Fallout 3), including better graphics (in my oppinion, anyway), more difficult game play, multiple ammo types + weapons mods, the new survival mode, a wider array of enemies, improved A.I. (I suppose you could say), more interesting followers, the follower wheel, many more quests, the factions system, an improved karma system, and a much better plot.

I can tell that the old writers are back, and I love it. The sense of humor Fallout and Fallout 2 had is back, and I didn't realize how much I'd missed it.

The plot is much deeper than Fallout 3's, with many different endings and actual SIDES TO PICK. As many of your side quests effect your ultimate ending, you feel more compelled to complete them - and doing so is much more rewarding. NPCs acknowledge your followers, and your followers do more than carry your scavenge and shoot at enemies; you can have actual conversations with them, and end up caring about what happens to them.

There are cameos from old characters, including Marcus, and refferences to the past games all about.

There is replay value, and as (with side quests) it can take you 30+ hours to beat it once, it is well worth the ticket price in entertainment.

Now, for the flaws, and yes, this game has some.

There ARE glitches, although the majority of them have been fixed now. I've twice gotten stuck in mountains, had foes fall through the floor, had the game crash about a dozen times, fallen to my death upon fast traveling, had a follower vanish and a quest has literally disappeared off my pipboy. However, I've put about 70 hours into this game, playing it twice and redoing parts due to error of my own, and the majority of these glitches happened within two days of the game being released.

Like Fallout 3, the game favors a "good guy", and it's very hard to get bad karma without going on random NCR killing sprees. Although siding with the NCR provides you with about two dozen side quests, Cesar's Legion only has about four, and they're all shorter than the NCR quests usually are. It's understandable that Mr. House and the independant paths wouldn't have side quests, but it's disapointing that Cesar's Legion has so few.

The Wild, Wild West trait doesn't do much, and should of had more uses. It isn't worth taking, which is a damned shame.

The plot, while strong, ends poorly, with a "final battle" that isn't awe-inspiring or all that difficult. Armed with the Alien Blaster, I was able to down the "big bad" before I even realized that's what he was. The game starts off slow, and until I got past Primm, I was honestly disapointed. After that, it did pick up, but there is no excuse for such a weak start, especially after a damned good introduction cutscene.

You are still limited to only two followers (one humanoid, one non), at least without mods, which bothers me greatly.

The NCR seems to be a hivemind, as if you kill an NCR member 50 miles away from the nearest camp, you STILL lose reputation with them, even if it isn't an entirely allied character, and no NCR witnesses are around.

Weapon mods are all too rare.

Your guns are taken regularly, and are not automatically put back where you had them, meaning you have to reset your quickkeys over and over again.

    Third person is still useless.

Although it's a good game, Bethesda still has a ways to go before their Fallout games will be perfect.

Excellent game. I dinged it a point because of performance issues. The entire time I was playing through it, I thought "[t]hese graphics really aren't that good, yet the game staggers pretty drastically." For example, when you get to the strip, the framerate drops dramatically. For what? Some third-tier lighting effects? Honestly, the strip doesn't even look that good. Plus, the game crashes occasinally. No biggee, but it's distracting because you start obsessively saving every 2 minutes for fear of a random-crash. NOW FOR THE GOOD PARTS: The game is very long - easily the longest game I've every played. There's a lot to explore. There's a lot of weapons. There's a lot of discretion that goes into allocating skill points, etc. All in all, it's a very enjoyable experience. It's kinda lame that you can only rank up to 30, but you soon realize that there's skill books laying around everywhere that for all intents and purposes bump the actual top rank to 33. Unfortunately, however, many of these skill books enhance the "survival" skill, which unless you're playing on "hardcore" mode (which noone does), is pretty useless. Also, once you get power armor training, you're really limited in the selection of power armor to wear. There's pretty much just the BOS power armor, and when you wear it, a significant number of factions in the game auto-hate you. You may also be able to find some extra power armor laying around at the Enclave base; I never checked. That's real late into the game, anyway. So if you do manage to get power armor training early, you'll by default have to wear the infamous BOS power armor. Kiss any alegiance you have with the NCR goodbye whilst adorned in the BOS armor. ONE LAST COMPLAINT: In the beginning, the game has some pretty difficult foes to destroy. Por exemplo, you must go into this missle silo (or something) and kill a bunch of Nightkin. It's pretty tough considering you're likely a level 4, and you're strongest gun is the grenade launcher, which you don't even know how to use. As you level up, however, the game becomes unbelievably easy. What's more, you have a multiple companions who are also armed. There is simply no enemy that can't be dispatched within 10 seconds when you're at level 30 with a companion. Por exemplo, I went into this cave with a bunch of Deathclaws. One of the Deathclaws was the "Legendary Deathclaw," which is supposed to be the hardest enemy in the game. My companion, "Veronica," wiped him out with a couple of melee punches with the Ballistic Fist. Srsly, you don't even really need to fire your weapon towards the end of the game. Expand

It is what the old Fallout games are, in the constraints of Fallout 3 system. And so while we still have to put up with the terrible pipboy inventory and sort of weird combat system, most of the game has the spirit of Fallout smeared all over it and I really just could not believe I play such complex, sprawling, content-filled RPG in 2010. Even with all the bugs (which I admit there are many and can be often annoying) and aging graphics I have absolutely no idea what kind of primitive retard could prefer Fallout 3 over this. Unless of course you're in for shooting with stats and hate when NPCs talk too much. In which case fck you.

If at the end of fallout 3 you were like "MOAR" like most sane people, then you will want to get this, as it is a longer, better experience, albeit without the "new-appeal" of fallout 3, since it's the same in many respects, except with a longer, completely different and new world. It's equally good to fallout 3, but if you have played one or the other they are both quite the same.

It just feels like I saw only a very few of what it has to offer, in terms of locations, quests, characters, hidden secrets, and so on (and yet, I saw quite a lot), that I feel dizzy in front of all the possibilities that are offered to me. Offered I mean, never imposed. Because you are not caught by the hand, never. You make your own choices (which are numerous, and almost never simple to take ok, I would still have loved to have even more choices, but that's because I'm insatiable), you make your own way through this giant world, you decide to explore what you want, and often you'll be (happily) surprised by what will happen to you.

I could still discourse for long about all the qualities of this game, the game system, the story, but if you're a big RPG fan like me, and you didn't try it yet, then wait no more, I don't know what you're still doing here

This game has an amazing, rich, explorable world that has many to offer. Every secondary quest seems meaningful and the reputation system is a great addition to its predecessor. Too bad that it has been released too early, and too bad that it has such a bad interface and combat mechanics. This is just for players that like great story and dialogue. For great fights, look elsewhere.

    Viva New Vegas!

I loved Fallout 3, and dedicated 170 hours to the GOTY edition. I was hoping for more of the same from FNV and it pretty much delivered. While much is the same there have been some changes. The graphics have apparently been improved, although I didn’t really notice any difference (it looks a bit creaky by today’s standards, but is better than some from the same period).

The graphics have apparently been improved, although I didn’t really notice any difference (it looks a bit creaky by today’s standards, but is better than some from the same period). But the main changes relate to gameplay. F3 managed a perfect balance between RPG and shooter. For me, FNV leans a little too far in favour of the role-playing elements. There’s less combat and what combat there is isn’t quite as much fun as it was in F3. Also the main story is less engaging, with emphasis placed on the alliances you forge with the various factions along the way. I enjoyed this aspect of the game but would’ve liked more meat on the main storyline. That having been said all the elements that made F3 so good are still here. The Mohave Desert is another huge open world waiting to be explored. There are numerous quests to be enjoyed, and all the immersive qualities are still there.

A quick note about bugs: F3 was a bit buggy but FNV takes the cake on this score. In the 120 hours I spent playing the game it must have crashed 50 times or more. Save games fail to load as do maps on occasion. I even had a couple of NPCs go missing, one of which was a quest-giver (a side quest luckily). So be forewarned: it can be frustrating at times.

I had originally purchased the game on Steam through a Steam sale because it was extremely cheap and I figured why not, try something new with video games. For the longest time, I hated New Vegas, as I found the beginning levels far too hard to complete, resulting in me taking an extensive break from the game. During this break I decided to read up on the Fallout lore, etc. After about an entire 2 years of not playing the game, I decided to give New Vegas another chance, and boy was I glad I did so. What I did wrong my first time through was that I was flying through the quests far too quickly, disabling me from exploring the wasteland, appreciating the game for what it was, discovering secrets that could give me a little tactical boost, so I decided to change my approach on the game. The story alone is very intriguing, but for first time players, the expansive world and endless possibilities might be too much for one to take in if you are new to these type of games, but you sooner or later adjust, just as I did. While New Vegas may be a good game, whether that be combat wise or story wise, it does have its fair share of bugs. Through my PC playthrough of New Vegas, I experienced a total of 15-20 game crashes, but the causes I could never really determine, it was never something that was in the game. Any bugs that I did experience in game were never something to drop my everything I was doing and write it down so that I should remember the particular bug. All and all, New Vegas is a very good game, especially with the DLC that was released over time (but I recommend doing the DLC missions towards the end of the game when your character is MUCH higher in level). I would recommend that anyone who loves games where any decision you make can alter the story should play this game, preferably on consoles so that you don't have to experience the frequent game crashes, as I did. One of the most absorbing games I've played in a long time.

It's hard to be specific about everything that goes into New Vegas that makes it so good. It's a big game, that encompasses so much. I'll just leave it here.

When I first learned of this game I thought, "Ok, so it's Fallout 3, only set in Las Vegas. It's probably interesting the first time you have a shootout in a casino, but the novelty of that has got to wear off pretty quickly." I couldn't possibly have been more wrong.

Fallout: New Vegas is hands down one of the best games I have ever played. It includes everything that was cool about Fallout 3 -- A great role-playing system, terrific gameplay mechanics, an enormous open world to explore and plenty of amusing characters to meet and bad guys to fight. Plus, you can get four DLC add-ons, each of which is a cool game unto themselves.

What it adds is one of the cleverest, most immersive storyline systems you'll find. Plenty of games have "moral choice" systems that alter the main storylines as you play it based on what you do, but Fallout: New Vegas includes four completely different main storylines, each of which can be completed in several different ways. There's also a "reputation" system that tracks how your character's actions affect their relations with the various different human survivor factions and settlements in the game -- and many of those groups are hostile to certain other groups. So doing a favor for one will likely make some others antagonistic. That in turn affects the options in the various storylines.

The result is that the game can be VASTLY different every time you play it -- not just different cut scenes but whole main sections playing out in entirely different ways. I've played through numerous times and it has never once gotten dull.

The PC version is best. There's a huge a modding community for this game, meaning whatever adaption or change you'd think might be fun to see in the game is probably already available for free.

Easily the best RPG I've ever played. The best worldbuilding and writing I've ever seen in a videogame. Some minor bug issues at release, but this was due to time constraints and quickly fixed.

The best Fallout in my opinion.
I always come back to NV when I have a post-apocalyptic itch to scratch.
I've beaten this game numerous times and I always do/say something slightly different than before that results in a different outcome. Years later when I play NV I'm still entertained; the sign of a great game. Well deserved 10/10 for me.

It's the best Fallout game, when it comes to story. However, the mojave wasteland isn't exactly breathing with life, I mean it is a wasteland after all. Fallout 4? More like Fallout bore, because compared to this game it's nothing. Fantastic music, characters, weapons, humor, lore, open world, stuff to discover, the mods, and the choices you can make are all the reasons this is the best game of 2010. Sure there are some bugs and the graphics are average but it's still a fantastic game.

Quality game and an excellent time sink. There are a few minor bugs here and there, but these can be forgiven in such a huge game and only involved minor sub-quests. Some of the DLC was a bit too wacky for my liking. I would prefer more focus on the wasteland and its hardships than dealing with aliens, or scientific experiments...

I borrowed this game from my uncle for the PS3 about 2 years ago and I got to the Goodsprings or Powder Ganger decision and I picked the Powder Ganger one on accident and then I said "man f*ck this why would you want to pick that, that's so stupid" and then I played Fallout 3 and really liked that. After I learned how the fallout formula worked I went back to Fallout New Vegas to play itI borrowed this game from my uncle for the PS3 about 2 years ago and I got to the Goodsprings or Powder Ganger decision and I picked the Powder Ganger one on accident and then I said "man f*ck this why would you want to pick that, that's so stupid" and then I played Fallout 3 and really liked that. After I learned how the fallout formula worked I went back to Fallout New Vegas to play it again. To put it simply. I have roughly 250 hours on the PS3 version and 180 hours on the PC version.

The reason why I have so many hours on this game and why it's my favorite game of all time is that it's a perfect RPG. A game that allows you to play almost however you want. Fallout 4 was a garbage RPG for these reasons: It didn't let you play as whatever you wanted. Fallout 4 was restricted with it's roleplaying. Had a voiced character and backstory. Fallout New Vegas DOESN'T have a voiced character. Fallout New Vegas DOESN'T have a character backstory. Fallout New Vegas DOES have great RPG elements.

I have 180 hours because of the replayability the game has because you can play as so many different things. Wanna be a goody two shoe character? You can. Wanna be a cruel despicable marauder? You can. Wanna be a flawed chem addict/alcoholic? You can. Wanna be a guy with an identity crisis that can't decide right from wrong and can't decide between NCR or Legion? You can.

I so far have had 4 playthroughs on the PC (Yes Man, Mr. House, NCR, and Legion playthroughs) and 6 PS3 playthroughs and I still can't get tired of this game (the only reason I don't play that often anymore is because I modded it to death and it crashes too often). If you've played Fallout 3, and never played 1-2 you'll probably like New Vegas. If you've played 1-2 and hate 3 you'll idolize New Vegas. If you liked Fallout 4, shame on you. If you hated Fallout 4 and want Obsidian to make the next one, you'll idolize New Vegas. If you love the Elder Scrolls series, you'll love New Vegas.

Although the game is my favorite game of all time it certainly has some flaws. The combat is clunky. The graphics are kinda ugly and the voice acting is very dull. The game crashes a lot and runs poorly like most Bethesda games but most of this can be fixed with mods.
Oh my god mods. Mods. There are SO MANY MODS FOR THIS GAME. And if you dislike almost anything in the game, mods are there for you baby.

    Final Verdict:
If you're a fan of RPG this will be the best game for you, but if you're looking for a shooty shooty game, I'd go for Fallout 4. New Vegas isn't for everybody but there is a special somebody for all of us, and for best of us, it's New Vegas.

    10/10 for sure

    8/10 for me.
The downgrade on graphics are sad to be honest, I don't even know why, probably because they were rushed by Bethesda to get it finished or some other sh*t, I'm not even the first to cry about graphics but come on, it's 2 years newer than Fallout 3, they could've at least had the same. The story in my honest opinion is actually really really boring. The side quests are okay,

The story in my honest opinion is actually really really boring. The side quests are okay, but at least they had a ton of them. Most of the map is pretty empty. DLCs on the other hand are REALLY REALLY good. It also has an insane amount of weapons, which is really good and satisfying to see. Many clothing items on female characters look really stiff or better said manly, which is also a downgrade from Fallout 3. Being able to finally aim through iron sights was a good move though, a bit weird but better than the old zoom-in style.

This game is my favorite game because of the story, factions, dlc, characters and moral decisions. However the game was not bug tested and had some points where the frame rate was so bad that it was unplayable.

Fallout: New Vegas looks like an Add On to Fallout 3, but that should not mean, that it's a copy of its forerunner. It scores with an great atmosphere, nice story and all the typical and awesome Fallout features.
